Goldsmiths, home of witch hunting transwoman Natasha Kennedy needs to sort itself out.

Last night they started harassing a load of 'T*rfs' on Twitter and then today they suggested they might like to spend some time in a gulag - before going on to write a rather long, propaganda piece in their defense.

I didn't think leftists like this actually existed.

Is this a real account?

The Daily Mail has now picked this up.

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2018 16:44

There's a lot less advertising revenue for the tankie market

Don't worry, I believe this is being worked on by Ash Sakar, Owen Jones and Friends.

Tartle · 11/09/2018 16:44

Thecat I do actually vaguely know a couple of people in marketing at Goldsmith’s. Thats probably not a bad description!

Mrbatmun · 11/09/2018 16:39

Made the LGBT press... now that is surprising.

Not Prick News though?

MinesaBottle · 11/09/2018 16:37

The person they threatened to send to the gulag is an intersex advocate? Oh dear.

(I think they're also the person who contacted all the UK train operating companies to confirm that the razors under stickers thing was bollocks - sterling work there!

There's a lot less advertising revenue for the tankie market than there is for the wider pink pound.

Benefit politically to both Labour and Tories. And yes I do see it as beneficial to Labour.

KeneftYakimoski · 11/09/2018 16:00

The additional benefit of the anti-Semitism row

Using the word "benefit" in its broadest and most colloquial sense, I guess.

But yes, the Tories are happy to watch Labour tear themselves to pieces.

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2018 15:47

The additional benefit of the anti-Semitism row is that every time its talked about, neither the Tories nor Labour are talking about austerity. Which suits the purposes and current agenda of both parties.

Wouldn't it be lovely if whatever replaces the group currently being investigated wasn't actively hostile to lesbians?

Oh, I think they're equal opportunities scum, and are actively hostile to many more groups than just lesbians.

And of course, this being the woke left, a disproportionate number of the victims of the Gulag were Jewish and therefore the woke Goldsmiths students can get their jollies from a bit of implicit anti-Semitism, too.

The narrative of both Nazi and Communist anti-Semitism was that Jews were lazy and unproductive and therefore needed to be worked, if necessary to death, to prove this "point". A common holocaust denial trope is to make out that the concentration camps were actually just places of work for those legitimately punished, and any deaths that might inadvertently have happened were caused by disease, itself caused by advancing Allied troops disrupting food supplies.

It's of a piece with that to claim something roughly similar for the gulags: legitimate work, for the lazy and feckless. Who were, by an amazing piece of happenstance, disproportionately Jewish.

But dressing it up as a legitimate penal policy rather than what it was, you can claim that the victims had it coming to them.

Disgraceful. But anti-Semtism is now pretty much mainstream on the left.

According to the student union statement, there will still be support in place for LGBTQ students even though the LBGTQ+gold soc has effectively been thrown out as an official student one.

And so there should be. Hopefully one that remembers to give a bit of love and support to the LGB as well as the TQ.

Urbanbeetler · 11/09/2018 15:09

Things are gradually changing I think, to present a more acceptable representation of people who have concerns about the crossover of human rights. A more even voice perhaps. It’s definitely incidents like this which are supporting that change.

RedToothBrush · 11/09/2018 15:08

It's interesting that other than The Guardian and the BBC pretty much all major media outlets now seem to have removed their "don't publish anything that could be seen as not 100% supportive of trans activism" policies.

The BBC and Guardian sticking to it, now has the effect of looking like a 'Liberal Elite coverup' in the eyes of an increasing number of people. Which makes such a 100% positive trans policy totally counter productive in practice.

How long before the BBC and Guardian cotton on to this?

thecatfromjapan · 11/09/2018 15:05

Tartle

Do you think the Marketing department might resemble an episode of 'The Thick of It'?

I know it's wrong of me but I would love to be sat in the corner today, wearing a cloak if invisibility.

Yesterday, Monday 10th September, a member of the LGBTQ+ Society with access to their Twitter account posted tweets containing offensive material. We condemn the abhorrent content of the tweets and they are in complete opposition to the views and values of the Students’ Union.

Offensive, abhorrent, in complete opposition is hardly 'inappropriate'

Tartle · 11/09/2018 14:57

Oh it'll be fun in the Goldsmith’s marketing office today!

Well done to the SU for taking proper action though. I wonder if the other students are getting fed up with the super woke?

Urbanbeetler · 11/09/2018 14:57

There are some brilliant students and staff there. Like anything which is an establishment - like the members of MN - we do have to be wary of discounting an entire institution based on the behaviour of a few.

Lily Madigan starts there this year. According to the student union statement, there will still be support in place for LGBTQ students even though the LBGTQ+gold soc has effectively been thrown out as an official student one.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 11/09/2018 14:53

Made it to the Daily Mail.

I hope Goldsmiths can turn things around. I know they have in the past done good work on outreach to local schools, trying to increase take up of HE. New Cross is a very mixed area indeed, like most of SE London. It's great for the area to have a high profile, internationally known HEI. Not so great when it's become infamous rather than famous.

The twitter page is still there but it is locked down. You forgot the Q.
