Hi , I've noticed a lot of deleted threads today on this board.
Glitch with my app or something more insidious?

@Cailleach1 Unfortunately I fear that the proposed surrogacy bill may slip in birth cert changes all while decrying the exact same thing occuring historically. There has been so much in the Irish media about how unfair the existing situation is from the point of view of the commissioning parents that it seems to be paving the way for a change...but of course falsifying birth certs in that situation is completely different 🙄

Cailleach1 · 09/05/2022 19:27

Another one I was reading there just went. I was happy to have read the first page as it was interesting and informative about surrogacy in Ireland.

Although many think surrogacy is exploitation, it was good to read that at least there seems to be some protection for the rights of the baby and birth mother. Even if the ovum has been 'harvested' from another woman. They can't be completely ignored or erased, as happened to woman so much in Ireland.

Part of the investigations into the abuses carried out into the mother and baby homes revealed the babies birth certs had been 'altered'. Babies (at a cost) were adopted - many by Americans and exported to the US. They couldn't even find out as adults who their mother was as the records had been doctored.

For some there appear to be ongoing court cases, and perhaps it is related to court cases that have a jury, who could be influenced by outside media? Or perhaps the courts have issued notices for certain cases?

TBH I would hate that the outcomes of certain cases could be negatively affected by discussion. Rather not have the discussion and the correct result was made in court instead.

nepeta

Not sure about the correct word to use here, so I chose 'contempt', because misogyny is both too strong and not quite right as it's not active hatred from most, but just a general refusal to take female people seriously.

Yes, exactly. As someone said a while ago, the fact that as a society we believe men who claim to be women more than the actual women that claim they are not, tells us where the priorities lie.

And it's not with women or girls.

Roseglen84 · 06/05/2022 10:20

The BK thread is gone again, I find it interesting how MN states that thread about current court cases are not allowed - but there is a long standing thread about the Amber Heard case, and the Allison Bailey case. So some are ok and some aren't.

Not to mention the BK case is in a different jurisdiction. More bullshit from MN.

Why is a thread about Barbie Kardashian, gone? Barbie Kardashian is an adult, and was stated to be a danger to women by the Irish police. Although the Gardaí did (could?) not truthfully state BK's correct biological sex, thus failing to properly warn Irish women.

To this day, the Irish state does not seem to have much concern about the brutalisation of Irish women. Current or historic.

I have had a peaking experience in this context which has nothing to do with the gender identity ideology in itself, but much to do with realising the contempt with which the female sex is still widely regarded, even in countries where laws are now comparatively fair.

Not sure about the correct word to use here, so I chose 'contempt', because misogyny is both too strong and not quite right as it's not active hatred from most, but just a general refusal to take female people seriously.

What I see so much, especially online, is a bundle of beliefs about the female sex which equate to it being ignored, its rights being interpreted as 'hoarding rights', its complaints being interpreted as 'first world problems', its role being seen as one for being either an applauding audience for brave trans individuals or general support humans for the rest of the world. To do the unpaid work and to be unnoticed for it.

What peaked me was seeing so many young feminists doing this. It makes me so tired and defeated.

Another one bites the dust - the Barbie Kardashian thread gone now. How predictable.

In the deletion message, MN claim that it's partly because it is a thread about an ongoing case, but surely there are other threads about ongoing legal trials - the Allison Bailey case, the Amber Heard/ Johnny Depp one? They are allowed stand. Not to mention the ongoing case is in another jurisdiction....

It does seem as though MN just don't want us pesky women getting too near the truth about this bullshit.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 03/05/2022 12:05

Thanks. I keep getting an error message when I try to open it. Good to know it is still live though so I will keep trying. Thanks.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 03/05/2022 11:01

Hmm, this thread seems to have disappeared too:

AIBU to think that women’s rape crisis therapy should NOT be mixed-sex?

Cattenberg · 02/05/2022 14:53

It was more than that, @Heatherz.

Homophobic or transphobic posts aren’t allowed on Mumsnet and are usually deleted very swiftly. However, the same can’t be said of the utter cesspit that is Twitter.

This ought to give our Twitter monitors pause for thought, but it never seems to.

It will be interesting to see if anyone has screenshot those posts in the very brief time they were online. If they then post them on Twitter claiming they are representative of MumsNet, then well, yet another false flag attack.

I saw the deleted post, is it because they mentioned lbsoftkt*k?

Why’s that @Andersonpeak? Being LGBT doesn’t make you a groomer.

MNHQ, we need safeguarding experts like Lang Cleg.

There is so much contradictory advice about safeguarding at the moment.

If a teacher had concerns about my young child, I’d want them to tell the safeguarding lead at her school. If they thought she was at immediate risk of harm, they should call the police.

I’d be very concerned if an adult was colluding with my child to keep a secret from me. I’d see that as a massive red flag. I’d also find it unacceptable for my children’s school to make key decisions on her behalf without talking to me first. Social transitioning, for example, would be a big step.

I’m even more concerned about online support groups for children, especially those which encourage children to keep them a secret from parents. Some of these sites have “escape buttons”, so the child can switch windows instantly if an adult comes into the room.

These groups could be a good source of advice and support for children with abusive parents, but they could be a source of misguided advice or something more sinister. How can a child know who they’re really talking to?

Fieldofgreycorn · 01/05/2022 21:01

No.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 01/05/2022 20:33

Did the thread about the new Mermaids guidance that goes against EHRC guidance get zapped?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/04/2022 22:49

I think some people got a screenshot of the whole thread. There was a time lag between a deletion message and it disappearing.

Clymene · 30/04/2022 22:13

I'm really sorry that you had transcribed that @LangClegsInSpace. I wasn't sure if you had. I'm kicking myself for not archiving

Another one fuming about the deleted thread. A person with that history being invited to speak in numerous secondary schools is a real Safeguarding concern. At times like this it makes me appreciate Twitter.

Absolutely this.

This is a parenting site. Most of us are mothers. Many others are teachers, carers, HCP ... or just people who understand that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility - including Mumsnet's

We have to be able to talk about safeguarding risks that we see. We have to be able to present evidence in the face of denial and accusations of pearl clutching hysteria.

Otherwise we can't safeguard children. It's that simple.

This is a really bad look for a parenting site.
