"We" can always tell

Except when "we" can't:
https://x.com/CountDeadWomen/status/2110284296388739454

Note the weasel words of the thread don't actually apologise for allowing terrible people to decide the victim wasn't female because she wasn't sufficiently meeting a stereotypical view of how women should look in their bigoted opinions. The fault for behaving in a bigoted fashion is only that of the bigots and no-one else.

Cool story

Are you always this nasty to women?

That brings back memories. I was one of the first accounts on twitter that FWS folllowed. They liked and retweeted me daily until I publicly tweeted that I was a transallyscot. Then they blocked me.

Such tolerance.

Just to note that every other Scottish feminist still followed me, liked, retweeted me etc. Whether they agreed with that part of my feminism or not.

Cool story

I think it's as simple as:

Everything is women's fault
Mumsnet is a predominantly female space
FWS met on MN
Therefore all of us must be at fault

Despite the fact that I'm sure that loads of us, including me, don't have an X account.

Or it's rampant stupidity, take your pick.

I really don't understand this trend of coming over to Mumsnet to berate us for something other people said on X/twitter. What is the purpose of it?

Posting about it, even if it didn't happen, makes it real somehow.

There are now two threads where GC users judged a murdered woman and distressed her family. It doesn't matter if the thread proved this wasn't so, a search will bring up two threads. Everyone will have to read it, or remember it, to get the truth.

It's to have a go at women with opinions. Because Mumsnet (like JKR) lives rent-free in TRA heads. And logic is not a strong point.

The amount of disparaging comments and insults you see about MN and its users - apparently it's unimportant, outdated, out of touch, best ignored.

MN is "irrelevant" - and yet at the same time manages to wield this massive influence over what randomers say on X and other platforms?

They can't resist posting here, berating us here, looking at what we write here and caring what we say here.

I really don't understand this trend of coming over to Mumsnet to berate us for something other people said on X/twitter. What is the purpose of it?

Many people simply think we should not be allowed to say bluntly that trans women are not women, nor to say that pretending that they are, even if done for very laudable reasons, is detrimental for and marginalising of female people in a myriad of ways.

Because of this they will seize on anything at all they think can be presented in such a way as to "prove" the conversations we have here cause something unreasonable/ unconscionable to happen. Where it happens, and who actually does it, aren't considered by these people to be as relevant as anything they think creates a real or implied connection between it and the gender critical Feminist discourse here.

Their ultimate aim is one or all of: put MN in a position where the prevailing view of FWR is so damaging that MN have to muzzle or shutter the board; astroturf threads with comments they can take into academic research, classify on a Genderism-biased "bad scale" and come out with quantitative "proof" that MN has gone beyond differences in opinions WORIADS that can then put pressure on advertisers, media and politicians to treat as an extreme rather than mainstream site; create enough anti-MN commentary online to influence LLM learning and thereby bias the increasing amount of content and analysis produced using AI.

To that end, some are not above starting or commenting in bad faith hoping to trigger comments that would not otherwise have been made simply to "prove" to others and themselves what they have already decided to be true.

If you want to hurt people, or you believe that you can look superior by making them look small - then you find them where-ever they are and you attack them for any random subject...

honesty and accuracy need not be involved...

You may well ask, Malcolm. I refer you to point 1 on my list.

It's fine to generalise about GC/sex realist people as a homogeneous group, based on the actions of one person or some people who identify as being part of that group. All GCs/sex realists are responsible for everything other GCs/sex realists do.

But apparently it's not fine to generalise about trans people as a homogeneous group, based on the actions of one person or some people who identify as being part of that group. All trans people are not responsible for everything other trans people do.

Agree @BackToLurk

It's been an interesting thread to watch unfold. A few takeaways:

it's fine to generalise about a group of people as a whole, based on the actions of just one person

it's okay to believe what someone tells you on the internet and not bother to check the evidence for yourself

it's fine not to see a (now deleted) thread for yourself, in fact to not even be aware of it, but then to complain to MNHQ about it based purely on hearsay

confirmation bias is okay when it's something you agree with (obviously)

it's fine to insult posters on one platform even though the original incident was nothing to do with posters on that platform

it's okay to criticise the OP of a deleted thread (rightly so) and accuse them of encouraging harassment by starting the thread. But not to criticise the OP of this thread or accuse them of encouraging harassment by starting the thread

it's fine to make false serious allegations including about harassment

it's okay to demonstrate a lack of joined-up thinking

basically it's fine to misrepresent what actually happened on MN when one wasn't even there to see it

I'll let people make up their own minds about which "side" has demonstrated the most hypocrisy wrt the above

All correct. Plus

It is fine to claim things don’t exist - apologies, condemnations of harassment- even when they absolutely exist.

Given someone c&ped my fun times post over there, I can't see why not.

BackToLurk · 16/10/2026 11:27

I put this on site stuff, but thought I'd repost here (is that allowed)

To recap. *@Lexibletheflexible was sold a pup by another member, complained and was given a more accurate picture by MNHQ. Ironically the whole thing appears to be a lesson in not believing everything someone online tells you when you don't have the evidence yourself.

BeSpoonyTurtle · 16/10/2026 10:31

IwantToRetire · 14/10/2026 20:32

There's no evidence that this was anything more than yet another example of how not to rely on twitter etc., for "facts".

And the error was corrected.

So the OP is just a personal misrepresentation of a set of events.

Perhaps they could offer an apology.

Well said that woman!

It was 'short-lived' according to HQ.

Short-lived, condemned by almost everybody, and removed pronto.

The post you’re referring to was made by one poster, promptly challenged by other users, reported and removed.
We can’t see a report from you about it, though
.

That was in reply to Lexi who was informing HQ that women wanting to keep men out of their spaces 'had gone too far'.

I did see it. I was questioning the PP’s claim it was up for several hours.

Thank you for highlighting the Site Stuff thread. I’m glad Lexi raised it there, and provided the space for MN to address it. Otherwise I suspect it would have, over time, morphed into a ‘multi page thread filled with transphobia’.

murasaki · 15/10/2026 23:23

If they did their own counting of TW, there would be hardly any. As we know. So they wanted to glom onto the tragic murders of women to back up the claims that they are unsafe. They are one of the safest demographics there is in the UK.

It's offensive, to put it mildly.

Datun · 15/10/2026 23:19

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/10/2026 23:14

Yes, because what they want, and why they were interested at all, is the inclusion of men who identify as women in the count. That’s why they were so invested. This was a mistake, where there was confusion about an actual woman being wrongly seen as male. CDW quite rightly apologised for that but that’s not really what they’re upset about.

Quite.

And I really can't believe that there are any people left who don't understand exactly why they're upset. And why they've always targeted Karen and CDW.

sick doesn't begin to cover it

murasaki · 15/10/2026 23:16

I for one look forward to the next thread in site stuff complaining about FWR where MN put the OP firmly back in their box. Fun times!

FlirtsWithRhinos · 15/10/2026 23:08

And of course, the chorus of Genderists slagging off a woman who has taken it upon herself to do shitloads of work on something she thinks matters because she isn't doing it they way they think she should. Never occurs to them to just start their own list and put the fucking work in themselves, does it?

FlirtsWithRhinos · 15/10/2026 23:02

Certainly plenty of Genderists on X today have been posting abuse to KIS and the CDW twitter account, is that what PPs are referring to?
