I’m not originally from the UK, but I’ve found your class system and your divisive politics very different and far more divisive than Aotearoa- although it’s changing there and a lot more polarising these days. Guess which issue has helped to do that.

There's all sorts of grassroots groups & action happening in the UK. Women can make their voices heard simply by standing up in large numbers.

Why does it have to be either or? Why does being disenfranchised by the left make you no longer left wing? The opinions of left and right wing women sometimes overlap. Why is this problematic?

When did women finding common ground stop being a cause for celebration?

I posted the link to the Hands Across the Aisle panel on Youtube upthread. It is about an hour long and really worth a watch. The situation may be different in the UK; perhaps women there will be able to stop the erasure of female sex-based rights with leftist allies alone, but here in the U.S. I believe that is simply not possible.

I have voted Democratic ever since I was eligible to vote; I have walked precincts, made phone calls, written letters, met candidates. And in 2019 it is completely taboo in Democratic spaces to say that woman = adult human female. The Equality Act is on almost no one's radar right now, but all major Democrats are onboard. If they win (and I have to work for that, because the only alternative is Trumpian/GOP nihilism) gender identity will be enshrined in federal law, overriding sex.

Obviously the right wing wants to divide the left on this issue. But it is a real division, not a false propagandized one!

As more women become aware of the impact on our rights, more women will speak out. I just want it all to come out now, in 2019, and lance the boil so that our candidates can work out their positions critically rather than march blissfully, knee-jerkedly on the side of genderist ideology right up until it hammers them in November 2020.

I don't like KH at all but I agree with her on trans issues and free speech and was glad when she tweeted quite a bit about women's sport as she has nearly a million followers. The left are completely ignoring the concerns of women, so if somebody like David TC Davies will actually meet with women, if 'shock jock' types will get the word out, I'll take the help from wherever it comes tbh.

I think it’s good that discussions can be had and differences between feminists tolerated. As far as I can see, the whole idea of ‘I stand with X’ has been very much a recent phenomenon of deciding your identity based on a simplistic image of ‘good’ vs ‘bad’ and as such part of the identity politics which has enabled debate to become so toxic and devoid of real content and argument.

TRAs seem to have one line and one opinion and if you deviate from the dominant belief (TWAW etc) you are automatically a bigot. It is the mark of a religion or rather a cult and it shows how immature and unjustifiable their arguments are. We don’t all have to agree with each other and in fact I think we’re more powerful because we don’t try to pretend we do. We still work for the advancement of or support women in general, even if not as individuals, unlike this silly modern idea that if we criticise another woman we are being a bad feminist and we should just say nice things to all women because we’re a sisterhood.

Working with different groups is a decision each woman has to make for herself and I respect both Posie’s and Jean’s opinions on where they’ve drawn the line. Maybe I don’t agree with how it’s been written about but to the TRAs’ disappointment that doesn’t mean I am tearing down and splintering feminism. Just like the ‘right and wrong side of history’ false concept, actual issues, ideas and politics are more complicated than the TRAs even seem capable of grasping.
