@FindTheTruth Fully on board, as a parent in England, currently effecting change in my school for my DD, after a scary realisation of what is being allowed to drift into our schools fairly unchecked.

I would also add Genspect, Transgender Trend, Children & Women First - as useful websites and groups.
The ROGD webinar on Genspect website really interesting (and scary):

Rhonda, Wales

So the school in Rhonda bought in a charity and charity advocate, Against DfE guidance which says “Materials which suggest that non-conformity to gender stereotypes should be seen as synonymous with having a different gender identity should not be used and you should not work with external agencies or organisations that produce such material”.

^"It was suggested at the second meeting that the boy meet an advocate from a charity to talk about his feelings. “We were told that would be someone neutral, who would give him a voice,” said his father.
But when the parents read notes from the meeting with the advocate and were told by their son what had been said, they were horrified. According to a legal letter seen by this newspaper, the boy told his parents that the advocate had said that it was his “human right to be called whatever he wants” and that if his name was not changed on the school register “arse would be kicked big time”. The advocate is also alleged to have told the child that he should try wearing girls’ clothes.^"

it's incredible that teachers in Iran protect children from Ayatollahs proselytising beliefs despite the fact the country is a Theocracy not a Democracy. Anyone forcing beliefs onto people, Ayatollahs or AllSorts, don't belong in schools

I was going to say it’s ironic that the same westerners who condemn Iran for its mediaeval theocracy are those who demand that we obediently chant their own anti-science mantras. But on thinking about it, you don’t hear much criticism of theocracies from what’s called the Left now.

Yes, agree, it’s always struck me as very ironic too. Shutting people down just because what they say doesn’t conform with an ideology.

@FindTheTruth is there a reason why you missed out England and Wales in your title? Schools there are going down the same route as in Scotland, and in Wales things are particularly bad with the Labour government and their plans for the RSE curriculum.

There's also a story in today's Times about a Welsh school.

This is nothing to do with "choosing stereotypes", but the GC grift depends on spreading falsehoods.

PumpkinSpicewoman drops in to make a false accusation, as usual. And then ignore all the evidence given by other posters, that the GC view is simple observation of facts.

Following this early identification of ones own sex, children come to realise that they cannot change sex. Prior to this, they think that even though they are a girl, they can grow up to be a man, have a beard and inseminate a woman

Except adults are now trying to stop them realising this. For a number of children set on this cross-sex identification path by their insane parents, they're trying to keep this lie going.

Presumably this will all get explained properly to a child in time so they can give informed consent to the puberty blockers.

Right? Right?

But how much psychological distress is going to be caused when they eventually realise they won't really be the opposite sex? That their parents have been lying to them?

I remember two instances of lies about sex encountered during my childhood. No identity issues of my own, but they still haunt me just from finding those in authority lying.

First was a sex education book which talked at some point threw in that the man and woman had to be married.

This freaked me out for quite a while, as I couldn't figure out what marriage had to do with anything, and I was getting worried that there was some weird physical ritual involved in a marriage that no-one was telling me about. The book didn't explain why the marriage was necessary. I don't remember how that confusion got resolved, but I remember the confusion from the insane category error.

The second was reading about a "sex change" operation. This also threw me because it really didn't fit with what I knew about human medical technology. I didn't think we could do anything that fundamental to a human - if we could do that, why was everything else so primitive? I was left wondering if there was some (clownfish-style, I now know) mechanism latent in the human body that could be triggered in some way. I later found out they were just talking about cosmetic surgery, and I was so cross.

And this is just me in the 70s/80s, encountering fairly mild falsehoods. God knows what it must be like to be encountering this wall of total insanity, and actually having some personal issues in the area to work through!

Edge. Dr Katie Alcock's psychological research evidence show's you're right. "Children identify other children solely on the basis of the other children’s dress and toy preferences". and "Following this early identification of ones own sex, children come to realise that they cannot change sex. Prior to this, they think that even though they are a girl, they can grow up to be a man, have a beard and inseminate a woman (e.g. put a seed in a Mummy’s tummy); boys think they can grow up to be a woman, have breasts and be pregnant and breastfeed. Children believe that changing appearance, accessories and toys leads an individual to change sex, immediately."

I should clarify that the 'it is' in my previous post should say 'it is about choosing stereotypes'. I don't think the GC position spreads falsehoods.

But I might reconsider if you can show me a case of a little child talking about gender identity without reference to toys or clothes.

EdgeOfACoin · 18/08/2021 06:10

It is. Watch any four-year-old explaining how they 'knew' they were a girl or a boy and it invariably comes down to toys and clothing. Invariably.

Prove me wrong. Show me an article or a case of a four-year-old not referring to toys and clothing to explain how they 'knew' they were of the opposite sex. Go ahead. I've never found one.

”I grew up in Iran as a Christian. And when we went to school, as much as the government wanted to indoctrinate us, the teachers didn’t allow it,” he said. “They didn’t try to shove propaganda down our throats like the Ayatollahs did.”

“Now in the 21st century, we have social justice warrior so-called teachers trying to shove their garbage ideology down our kids’ throats,” he continued.

Good man. Iranian teachers had the courage to stand up to genuinely dangerous religious extremists. Modern western teachers bow down before gender extremists who have no real power. Shame on them.
