Houston Public Library is apologizing after a man charged for sexually assaulting a child was allowed to entertain children at Drag Queen storytime.

abc13.com/drag-queen-storytime-reader-once-charged-with-assault/5197176/

Garza was charged with child sex assault in 2008. According to records, his victim was a child under the age of 14 years old.

Yup, it's been a controversial event all right.

Trump supporter 'shows up to library with gun' because drag queen was reading stories to children

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/trump-supporter-library-drag-queen-protest-james-greene-houston-texas-a8758101.html

This latest news ain't gonna help.

Paedophilies are everywhere, so just chill. Normalise them, give them taxpayer funded access to kids - why not? They have rights too!

MeAgainAgain · 16/03/2019 12:54

?

Weird comment.

I think the idea is that as paedophiles exist in the community, known paedophiles should definitely be interacting with lots of children at effects paid for by taxpayers, and where they will be seen as trusted adults.

That's a very good idea.

People are so mean about child sex offenders aren't they. Trying to stop them from doing stuff that presents them as safe and trusted to kids. If anything, maybe we need more of this, I'd say. Peadophiles are people too!

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 16/03/2019 12:53

Article says his (refuse to call a male paedophile "her") drag name is Tatiana Mala-Niña. Which even my limited Spanish can translate as Tatiana "bad girl". But no red flags here at all, no no... (FFS!)

Popchyk · 16/03/2019 12:53

Turns out that there is a Christian group already suing the Houston Public Library for putting on the drag show in the first place.

thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/412456-group-sues-houston-public-library-over-drag-queen-story-hour

This was even before the news of a convicted paedophile being unmasked in its ranks.

Whatisthisfuckery · 16/03/2019 12:53

Man who wants to sexually abuse kids:

Option 1. Spend years training to become a trusted professional.

Option 2. Hang around in the bushes looking suspicious near a childrens playground.

Option 3. Put on a wig and a dress and pretend to be a woman/drag queen, then you’ll be given unimpeeded access anywhere you like while being lorded as brave and stunning.

I’m no clairvoyant but I’m pretty sure I can guess which one looks more enticing.

Woah that second article

Person is referred to as she throughout

Name on police /conviction is 'deadname', this is going to complicate checks?

I am aware there are a small number of women (cunty) who do the drag queen thing but it's not many and makes less sense in this context. A man who identifies as a woman has a drag act? I thought trans women in the whole disliked drag as they see it as mocking them (spectacularly missing the irony with that!).

Popchyk · 16/03/2019 12:39

Turns out this person identifies as a transgender woman.

www.outsmartmagazine.com/2019/03/houston-library-bans-drag-queen-with-criminal-record-from-reading-again-at-storytime/

Sigh.

Will update the This Never Happens thread again.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 16/03/2019 12:31

WTF is any library having a drag queen story time any way?

Because If someone under the Trans umbrella asks to do something, you bend over backwards to let them.

StephsCaddy · 16/03/2019 12:28

Creepy man who wants to hang out with other people children turns out to be a paedophile. How surprising, not.

AncientLights · 16/03/2019 12:27

Popchyk · 16/03/2019 12:14

I'll stick this on the This Never Happens thread.

HermioneWeasley · 16/03/2019 12:06

I’m SHOCKED*, shocked I tell ya!

*not actually shocked at all

Datun · 16/03/2019 12:04

Well with names like Poppin' Cherry, and Beaver something or other, colour me not even mildly surprised.

Drag queen story time allows men to dress up in sexually suggestive clothing and laud performances which celebrate sexual liberation.... TO CHILDREN.

And the people who allow it, are complicit.

You don't get to be in charge of hundreds of children if you're this fucking stupid.

GerryblewuptheER · 16/03/2019 12:04

Stop lying this never happens Hmm

TowelNumber42 · 16/03/2019 12:02

Let's invite men wearing their sexual kink outfits to read to children to encourage children to be "educated" into seeing men in sexual kink outfits as ordinary trusted adults. What could possibly go wrong?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 16/03/2019 12:00

British Airways also managed to hire a paedophile drag queen :

littlbrowndog · 16/03/2019 11:59

Why are drag queens reading storie# to kids. Isn’t that the job of the librarian.

Drag queens are scary and not fun

Who started this stupid shite

sackrifice · 16/03/2019 11:51

Weird huh?

ToeToToe · 16/03/2019 11:50

FFS. Of course this was going to happen.

BigGoat · 16/03/2019 11:41

In all sincerity I have no idea why anyone would not expect predatory paedophiles to be drawn to drag queen story time.

Cop on peeps (not OP, who I thank for posting).

Drag queen story time allows men to dress up in sexually suggestive clothing and laud performances which celebrate sexual liberation.... TO CHILDREN.

VickyEadie · 16/03/2019 11:33

I can't even try to express how fucking obvious what's going on here is.

OrchidInTheSun · 16/03/2019 11:32

Never underestimate the lengths predatory paedophiles will go to access vulnerable children

Badgerthebodger · 16/03/2019 11:27

It never happens though
