It's a variation on how some people see the Left-Right division in this incredibly polarised age. In general, many on the Right see those on the Left as misguided, or wrong, while many on the Left see those on the Right as evil. It's a massive generalisation but I have to admit to seeing some truth in it in the circles I move in.

BlueLegume · 14/10/2026 21:17

Polarised is a perfect word @nauticant

It kind of explains the ‘no debate’ mantra of the trans world or recent history.

I have always felt pretty centrist but the trans movement are pushing me right of centre. Mainly because safeguarding of children is imperative.

We shrugged off Cyril Smith as a cuddly uncle. We pandered to Jimmy Savile as a bit odd but good because he raised money for charity.

No more. Odd behaviour is a red flag. It is that simple. Wake up ans stop pandering,

BlueLegume · 14/10/2026 21:23

Wake up and not ans ⬆️

nauticant · 14/10/2026 21:29

I come from the Left but in the past decade or so my real aversion is to anything that looks like faith-based ways of seeing the world. Whether that's on the Left or on the Right. I'm actually much more forgiving of religions being faith-based because at least they're honest about where they stand.

In particular and without limitation the Second Respondent contends that the Claimant’s purported belief in “the integrity of explanatory and evidence led medicine” (“the MI Belief”) is in reality an opinion or viewpoint, does not relate to a weighty and substantial aspect of human life and behaviour and lacks cogency and cohesion

I think R2 would have had a better chance if his defence was just that it wasn't a belief because it was an opinion or viewpoint whilst accepting that if it were a belief it would be substantial, cogent etc

I wonder if, in the light of the judge's order this morning that his diary be disclosed directly to her, he had a spurt of fear when his private email account was mentioned.

My regular reminder that all NHS staff have to do annual data protection training which includes very prominent instructions to never use your private email for anything, and tells you several times that anything that does find its way to such an account is still subject to all the same disclosure rules as your official work email.

I was mentally contrasting the styles of NC and CM today.

Both of them build traps for witnesses.

NC's traps is a serial question trap; so if a, b and c are true would it be fair to say that d follows.

CM is more of lets compare these two things a = reasonable and b = stupid. You said b in your witness statement. Do you continue to say b?

There's also the Ben Cooper trap. Seemingly scattergun, apparently trivial questions that the witness not only can't disagree with but sees absolutely no point doing so because they're just agreeing an address on an email or that a meeting was on a Thursday. Then suddenly all the 'unrelated' points snap together and you realise they're the spiky bits of a mantrap.

Private practice if Reddit is to be believed

Right at the bottom it states that Dr Hall "cannot prescribe at the moment". This indicates that the GMC have put restrictions on her practice. I'm guessing that eventually we will see an MPTS hearing when the full story will be exposed.

This is a comment in response to Nick Wallis GenderBlog update from Wednesdays evidence. I think it sums up the trans movement well,…..

Dr Hall was a female consultant anaesthetist, married with children, until deciding to identify as a man, taking testosterone and having bits cut off. Hall retrained as a GP. Like many adult transitioners used to getting their own way in positions of power, Hall displays absolute certainty, intolerance of dissent and hyperbolic aggression if crossed. This is expressed as ‘if you don’t agree and conform to my demands 100%, you are denying my existence, and are a genocidal transphobe’ .
The wide range of mental health disorders that cluster around trans identification includes narcissistic personality disorder.

Well said David. I was prepared to accept men who say they are women are one part of the trans issue and women identified as men are doing so for different reasons. David’s comment has made me see they are all just under the same umbrella. Whoever you are David, well commented.

Dr Hall is a total outlier. The number of forty year old women who decide they are really men is very small.

And of that very small number of activists a large majority (my opinion) position themselves across public/private/charitable organisations to wield excessive often unfettered influence to further ideologies not congruent to those organisations. If they just adhered to the original tenets of the organisations they infiltrated there would be no problem. Now ‘we see you/ challenge/scrutinise/restore. It’s still beyond me that so many intelligent well educated ‘high ups’ choose not to see it for what it was/is and not transphobic to say ‘ hang on a minute ‘.

Thanks for the link to NW's Genderblog.

"My brain is rewiring itself in this second puberty, and I’m having to relearn how to be with people.”

This from a medical doctor is seriously disturbing.

Rightsraptor · 15/10/2026 08:06

Has Nick written up yesterday's? I subscribe to his Substack but haven't got anything, nor has Genderblog (same article) appeared in my emails.

Justabaker · 15/10/2026 08:23

Nick is not doing a daily round up this time but I think focusing on themes that emerge or a single aspect. The most recent one was to skewer the stupid defence that evidence based medicine is not WORIADS. I think he may have his hands on a downloadable version of the bundle, plenty of reading fun.

It's a bold strategy and it may not be held by the judge to meet the Grainger criteria. The law can be an ass and she might see that as a bridge too far. But it's not the defence I would have chosen. So mockable.

They could have gone with the standard - just following procedure, well there was differing opinions about the care pathway, we really didn't know what Dr Hall was doing, Amroliwala was a rogue and nothing to do with us, etc.

I would describe this defence as a cross breed of:

  • the other dude did it; and
  • yeah, we treat everybody that badly because we're ignorant.

nb - 'Stupid is natural and can be cured. Ignorant is acquired and is hard to shift'. My granny's saying.

I hope AD is sufficiently rested and fed and ready for his nightmare that he cannot wake up from to continue for a third day!

I bet her and her husband look like The Krankies in family photos.

Although not a fan of slopy shoulders, real or metaphorical.

I believe it is not so much that his (real) shoulders are slopy, it is that he's one of those men who perpetually have upper body day in the gym, so his trapezoids are unusually well stacked.

Hannah Barnes wrote for the New Statesman on this in 2025, including NHS Sussex and NHSE looking the other way/ignoring the concerns. You have to wonder at the GMC investigations too and whether they also are in too deep with GI.

The HSJ editor has confirmed it will be covering the story, which will get NHS eyes on it. If they are doing their jobs (ha!) more mainstream media that has somehow inexplicably missed this may pick it up from there

One can only hope that the HSJ reporting on this will be similar to Computer Weekly reporting on the Post Office Horizon system. Sadly look how long the process took though to waken everyone else up to the scandal. And this is most certainly a scandal. Helen Webberley printing her ‘correction’ must have been off the back of some information. She has never printed anything like that before. If anything she normal doubles down.

Dr Hall has been forbidden to prescribe by the GMC as part of their ongoing investigation.

Interesting……

"A UCL professor who has faced personal abuse and smear campaigns after she raised concerns over the impact of puberty blockers on young people’s brains has been shortlisted for the Maddox Prize for 'standing up for science'.

"Sallie Baxendale, a neuropsychologist at UCL specialising in epilepsy and adolescent brain development, is the only UK academic on the eight-person shortlist for this year’s award, organised by Sense about Science."

Hedgehogforshort · 15/10/2026 09:28

There is something very fishy about why S Hall was allowed to continue which goes beyond incompetent leadership.

it is apparent there was a good deal of collusion.
