Saw this post on twitter and it is just terrifying how he justifies this type of thinking and behavior as if it is normal. This is why we need our own safe spaces. Imagine letting this guy in ???

I don't agree that it's women's job to make that distinction.

In principle I agree, but pragmatically - we've seen what happens when it's left to men to decide which of them is a threat to women.

If women don't take an active role and just leave it up to them to decide how to handle things, they come up with solutions that damage us every bloody time.

At some point we're going to have to recognise that they're not going to be able to fix things for each other in a way that doesn't harm us unless we're actively involved and making sure our position and rights aren't undermined by clueless male idiots whose privilege blinds them from being able to sort their own shit out without inadvertently coming up with new avenues by which we can be fucked over.

If we're not involved in the process they'll just find a new way to shit on us. They always do.

Flaunch · 21/09/2020 19:11

Must be tough to be repulsive to women and to men.

gardenbird48 · 21/09/2020 18:51

It would be interesting if anyone produced some actual (factual) stats on the scale of the issues faced by the truly gender dysphoric individuals that feel unsafe using the men’s facilities. Maybe we are not giving men enough credit for tolerance of difference?

I absolutely recognise that violent men like that exist but how much grief do people with those particular differences actually get?

How does it compare with feminine homosexuals, teenagers or disabled men for example?
Teenagers and young people in cities seem to face terrible amounts of violence with gangs, sex trafficking etc - we need to assess which group, if any, receive a disproportionate amount of violence and focus resources accordingly.

Escapeplanning · 21/09/2020 18:46

I should also mention that DS had no clue that women were simply asking for existing Equality Act exemptions to be maintained and used properly in a government consultation on that very question. People know nothing about why women are labeled t*s but happily join in anyway.

Escapeplanning · 21/09/2020 18:40

A lot of people get caught up in the race analogy when it is thrown at them the first time.

My DS did it to me, asking if I thought all Muslims were terrorists. My response was that if you can't actually argue for the thing you are arguing for without bringing in something else completely then you probably haven't got an argument that will stand up.
He agreed with that.

This guy also has a post up of him being rejected by a lesbian woman of colour, including her photo, so he can shame her. He identifies as a lesbian.

Datun · 21/09/2020 18:28

A depraved attention seeker and boundary crosser.

And we all know how many of those there are out there. Social media gives them a platform, a voice, and a means of posting bloody selfies. Endless.

This isnt about transwomen. This is about men. Whether they are trans or not.

Malahaha · 21/09/2020 18:27

In particular black women are being used as some sort of gotcha. “If black women can be women why can’t TW be women? “

I too find it so very annoying. As if black women are just another subset of women, just like trans. As if we are not really women, but just a group that the real women have chosen to include. It's so insulting.

Stripesgalore · 21/09/2020 18:17

A quick google shows that this guy makes paedophilic torture art. I am not clicking on any of the links because a. It’s horrific and b. Why give him the oxygen.

A depraved attention seeker and boundary crosser.

@TyroBurningDownTheCloset

There can never be a diagnosis for identifying as a woman - it's a self-reported subjective mental state, so in the absence of veritaserum we're buggered on that one.

That doesn't mean we can't at least attempt to differentiate between males who seek to modify their bodies to alleviate psychological distress, and males who seek to violate the integrity of category woman for kicks. Neither should be in women's spaces, I agree, but the former have a medical condition that warrants accommodations (such as third spaces) whereas the latter group deserves branding with a whacking great D for Dickhead in the middle of the forehead so all women know who to avoid.

The GRC could theoretically be used to distinguish between these two subsets of males, if it's only possible to get one with intractable bodily dysmorphia, as used to be the case. Wouldn't be a perfect guarantee but would mean GRC holders as a class would present a statistically lower chance of sexually preying on women because this subset has historically been almost exclusively male-attracted.

At things currently stand, the ones with a medical diagnosis of a psychological disorder don't have any way of distancing themselves from the dickheads who are only in it to trample women's boundaries.

That said, no one gets a certificate of diagnosis to prove their legitimacy for any other medical condition (which as an aside makes life a lot harder for many people, myself included) - why are we singling out trans people / people with dysphoria for this special accommodation? I would pay a lot more than a hundred and forty quid to be able to get a certificate I could present to the assessor next time I'm hauled for an assessment instead of going through the demeaning rigmarole again.

Sorry, I may be rambling. Tl;dr you can filter by motivation, and there's merit in this even if no motivation is sufficient to access women's spaces.

I agree there is a difference. I don't agree that it's women's job to make that distinction.

If transsexuals want to differentiate themselves from transgender women, or cross dressers, I'm all for it. But it's not the job of women.

It's a battle that has nothing to do with women. And not one I would want to be involved with.

@thinkingaboutLangCleg

We need to store these tweets and crime reports so we always have them ready to show anyone who dismisses our concerns. Thanks for posting, Mamacherie.
We have the It Will Never Happen thread. I've added a link to this thread there.

ThePankhurstConnection · 21/09/2020 18:01

@Datun

And I'm getting a little tired of people saying tw like this aren't representative.

I don't give a fuck if it's representative. If it allows people like this, loads of them, into our spaces, then its bloody representative of who's coming in.

This, a thousand times THIS.

Stripesgalore · 21/09/2020 17:33

That isn’t even what happened in Silence of the Lambs so he can’t have been that obsessed with it.

The whole thing is probably a hoax.

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 21/09/2020 17:27

Yup.

Datun · 21/09/2020 17:26

If we have to have GRCs - and I'd far rather we didn't but we've a long way to go on that one - then women with your level of understanding of the issues need to have the power of veto over who gets one.

Well that would be lovely! 😁

And if I had that power, I would exclude all men. On the basis that very many women do not want to be in a vulnerable space with a man, however lovely he is.

Many women have already suffered at the hands of men and whether one is nice or not really shouldn't be something they have to give any headroom to, when they're taking their clothes off or have their knickers round their ankles, are in a hospital ward, or a prison.

To me, men aren't the focus here. What they want, don't want, any of it. It's the women who are the focus of their own spaces.

Plus, there is no real diagnosis for identifying as a woman. Other than what the person says. So on a purely practical level, I don't think you can effectively filter people out anyway.

It's a piece of piss to kid a psychiatrist, as was evidenced online, by the very many people who said they had.

MoaningMurlock · 21/09/2020 16:52

Where’s Hannibal when you need him?

That is a very dangerous individual with a fetish.

Women used to be able to warn each other of people like him.

CivilCervix · 21/09/2020 16:49

And by all comers I mean those people who do not have gender dysphoria, but who might take advantage of any relaxation in the rules for their own ends.

CivilCervix · 21/09/2020 16:48

I'm just specifically wondering whether it's wise to set the hares running based on this psycho (or any other psycho)

At least two of the key principles of safeguarding - prevention and protection require risk assessments that take into account potential dangers. 'Or any other psycho' for want of a better expression would be precisely the sort of people you would need to take into account when opening up safe spaces to all comers.

IHateCoronavirus · 21/09/2020 16:20

Bloody hell that is terrifying! To be fair though if I was a transgender woman I would not be too impressed with what it had written either!
Absolutely disgusting. How is this person not locked up in some secure unit?

Giningit · 21/09/2020 15:58

No need to do that. You asked a question and it was answered. I was just pointing out how I feel when my race is brought into this discussion, particularly by TRAs, not people like you. Race and Gender ideology are not the same thing. One is a real and material fact and one is based on belief or validation.

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/09/2020 15:57

Safeguarding and sex segregation isn't a personal attack. Nor should it be used as some kind of validation tool of you as a person , "look at me the rules dont apply im one of the nice ones"

Anyone who think safeguarding is an attack on their freedoms are probably the very people it should be applying to.

DrDavidBanner · 21/09/2020 15:54

Yeah maybe google misogynoir while you're at it

Tootletum · 21/09/2020 15:52

Right OK well I've obviously missed the point then, I'll just leave and forget about it all.
