I thought it was a man that turned into a bettie…

A Bettie? That would be very on point for this board.

I thought it was a man that turned into a bettie…

I think there's one where some bloke wakes up and discovers he's turned in to a beetle

Didn't Franz Kafka write a story about a beetle that had been changed into a robot? Or am I getting my metamorphoses mixed up?

I thought it was a man that turned into a bettie…

In other news, Nick Wallis is leading an investigation commissioned by the Committee for Academic Freedom on Cambridge University and Jason Arday. 😳

I didn't know that, excellent, thank you

My impression of the very composed GA was of a slippery, highly experienced HR person who was very careful to say as little as possible but still tripped up a couple of times.

I missed too much of her evidence, so look forward to the TT full tweets thingy later.

Yes, very much agree. I think she let slip more than she thought she did.

While we're on a break, a funny robot-related story:
I happened to see a bit of an old Have I Got News For You the other evening and there was a funny video of a domestic robot making a complete hames of loading a dishwasher.
It was wearing a frilly cap and apron.
Ian Hislop asked 'Why is that robot dressed as a French maid?'
The presenter [didn't recognise her, looked her up, comedian Catherine Ryan]
answered, quick as a flash:
'BECAUSE MEN, IAN.'
😁

Ah but did he collect the low hanging fruit on his journey? We need know.

He could grab some 360 degree feedback at the same time. It’’s delicious withe the fruit.

I can't get past I am not a robot

It's the hard, shiny casing. Beetles, robots, much the same.

Well, that wasn't nearly as interesting as the last 3 days. Got to go out now, will catch up later.

<Need to get more cookies, someone seems to have eaten them all when I wasn't looking>

Just butting in to ask about AD "going forward", "taking things forward" etc. How many times has he used those words? He must have gone several times round the world by now.

He's only able to form sentences that revolve around blue sky thinking.

I agree with the judge.

Honestly 9 drafts. What the hell were they playing at?

I'm very looking forward to hearing more about the 'curious comments'...

From TT

J I haven't focused on draft version before is there just one draft
CM there are 9 versions, with some curious comments on them, will explore with PF
J why so many drafts, so many comments?
GA we were incredibly busy, preparing a major consultation.....not much opportunity for discussion
J if you're incredibly busy faster to draft it once, well and get it out
GA yes that would have been quicker

Well, quite...
