Spoilt votes - post them here so that the parties/papers can see them

I know there is a split of opinion about spoiling ballots vs voting for the least bad option.

If you do decide to spoil your ballot it feel free to post a photo of it here (be careful not to include any information that identifies you and in particular not to include the ballot's unique identification number) in case any of our loitering journalists wish to pick up the story or in the hope of giving the parties/candidates some pause for thought.

In case it is of interest (and you want a place to post your views for/against spoiling ballots), there have been a number of threads about spoiling ballots, a few links below:

All I’m saying is if you don’t agree with something then actively do something. Don’t leave it to the last day then scribble on a piece of paper and expect anything to change

You don't have a fucking clue, do you? You actually have no idea?

People on here have been "actively doing something" for years. Often at great personal fucking cost.

So you can take your patronising shit and shove it.

howlsmovingcastle84 · 12/12/2019 17:27

Tired
Labour are panicking. They assumed we would all cave at the last minute.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 12/12/2019 17:26

Make my voice heard to myself, Hopeforthemany. When all candidates are unfit for office, I and others will let them know. Ballot spoiling is an active choice and is counted as even you are forced to admit. Interesting name btw, although it is the complete opposite of what Labour really is.

perizadah · 12/12/2019 17:26

Just spoiled mine with a hurried “woman = adult human female”

Wishing I’d written more now...

VMisaMarshmallow · 12/12/2019 17:25

If you want to discuss your opinion you can start your own thread. Alternatively you can keep peek transing all over this one. Lots of women are now ready to listen this election when they weren’t there yet at the last one, and we know that mps come on here frequently to gauge where women’s heads are about political issues, that’s old news from shiny daves days*. So keep on battering women over the head for how we are doing women’s voting all bad bad bad. Just makes it more obvious that the awa are getting desperate now, which means the politicians know that popular opinion is changing, so those who are gc don’t have to fear for their lives to do their fucking job and speak up on behalf of women, and those who aren’t will be clicking at what a huge fucking % of votes will be up for grabs in future. So please keep at it because I’m pmsl at you right now and it’s the first funny thing in days.

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:25

Women supposed to do as we're told. Is that being a liberal feminist?

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 17:25

All I’m saying is if you don’t agree with something then actively do something

And you don't think people have been " doing anything?" You really do seem to think you are in some way morally superior. You do know this forum is populated by many long term political activists, party members, trade unionists - of one shade or other, don't you? Who have been politically engaged for decades.

Melroses · 12/12/2019 17:24

Exactly. I am not apathetic. I'm extremely politically engaged and furious

Exactly.

Makes me wish I could go out and spoil mine again.

Spoil your ballot paper early, spoil your ballot paper often Grin

Seriously, I have no reservations. That makes a change from previous elections where I have always voted for someone.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 17:23

Anyone else get the feeling that people are getting a tad concerned over our little acts of defiance?

howlsmovingcastle84 · 12/12/2019 17:23

Does hope think this feminism board was created this morning? Hmm

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:21

Hope We HAVE been doing something!
Where have you been?

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 17:21

Legitimate form of protest 🤣🤣🤣it’s the cowards way out

Judging by your username you are a Labour supporter?

Perhaps then you come to my constituency in Liverpool and tell Louise Ellman Luciana Berger and Frank Field why you think their terrible experiences of bullying in their local constituency parties is acceptable and not warranting protest!

Shame on you to over-look the appalling conduct of many labour party activists - all in the name of Socialism and 'Hope for the Many'. I don't think so. What has been going on has been a disgrace; and the new candidates who have been inserted into these MPS seats are simply not as capable. Apart from Self ID, the Labour party is now fractured and undemocratic.

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:20

I know Tired. Makes me wish I could go out and spoil mine again.

howlsmovingcastle84 · 12/12/2019 17:20

I think we've witnessed the discovery of Schrodinger's ballot paper. The ballot paper that will take loads of people loads of time to read whilst simultaneously not being read by anyone.

Hopeforthemany · 12/12/2019 17:18

@Alltheprettyseahorses make your voices heard to who?? They don’t read them, they won’t come out and say x amount of votes were spoiled by women for x reason. If they did I would agree with spoiling papers. They just say x were spoiled and move on.

All I’m saying is if you don’t agree with something then actively do something. Don’t leave it to the last day then scribble on a piece of paper and expect anything to change 🤷‍♀️ common sense really

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 17:18

Now you are calling us cowards. Aww bless your heart. I guess you haven't read How to make friends and influence people then?

Snoopypants · 12/12/2019 17:17

I’m de-lurking to post that I’ve spoilt my ballot paper today. I’m a left-leaning remainer who wishes to protect women’s rights- this was the only option for me :-(
I had to explain this to a poor unsuspecting labour canvasser at my door this morning. At least she seemed to understand... shame the party leaders can’t.

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:16

Hopeforthemany - cowards way out? I informed the waiting representatives what I have done on the way out. They didn't seem surprised.
You may not be aware that women are attacked in real life for wanting their sex-based rights, so I don't blame people for being anonymous.
Why on earth do you think you get to tell women what to do?
If you don't like it, don't do it.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/12/2019 17:15

I wonder if they all had their say completing the GRA Reform consultation?

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 17:15

Who are all of thee people appearing on this thread to insult people for following their own conscience and enacting their democratic voice in whatever way they see fit? Peculiar! Especially on a women's rights board.

Also people seem oblivious to the many other reasons for wanting to spoil. Heads in sand.

Meercatsarecats · 12/12/2019 17:15

Ah hopeful it was just someone asking for a new sheet then
woman asked over to the other side, have you had any spoilt ones yet?
Man replied, just one
Woman, was it a mark in the wrong box then? (Or something like this)
Man, well I should imagine so yes.
Made me think they were counting as they went along, silly of me, obviously I was paranoid as they were talking about spoilt papers as I was spoiling mine with a big pre written sticker.
I know one of the women counting from church so that didn't help.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/12/2019 17:14

Oh god, still.

GCAcademic · 12/12/2019 17:13

If you don't turn out to vote at all then you're counted with the apathetic

Exactly. I am not apathetic. I'm extremely politically engaged and furious. And it's frankly laughable that I'm being lectured with silly little slogans about the suffragettes by people who have never engaged with this issue on here before.

MsMcWibble · 12/12/2019 17:13

Nice of the school prefects to keep this thread bumped though.

Justhadathought · 12/12/2019 17:13

If you can be bothered to make your way to a polling station surely you can be bothered to research each party and make a decision like a grown up

Not sure what makes you think that people haven't done the research. I can assure they have. I have. Lots of time and energy spent on considering this. Also not so sure why you are so personally offended or bothered? We must each vote within our own conscience.
