I struggled to even come up with a title for this thread as I am so enraged I know I will get deleted and even banned if I say what I really think.

but dont worry I went to the young woke Quakers in York with the author of the research that said there was no problem with transwomen (transgender males) being included and Ministered that I could not only no longer use the rape crisis suruvivor network but that it was also impossible to access NHS health care at hospital level because I have already been refused info about biological female clinician for a 1.5 hour hearing test in close physical proximity to the clinician. I just wouldnt go, I have severe PTS and it wouldnt have been good for either of uus and is in fact a failure of their public sector service duty to enhance relationships between "protected characteristics". Deaf as a post or re-traumatised by being forced to refuse care because a clinician turns out to be a transwoman. You have got to be kidding that is exactly the trust's legal duty.

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 21:40

we cant use rape crisis in Brighton but I made a lovely message for Harry & Maghan! and of course that can be dated as 3 Oct 2018 their research was presented to British Quakers...only one problem I AM a Quaker and known by Brighton Survivors netowrokj to be a Quaker largely because I did a ground breaking talk about sexual violence for Quakers and they received £150.

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 21:37

of course I am English but...why dont we sort a text and do them same text on BOTH. We dont need to reinvent the wheel! AND it is clear people like Liz Truss and Matt Hancock ARE listening. It took me all day to do this... so some help tomorrow and we can NAIL this. (i may nail it myself but I would be very cautious about seeing to intrude into the Scottish political arena, have we someone in Scotland?

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 21:35

I wondered that, that means designing it generically
which is OK would anyone like to help?

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 21:34

Can anyone identify a petition site that does not hound us off?

Leafstamp · 06/05/2021 21:17

YY to mission creep.

I’m not in Scotland either but Edinburgh is not so different to a city a near me. I thought it was £40k pro rata and I thought that was about right/on the low side.

toomanytrees · 06/05/2021 21:06

On the OSCR (Scottish Charity Regulator)website, here is what is listed as the object of the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre:

"In particular the Objects shall be: 5.1 to relieve the distress of women, men, boys and girls aged over 12 years who have been raped or who have experienced sexual violence and of their partners, friends and families through the provision of emotional and practical support, information, advice and advocacy; and 5.2 to advance education, through the provision of information, advice and advocacy, among professional bodies and the general public about the causes, nature, extent and effects of rape and sexual violence against women, men, boys and girls aged over 12 years, and ways of preventing or relieving the suffering it causes".

It doesn't look like it centers women. There is a strong whiff of mission creep. Perhaps the number of rape victims using their services was not enough to keep the funds rolling in and employees in jobs.

I'm not in Scotland. The pay for the CEO is listed as 40,000 for a 28 hour week. Is this high, low, generous, stingy?

They offer "trauma informed support services". It seems vague to me. Does it imply any level of quality or qualifications of the service providers?

Jacopo · 06/05/2021 20:22

Great work Pommie.

Leafstamp · 06/05/2021 20:02

Yes, the Scottish site would be an idea!

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 06/05/2021 19:59

Amazing work Pommie

If you were to set up a petition, I would sign it. The best one, I think, is

These stats are CORRECT, I have super checked them all:

Exemption from Same-Sex Exemption of the Equality Act [2010] Equality is quite different to “equity”

Your organisation exists to provide support to women (females) who have been raped and sexually assaulted, by UK Government Office for National Statistics ONS statistics 88% Female, cited by Rape Crisis (England & Wales) expressed as 1 in 5 (20%) of female adults, which compares with a 1 in 25 (4%) of all males (usually sexually offended against by other males). The ONS (8 Feb 2018) total of 88% female sexually offended against coincides very closely with the 90% total of females of Eurostats Sexual Offences in Europe (2018). Many if not all of these women – female for disambiguation, suffer ‘female specific rape trauma’, include clinical symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress that relate to proximity or physical contact with male people. The clinical symptoms of rape trauma do not discriminate on the basis of gender identity but are based on the biological reality of sex and the very different “propensities to sexually offend” 1: 112 female to male (average for 2017 + 2018 + 2019).
Biological Sex Specificity of Rape & other offences of sexual violence & or Abuse – 99% offenders are Male
Over two decades show that from 2002-2020, and even with some male sexual offenders with GRCs counted as if female, more than 99% of all sexual offenders are MALE. Included in the end notes the MOJ sexual offender statistics (2002-2020) for the larger jurisdiction of England & Wales of 59.1 million, collated by me from the bottom of MOJ spreadsheets, which might as well have been designed to conceal the biological sex reality of rape and other offences of sexual violence and abuse.

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 17:10

YES but to do that you have to complain to the organisation first (I believe)

Dear Kathryn Dawson,

Formal Complaint about appointment of Transgender Male as CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis for women

I can date my sympathy and support for transwomen (transgender males) going back to 1979, over 40 years, 5 years before I understood I was lesbian. I literally cannot believe the apparent appointment of a transwoman (transgender male) as the CEO of the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 17:04

o MOJ 2019: 126 female ct 81 ‘in-transition’ sexual offenders (both sexes) – NO GRC
o MOJ 2018: 128 female ct 63 ‘in-transition’ sexual offenders (both sexes) – NO GRC
o MOJ 2017: 111 female ct 60 ‘in-transition’ sexual offenders (both sexes) – NO GRC

NB: For the purposes of inclusion, the MOJ definition of “transgender” excludes transgender inmates with GRCs

• The above figures for MOJ-defined transgender offenders shows that the “propensity to sexually offend” transgender population both sexes is some 30-90 times higher than for women & girls – female for disambiguation.
• While low in numerical terms, they are a half to two-thirds that of the female total of sexual offenders and the one thing that is NOT is female-incidence sexual offending although it may be less than that of males.
• There would seem to be a notable absence of sexual offending by transmen who would appear to be the nicer kind of men who do not sexually violate or abuse others (88-90% female) unless there is a total media blackout of sexual offences committed by transmen (transgender females).

Please advise of the provisions, for the following possible scenarios:
• a transman (female) raped by a transwoman (male) of which there are necessarily anecdotal reports, of individuals who can’t report due to the fear of using “transphobic” language to name anatomy accurately & young women who can’t report rape due to the belief that accurate anatomical descriptions are transphobic.
• NB: 90% of all females (including transmen) are opposite sex-attracted with no physical advantage over biologically male people, how ever much they gender identify it and even with full hormonal activation in the case of a minority of transmen (transgender females).
• What are the provisions for lesbians – female and homosexual who have been coerced into non-consenting sexual activity or actually physically over-powered and raped by transwomen (transgender males) – as per “Lesbians at Ground Zero” (March 2019)

“Duty of Candour” due to an Employer?
I am disturbed to hear that the successful candidate was dishonest about his legal status, despite ‘their’ belief in their gender identity, this ‘lack of candour’ does not seem to speak well of an individual applying for such a position, especially when government assurances about gender identity have specifically involved the provision of rape crisis. It is also suggested this individual spoke out about female rape survivors needing a biologically female doctor or nurse for intimate examination, whether in the immediate aftermath of rape and perhaps for the rest of her life, with clinical triggers for ‘female-specific rape trauma’ involved.

I believe your well-intentions and ambitions for “inclusivity” have been co-opted with an incorrect legal interpretation of the provisions of both acts (above) and that the inclusion of transwomen (*transgender males) whether as service users, let alone as service providers creates a succession of compounding detriments to female rape survivors, who have no-where-else to turn and are frequently not in a position to turn down help, made on any terms.
I look forward to your earliest response.
Yours sincerely

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 17:04

I therefore request a legal explanation for this contravention of the job specification and breach of the same-sex exemptions of the Equality Act [2010] and clarification that the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does apply to all and any position within your organisation in contact with female rape survivors at their most vulnerable.
Research Shows that Transwomen (transgender males) -one of safest demographics in Western World
While it is certainly true that males commit violence including sexual violence against other males, including transwomen (transgender males), there is not the same overwhelming physical strength ratio involved and some sources suggest that transwomen (transgender females) are among the safest demographic in western countries, when statistics from such places as Brazil is removed from the totals.

I therefore request the statistical evidence upon which you may rely for:

• incidence of sexual violence against transgender population, dis-aggregated by sex, (or not) to show that this incidence of sexual violence against transwomen (transgender males) is the same or greater incidence than for females and the incidence of sexual violence against transmen (females) that shows that transmen do not share the same vulnerability as any other female.
• What is the statistical evidence that the “propensity to sexually offend” against women and girls, of the transgender population (both sexes) is the same or lower than that of… female people.
• NB: The MOJ statistics, not only of England & Wales, are characterised by extraordinarily and consistently LOW ‘female incidence of sexual offending’ of less than 1% even when over that period, it is known that those figures are artificially elevated by one or two transwomen (males) with Gender Recognition Certificates.
• What statistical measures is your organisation going to utilise to demonstrate that that there is i) zero impact on women – female for disambiguation seeking help in the first place or ii) such women withdrawing from services care when they understand this service is not sex-segregated? iii) that there is no impact on female specific rape trauma and iv) Who will oversee such evidence taking when the CEO is clearly not a disinterested party and seemingly did not engage in the ‘duty of candour’ that might be expected in the current circumstances?

Dear Kathryn Dawson,

While I believe you are acting with the best of motives, I make this complaint because, this decision is not compliant according to law nor on UK government assurances on this precise point. I believe you have not considered the statistical evidence of the sex specificity of rape and other sexual violence, nor the reality of ‘female-specific rape trauma’, as suffered by female rape survivors, following assault by men which includes clinical symptoms and statistically accurate fear of biological males.

Pommie69 · 06/05/2021 17:02

I have just sent a letter of complaint with the evidence of 3 years of MOJ statistics on sexual offenders (including 4 years of transgender sexual offenders) that the "propensity to sexually offend" of transgender population (both sexes) is 38-94 HIGHER than thata of the Female population, but slightly less than the 112 for bio-males.

It is 23 years to the day yday since i lost my teaching career for pointing out the school lving ge of 16 and the criminl responsibility of children age 10 when 99% of sexul offenders are male. The absence of sexually offending transmen (transgender females) suggests therefore that... 99% of sexual offenders are male, regardless of gender identity.

The best thing is if I could turn that into petition.
I dont know which petition sites are OK these days.

stumbledin · 06/05/2021 15:02

I think we have also got to accepted that even thought sex based rights are allowed to be spoken about on mumsnet, there are very very few other places this is happening.

So many people, not just those who have recently been at University, have totally bought into the TWAW belief.

As I said up thread, not surprising an individual trans woman would want to push the boundaries, but they are being enabled to do this by a disappointingly large number of women.

So although some sort of complaint about improperly advertising the job and the appointment (which I suspect they will just get a little slap on the wrist for) most other interested parties, ie local and central government will think they are doing nothing wrong.

But just how far and how damagins the TWAW culture is for women needing support services after suffering male violence it the absolutley heartless decision to say the only women "only" services are open to trans women.

That is putting the promotion of personal ideology above the professional provision of support services for women survivors of male violence.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/05/2021 10:34

I wondered if the code for updating the poll results was broken.

Jacopo · 06/05/2021 10:29

Definitely complain to OSCR. The ins and outs of why the appointment process was legally flawed have been well explained on the thread and I can’t see why OSCR would ignore them.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 06/05/2021 10:04

It would be oscr in Scotland.
Sorry if that's been mentioned already.

I thought it curious that the vote (87-13%) remained the same for so long, especially given many posters commenting that they had not been aware of the background.

Hotankles · 06/05/2021 09:38

@Thecatonthemat

The thread about this on AIBU filled up quickly, with 87% shocked appalled and opposed. I really don’t understand the 13% who wish to remove women’s resources in favour of everyone else. Is there exporting to the Charities Commission the best move now.? I have no faith that the politicians will intervene .What else are Scottish Women able to do? The final straw is seeing that in fact there are no woman only sessions.
Yes I was but I’ve come to realise that MN has a large following of men now. You really don’t know who is behind the username. It’s all smoke and mirrors. I was ok a thread on Twitter and the responses were very positive towards the appointment so many women congratulating him - but then I looked closer and they were actually men.
