US Man Says He's Trans Just to Make Demands & Trouble At Work

www.wweek.com/news/2018/11/07/a-transgender-powells-employee-says-the-bookstore-refused-to-designate-a-gender-neutral-restroom-in-its-corporate-office/

No demand or complaint by someone supposedly trans is too petty or trivial and for the press to ignore.

Now self-proclaimed non-binaries apparently expect to be provided with gender-neutral toilets. Because using a restroom that isn't tailor-made exactly for their special gender identity would violate their human rights & deprive them of dignity. Or something.

It's a real mystery why this guys co-workers didn't invite him to the ladies' lunch!

It's hard to tell from the article if "ladies lunch" is the name co-workers gave the meal or if that's what Brewer labeled it.

Zeugma · 08/11/2018 15:18

Maybe if they/Zie/hir/whateverthefucktheyrecallingthemselvestoday came right out and identified as a whiny self-obsessed idiot, we’d all know where we stood right from the start.

Seriously. I’ve been watching a lot of WW1 stuff this week. 100 years ago people were DYING. And I mean LITERALLY DYING. In mud, in gas, from bullets, from being blown to smithereens in the most fucking terrible ways imaginable. Children lost their fathers, women lost their sons and brothers and husbands, men lost their lovers. Do you think any of them refused to go over the top because they were being misgendered or they didn’t have a gender-neutral toilet in the trenches?

Jesus Christ. This shit makes me so angry I could scream. Fucking grow up and learn some humility, you unspeakable pathetic ‘non-binary’ arseholes

Sorry. But seeing 100 year old men and women weeping as they remember what happened to them in a long-distant war with emotions just as painful now as then puts a lot of things into perspective.

NorasBarnacle, it wasn’t just me that winced at that, then?

"Yeah. Could the learning here be: if you make yourself bloody hard work and it's clear you'll throw a paddy if anyone gets your highly complicated language acrobatic requirements wrong, people won't enjoy your company and want to be around you. "

I think there are better ways to express your (valid) point without resorting to offensive stereotypes.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 08/11/2018 12:57

Oh, what a peach this one is!

I have to say, Brewer looks fairly unambiguous but perhaps this is a case of Gregory Murray syndrome. Is he inexplicably drawn to sparkly wellies? Because, as we know, that's the NB clincher.

Chocolala · 08/11/2018 12:51

May he’s a US cousin of Hayden.

WhereYouLeftIt · 08/11/2018 12:48

Y'know, he has an awful lot of names.

Zac, Zed and Zee.
Brewer and Brady Williamson.

His FB profile is in the name Zed Brady Williamson, yet he was employed at Powells as Zee Brewer. Almost like he didn't want them to know who he was ...

BakedBeans47 · 08/11/2018 12:39

What a pain in the arse

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 08/11/2018 12:27

I wonder if his payslip reflects his non - binary status .... is he paid less than the men but more than the women?

And we know why the women made their lunch ladies only. Working with him must be exhausting - getting away is the work version of taking their bras off at the end of the day

Knicknackpaddyflak · 08/11/2018 12:27

Yeah. Could the learning here be: if you make yourself bloody hard work and it's clear you'll throw a paddy if anyone gets your highly complicated language acrobatic requirements wrong, people won't enjoy your company and want to be around you.

Being the centre of attention at all times liked and popular is not a human right. Being [exciting identity] is not a short cut to popularity and nurture on demand without requiring effort or social behaviour from you.

PurpleOva · 08/11/2018 12:23

Jog22 Thank you for introducing me to Portlandia! I've been in stitches watching them for the last few... and I'm sure I should be doing housework or looking after sick kids or something!

It's taking all my self-control not to point out that their natal sex is NOT EXACTLY INVISIBLE, so the vast majority of the population would automatically and unthinkingly categorise them in the "diversity for women" pot, ie part of the group that should be increasing its presence in our workplace. SO 'THEY' IS ALREADY INCLUDED.

Sigh."

"People were so afraid to misgender me they would avoid talking to me altogether,"

Grin did they aye?

Yeah that’s exactly why they don’t talk to you. Totally why. What other reason could there be..?

LittleMissBrainy · 08/11/2018 11:29

Errrm @LumpSatAloneInABoggyMarsh

Do you think we could become Age Trans? Because today I don't identify with being an adult. This bloody world is too much right now.

It's currently being trialled!! 🤦‍♀️

I genuinely worry for his future career prospects.

I don't. They have a lovely future career in taking companies to court claiming that they are not employed for every job they apply for because they are "binary".

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/11/2018 11:24

Yy grace

He looks like a regular bloke. The non binary thing must have been shoved down there throats daily.

All that ridiculous palava of the toilets.

Bet they were sick of it and wanted a conversation not monopolized by sone snow flake

KatVonGulag · 08/11/2018 11:23

How can he love react to some guy calling him a handsome gorgeous guy (on his Facebook) and simultaneously be bullied for not being invited to a ladies lunch?

IT'S JUST NUTS MUMSNET HOLD ME! Grin Gin

KatVonGulag · 08/11/2018 11:19

Ha. Great vid.

Yup Zac/Zed/Zee (and I'm not even taking the piss) has a wide open profile.

He has only worked at the Powells for four months. I genuinely worry for his future career prospects.

GraceTheDisgrace · 08/11/2018 11:17

I wouldn't be so quick to call the female coworkers exclusionary for having lunch without them, I imagine they has a history of making coworkers uncomfortable. I'm uncomfortable just thinking about having to work with someone who makes so many unreasonable demands. They is probably making a mistake in taking this one to the press.

Jog22 · 08/11/2018 11:11

Here lives here, the dream of the 90's, pre-non-binary.

FrumpyTrumpy · 08/11/2018 10:52

When I really want to go anonymous I always click the "whole world" symbol on FB. It's important to let everyone know who you are right before you go anonymous.

Also and I apologise for committing literal genocide, but if zir really is the only male at zir's office then the men's toilet will only be used by zir. WHich makes it a non binary toilet, so this whole "all we want to do is pee in peace thing" looks a bit like bullshit.

KatVonGulag · 08/11/2018 10:05

Zed started out at Zac, and has just moved to Zee.

Zac was a gay man. Zed is still happy to receive compliments calling him "mister" , Zed loves compliments saying his a good looking guy.

Presumably when he officially goes with the new Zee style, he'll insist on them.

This is the height of crazy. He didn't even insist on gn pronouns on his own page. Ffs
Why does the hypocritical fool expect it at work?

KatVonGulag · 08/11/2018 09:46

Oh this is a peach. Zac/Zed/Zee this is the guy and he doesn't mind someone calling him that on his profile. In fact he loves it. I hope Powells lawyers are all over that shit

I'm going to own my prejudice now and say anyone who insists you call them zir/zee/zem is someone I would avoid talking to

I’d avoid too. Partly because it’s not English and I don’t know how to conjugate verbs when dealing with made up pronouns (of which there are a wide variety). And partly because those pronouns sound like pronouns in another language I speak and they’d just get offended by my then switching into that language every bloody time.
