I wonder if this person will be subjected to the same treatment as Caroline Farrow?

Let's wait and see!

Given the fact that the % of transwomen in prison, convicted of sexual assault, is higher than for the rest of the male prison population.....

Where are your figures for this?

The vast majority of males in prison will not identify as trans

You can also find the statistics on the Sex Matters website and Keep Prisons Single Sex website.

Why do you think Le Fey, a convicted criminal (convicted for violence with a claw hammer), is not being treated in the same way as Caroline Farrow?

And when we tried to have this argument, repeatedly over years, we were told 'oh, this never happens' so having very clear examples of where it DOES and HAS happened: Le Fey, Dolatowski, Bryson, White, and the rest (many others also) is what we've been forced to do because no one would accept women just wanting single sex spaces as a legitimate point of view without a load of examples.

Because despite it all being about self ID for men and their lived experience, we women aren't seen as fully human and just saying we want the privacy, dignity and safety of a single sex space isn't enough.

So here we are.

Felix125 · 08/06/2023 10:07

SinnerBoy

The word 'victim' was used in the context of the sentence. ie if they continue with the threats......

The 'guy trying to silence Caroline' - as i have said quite a few times, we don't know if it is the same person on this occasion. So I have referred the them as a reporting person. We also don't know what the allegation is.

If people are on the end of disturbing threats - then they will be a victim of that threat. If they contact police, they will be a 'reporting person' to that inquiry.

The thing is - violence against women is a serious problem. Which you are all rightly aware of. This man in the post should be reported to the police (not just reporting the post on social media).
My point is though - there are loads of men making violent and rape threats all over social media. The way that mumsnet users just seem to focus in on the ones by trans women along with the threads that I mentioned earlier (about Sam smith as an example) will make many people think that your problem is will all trans women.
But in fact, your problem is with violent men.

The POINT Is that we can't tell which men will be violent and it's being a man (XY) that's the risk factor so that's why we don't want transwomen in our spaces or our daughters spaces.

The fact that it's predominantly men that commit violent sex crimes is why we want SINGLE SEX SPACES. With NO males in there whatever they're wearing or however they feel inside.

Given the fact that the % of transwomen in prison, convicted of sexual assault, is higher than for the rest of the male prison population it's suggestive that violent, predatory men already know that saying they're trans is a way to offend more easily and have an easier time once convicted (or a lesser sentence in this case). See also, Dolatowski, Bryson, White etc etc

...and i get that the real issue is that intersection between trans women who are also violent. BUT when you blur that very, very serious problem with posts from mumsnet users being overly 'offended' by drag, or pride, or pronouns etc etc (and there are many posts on here that can be really mean) really damages your argument and distracts from the real problem.
You come across as bullies rather than wanting to protect women's rights.

But it’s the cultural changes, like forcing people to change their language and display pronouns as a sign of adherence, that is ending up with situations where a judge thinks it’s sensible to allow a violent offender back on the streets simply because of a self-declared trans status.

Well done, you have managed to completely miss the point.
What is being highlighted here is how violent men who identify as Trans are being treated compared to non violent women who merely try and promote reality and enforce boundaries

It’s correct that a violent offender transwoman making death threats against women who are standing up for women’s rights is “a real issue”.

The only poster “blurring” that issue with mention of Pride, drag, and Sam Smith on this thread is the latest derailer, bluemoonswoon.

Yuh-huh!

If they continue with threats, then that 'victim'needs to contact police and start an enquiry off to get them back to the court.

Ah, OK. The guy trying to silence Caroline Farrow is a victim, but the women on the receiving end of what are obviously extremely disturbing threats only merit 'victim' status.

And you wonder why people rip your posts to pieces.

DerekFaker · 08/06/2023 10:00

Felix125 · 08/06/2023 09:55

The police did act against this person - that's why they were charged to court with the offence.

If they continue with threats, then that 'victim'needs to contact police and start an enquiry off to get them back to the court.

That was for an earlier threat against a man in a shop. See the article in my second post.

And of course the people threatened have reported him to the police.

There are horrible people in every section of society. There are awful trans women, there are awful people on mumsnet, there are awful gender critical people.
Stop using the extremes of human behaviour as an excuse to bully trans people as a group (I see it here all the time).
Stick to core of your beliefs and focus on what matters (women only spaces / women only sports / legally what makes a woman).
Please can everyone here STOP with the stuff that you just personally find offensive as you're losing the argument when people body shame Sam Smith, or have a problem with drag (no, it is NOT the same as blackface, stop pretending it is), having a problem with pride. The amount of positives that come from pride far, far outweigh the negatives (especially for young people trying to find acceptance).
Being 'offended' by something - just because it makes you uncomfortable (such as someone's lifestyle or how they look) isn't important.
Protecting women's female only spaces is important.
Focus mumsnet, focus! You're losing the room.
(And for those so say things like 'the tide is turning' --- no it's not, only for the far right and daily mail readers. It's not exactly winning the argument is it).

The trans community needs to call out this bat-shittery....until this happens they will be essentially condoning the behaviour.

The fact is this unpleasant trans-woman's statement is just that, a statement from a deeply unpleasant person. Until it is condemned and there are calls for prosecution in the same manner as (say) Caroline Farrow, it will be taken that their behaviour is condoned by the trans community.

KalimbaMoon · 08/06/2023 09:53

This person is disturbed and dangerous and needs a visit from the police. If police can storm into a woman’s home for misgendering someone online, but fail to act on gruesome and terrifying death threats, then clearly something has gone very wrong.

bluemoonswoon · 08/06/2023 09:52

The point is, a particular group of awful people appear to have gained protection from the expected consequences of awfulness by saying some magic words.

You must realise there is something wrong if a violent thug is spared prison because of this magical cloak.

dimorphism · 08/06/2023 09:49

Yes, also, never seen anything equivalent in terms of violent threats from any GC woman to anyone on twitter. Never. Receipts or it didn't happen.

Are the police imposing an order on this man to monitor all his devices, like they want to do to Caroline Farrow? If not, why not, these threats were from March.

Babdoc · 08/06/2023 09:46

bluemoonswoon, have you reported the examples of “bullying” to MN? The moderators will remove them.
I seem to have missed these posts - when did any Mumsnetter threaten trans people with a claw hammer, threaten to rip their eyes out or carve them up?

dimorphism · 08/06/2023 09:45

98% males who commit violent crime (don't know where the 'of' came from)

Whilst there ARE awful people in all groups and that's not a justification for slandering a whole group, that's not what's going on here. We're comparing the response to these specific threats by a convicted criminal by the authorities to that to e.g. Kellie Jay Keen (who is being directly threatened here) who was visited by police for being 'untoward about paedophiles'.

Also it's 98% of males that commit violent crime so knowing a person's sex is relevant here.

This man got out of jail time for an actual crime for which he was found guilty by virtue of being trans. Where are the trans people saying 'not in our name'?

There are actually a few who are saying the exact same thing as us, Miranda Yardley being one.

I've got nothing against any trans people like Miranda, he seems a very decent sort of person and treats women with equal respect.
