They are doing some presentations at my place of work soon.

Does anyone have experience of their presentations? Any idea what I can expect?

It's not mandatory but it makes me think there may be a forthcoming policy...

Aside from the DSD conflation and mislabelling (which is truly disgusting IMO) GI have dodgy age groups for children's activities and a trawl through MN will list the safeguarding concerns I'm sure you're already aware of.

Does your Uni look at risks under health and safety? I'm sure they wouldn't want to open themselves up to any legal action as a result of misrepresenting equality law with made up protected characteristics. You could try sharing the BBC Nolan podcast on Stonewall and the Akua Reindorf report to denostrate how Stonewall law (influenced by GI) has lead to problems for universities.

Do they follow Athena Swan?

These organisations always go straight to trans lobbyists, and get them to write the script. No questions asked. No normal women involved at all.

Why are they unable to acknowledge that there is, there really is, a recognised conflict between the rights and preferences of women (women's strictly single-sex spaces) and those of men who have a thing about themselves being their own personal version of women (but they are still men, not women, but insisting on entry to what should be women's single-sex spaces. Very male type of behaviour - they are more important than women).

Crouton19 · 15/11/2022 00:51

@Lampedsomeoiks thank you for posting and I’m sorry you have to deal with this on top of what you’ve already been through. These activists barely even properly represent the needs of people with gender dysphoria and more and more people with GD, some of them trans, are speaking up and pushing back. I hope the funding for treatment of DSD conditions is rightfully restored as soon as possible.

I@QuimReaper I reckon so 😉

Here you are OP - Heather Brunskell-Evans has written a devastating critique of Gendered Intelligence and their toxic influence on society. Really joins up lots of the dots. Link to her article in this thread:

This has taken some major courage to create this post.

I have a DSD, I am female I have xx chromosomes.

I cannot truly post what I want to say about those that are hijacking DSDs as I would be banned. The Differently Normal site articulates it far better than I can.

The illness has caused me a lot of major mental health and physical health issues so to read these groups using it as a means to advanced their warped narrative has deeply upset and hurt me. I hate them in short.

They have no thought, care or understanding towards people with DSD illnesses. The insane ideologies being encouraged at every level is dangerous and absolutely tone deaf to people with no choice as to what they suffer from.

I couldn't choose the awful things I have gone through since birth and would give anything to never have suffered this.

It is not a fad, or a feeling. It is my health and well being.

I was still in two minds typing this but will see it through as I wanted to convey my thoughts as a sufferer.

Thank you for saying this. I have someone in my extended family who also has a DSD and the stuff that is trotted out so thoughtlessly makes me see red. Their whole life is affected in some way.
Because it's not my own story to tell I don't feel I can say any more than the 'general' arguments refuting it.

@Lampedsomeoiks thank you so much for being brave enough to post here. So valuable to hear how that misappropriation affects you and I'm so sorry.

@Lampedsomeoiks thank you very much for posting. I think you're very articulate (though I agree with you that the Differently Normal website is brilliant!).

Lampedsomeoiks · 14/11/2022 20:55

I will be logging off for the evening but I am okay to answer any questions tomorrow and will catch up if anyone wants to ask anything. Like I said I'm not as articulate as the Differently Normal author. My heart is too firmly on my sleeve for that.

Nightmare2022 · 14/11/2022 20:52

@Lampedsomeoiks thank you for posting. I have a dd currently gender questioning i.e. referring to herself as ‘our son’ etc and I am grateful to you for sharing your perspective

Emma Hamilton has just entered the conversation....this should be good

Whatwherewherewhat · 14/11/2022 17:11

@Charley50 and if so, where would you go to voice concerns?

👍 I don't work there but I read the document about them leaving Stonewall and how the leadership stood up to the student transactivists (protesting them leaving) calmly and firmly. I watched a video of a looong discussion between a senior leader and a Student EDI officer. I think it was on YouTube. So maybe they will listen if you raise concerns?

Just looking at the financial info more closely, GI has had a massive cash injection from donations and legacies last year, almost 950k. The year before, it was less than 65k.

i know it’s a cliché … but who funds you?!?

perhaps a generous donor worrying that this charity may be about to fall on hard times?

It's so sinister isn't it.

I'd like to think I could but my nerves might get the better of me!

Female sex or feminine gender ? That’s what it really comes down to
not woman - that adult human female
feminine is a stereotype and that’s what gender is

BellaAmorosa · 14/11/2022 18:30

LaughingPriest · 14/11/2022 16:25

If they try to conflate sex with gender at any points, could you stick your hand up and ask them to clarify if they mean e.g. female sex or woman gender? It's really important not to muddle them.

@Whatwherewherewhat
This is good advice but please don't use the phrase "woman gender". There is no such thing. Don't use their words or concepts, I beg you. Maybe ask if they mean "female sex" or "traditionally feminine stereotypes"?

The Michael Biggs article is here

TheirEminence · 14/11/2022 17:57

I think Michael Biggs at Oxford also published an article about GI. Apparently, they did a training at Oxford and then launched a complaint about a staff member who asked critical questions.

GI are perhaps the reason why so many universities are so captured, they train many academics. It’s also a brilliant money spinner for them. According to the charity commission’s register, GI had an income of £1,138,641 in the year ending June 2021.
