Apparently Aimee's resigned. Unfortunately the link isn't working so I can't post it here, but I have it on good authority that it's genuine.

Let's hope so.

page does not exist anymore, so have the GP taken back control or did AC delete on her own account, clear as mud as usual

Blimey.

Didn't think that was going to happen!

sociopathsunited · 31/08/2018 16:28

What a bloody mess this whole thing is. Just as Caroline posts her flimflammery, someone finally decides to draw a line and park Aimee on the sidelines whilst they decide how to best hide their fuck up. I predict Caroline Lucas will be burnt at the metaphorical stake, seeing as she's leaving anyway and she's already volunteered to be the sacrifice, Aimee will be shipped quietly off to Siberia on a permanent basis and the Green Party will desperately try to pretend that none of it ever happened.

bitheby It is really complex and requires nuance, sensitivity and respect. It should though be considered.... carefully.

bitheby · 31/08/2018 11:21

That just brings up a whole host of other issues whereby someone gets a mental health label when they're living in a dysfunctional and possibly abusive family and haven't a) had good behavioural role models and b) are acting out against their poor care/ emotional neglect.

This just makes me feel more sorry for her really.

And I wonder why these VERY vulnerable young trans women are being thrust forward into high profile political roles? Who is pulling the strings?

Re Aimee Challenor's influence:

July 4th 2018 Huffpost interview,
"These 9 People's Stories Of Equality Show Birmingham At Its Best"

"Aimee Challenor, a 20-year-old trans woman who is the equalities spokesperson for the Green Party, described her battle to succeed despite her diagnosis with Oppositional Defiance Disorder, which manifests as defiant or hostile behaviour towards adults as a child.

“I was often seen as a troublemaker and whatnot, questioning authority. But now I’m doing politics I’m turning this negative thing, where people have said it will get in my way and I won’t be able to do things and achieve, into a positive.

“I’m using it in my politics as a tool to hold people to account.”

Has this been considered?

extract from evidence:
"In the election campaign, I was targeted because I was an openly transgender person in politics, I received tweets or direct messages calling me a “delusional child abusing freak” . I had people telling me to kill myself, comments saying “zero debate needed, just point and
laugh hysterically. This needs bullying”

I have wondered what comments are presented to MPs etc by some TRAs as evidence. I'm sure that Lily Madigan will have a number of similar comments from Social Media. Also think Sophie Cook (?) referred to some she had received after the Jo Cox event in a radio 4 interview (it also featured Kathleen Stock).

Does anyone ever look any further at who has said these, the context and / or the SM comments of those who use them? Are such comments then ascribed to all who ask questions about TR ideology and TRAs?

I absolutely condemn the vileness that seems to run rife through social media.

Also, Aimee Challoner's comments about Miranda Yardley?

AC: "We should be in a society where we teach to treat each other with respect. It comes from the top and bottom. Politics is toxic. A lot of campaigns involve negative campaigning. We need to see less of that to see a decrease in negative campaigning."

Also AC: Calls Graham Linehan a gammon.

I hadn't realised calling people gammons was actually treating them with respect.

Re Aimee Challenor's influence:

Committee of Standards in Public Life, Intimidation in Public Life: Evidence from the Green Party:
TRANSCRIPT OF HEARING WITH AIMEE CHALLENOR, GREEN PARTY CANDIDATE FOR COVENTRY SOUTH IN 2017 GENERAL ELECTION
21 September 2017, London
Committee members present: Lord Bew (Chair), Sheila Drew Smith OBE, Dr Jane Martin
CBE, Jane Ramsey, Monisha Shah, Rt Hon Lord Stunell OBE

(extracts from AC's evidence)
"In the election campaign, I was targeted because I was an openly transgender person in politics, I received tweets or direct messages calling me a “delusional child abusing freak” . I had people telling me to kill myself, comments saying “zero debate needed, just point and
laugh hysterically. This needs bullying”. It is quite clear from the most recent general election in the UK, as well as conduct during other recent elections around the world, that politics is becoming more toxic. Intimidation from activists, members, and indeed other
candidates is growing. More can, and should, be done by all parties to tackle this behaviour and offer support to candidates.
These actions should include implementation and proper enforcement of Codes of Conduct, as well as the introduction of a ‘Candidate Welfare Officer’ or similar, so that Candidates may have a point-of-contact. It is also my belief that action needs to be improved beyond political parties, social media websites need to improve at removing abusive content: too often I see “We reviewed your report carefully and found that there was no violation of our Rules regarding abusive behavior” - this has happened with some of the comments I read out to you earlier. Division in society is fuelled by social media; people feel they have an anonymous face. And it is fuelled by others behaving in a hateful way, it encourages others."

"More needs to be done by the Police, when I myself have reported abusive content to the appropriate authorities, it’s been brushed aside and eventually not even forwarded on to the Crown Prosecution Service."

"There should be a strong Code of Conduct. We [Green Party] have one and a specific policy with regard to bullying behaviour. We don’t tolerate it. There should be a welfare officer, if only to signpost further. Local Council candidates in general face it too. The public see no difference between local and national candidates"

" We [Green Party] have particular groups e.g. Greens of colour, women, LGBTIQA+ and others. These groups specialise in supporting these people - has led to better relations with the Party. At election time they form a key part of supporting those groups of people.
Generally, it’s support with emails, social media, and peer support. We did some press handling too for a transgender candidate where the local media wanted to write pieces referring to the candidate’s gender identity in a sensationalist way and the candidate was very uncomfortable with their use of language. We worked with the paper and also reported to Trans Media Watch, which did help. After we spoke to the newspaper, they did write a piece using more appropriate language."

"We should be in a society where we teach to treat each other with respect. It comes from the top and bottom. Politics is toxic. A lot of campaigns involve negative campaigning. We need to see less of that to see a decrease in negative campaigning.
With respect to the Green Party, there is an executive, and a regional committee. We can recall leadership if they are bringing the Party into disrepute. There have been no difficulties with Caroline Lucas or our other Spokespeople."

YouGov Guidance for trustees of charities:
www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-trustee-whats-involved
(extracts)

  1. Act in your charity’s best interests
You must:

do what you and your co-trustees (and no one else) decide will best enable the charity to carry out its purposes
with your co-trustees, make balanced and adequately informed decisions, thinking about the long term as well as the short term
avoid putting yourself in a position where your duty to your charity conflicts with your personal interests or loyalty to any other person or body

not receive any benefit from the charity unless it’s properly authorised and is clearly in the charity’s interests; this also includes anyone who is financially connected to you, such as a partner, dependent child or business partner"

"When you and your co-trustees make decisions about your charity, you must:

act within your powers
act in good faith, and only in the interests of your charity
make sure you are sufficiently informed, taking any advice you need
take account of all relevant factors you are aware of
ignore any irrelevant factors
deal with conflicts of interest and loyalty

make decisions that are within the range of decisions that a reasonable trustee body could make in the circumstances
You should record how you made more significant decisions in case you need to review or explain them in the future."

HuffPost article January 13th 2017 by Aimee Challenor
"Three years ago, when I was sixteen years old, I took a huge step in my life: I went to prom. I went to prom, like hundreds of thousands of school leavers that year, and, just like so many others, I wore a dress to prom. That's how I came out as transgender to my conservative private secondary school.

Three years is both a very short time and an eternity. In those three years, I've grown, I've become a trustee of Coventry Pride, a registered charity, and been involved in organising our local LGBT+ celebration since 2015. I joined the Green Party, was elected chair of LGBTIQA+ Greens, and now find myself the equalities spokesperson for the party. I've grown. I've progressed. I've achieved. I am still growing."

28th August 2018 Coventry Pride Statement:
"Mr [David] Challenor volunteered for the Charity in 2015 and 2016 he assisted with event set up and take down, and designing some posters and leaflets. The Trustees were made aware of criminal proceedings being taken against Mr Challenor in November 2016. A directive was issued to those responsible for volunteer recruitment that Mr Challenor was not to be accepted as a volunteer at the Charity’s events and if he attended public events organised by the Charity he was monitored by the trustees. Mr Challenor no longer has any links with the Charity."

Re Aimee Challenor influence:

Challenge to Pride London in response to 'Get the L Out' protest.

Aimee Challenor organised petition/open letter challenging the organisers of Pride London:
(extract from PN)
"The letter is signed by more than 2,000 members and allies of the LGBT+ community, including leading trans women campaigners.

These include Sarah Brown, a member of Stonewall’s Trans Advisory Group, and Natacha Kennedy, deputy chair of Camden & Islington LGBT Forum.

It’s also signed by Owl, a non-binary trans activist and filmmaker, who wrote an opinion piece for the Guardian, rebuking the anti-trans campaigners.

Speaking to PinkNews, Challenor said: “Saturday’s transphobic protest was a horrifically exclusionary display of discrimination and Pride in London really should have known better.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the open letter to know that so many members and friends of the community all around the world have our back when standing against hate is wonderful."

Aimee Challenor, 20, from Coventry, said permitting the protesters to lead the march was "horrific exclusionary behaviour"
www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/calls-london-pride-organisers-resign-12879839

London Economic article:
"Speaking today, she said: “I started the open letter because I wanted to help make a difference so that it wouldn’t happen again, but I knew I was just one voice out a very large community, and so rather than just trying to be one small voice, I put together this open letter so that we could have a big collective voice as our community, and it’s taken off with so many supporters."

www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/over-1000-people-have-signed-an-open-letter-condemning-pride-in-london-for-letting-an-anti-trans-group-lead-the-march/09/07/

As Pink News article demonstrates there was a collective response from Stonewall's Ruth Hunt, Sarah Brown (LibDem), Natacha Kennedy, Owl etc all of who are prominant TRAs.

LibDem Voices article refers to cross-party response and also additionally includes NUS LGBT+

Re Aimee Challenor influence:
challenge to BBC May 30th 2018
(extract)
"As our national broadcaster, the BBC has a duty to be fair, honest, and accurate in its reporting. These values are embedded in the Royal Charter that is the constitutional basis for the BBC. So you can imagine my surprise yesterday afternoon when a colleague flagged to me that I’ve been mentioned in a BBC News article about people being suspended from Twitter. No reporter had spoken to me for a comment, no-one had told me it was going to be published, and yet, there it was. It turns out that I hadn’t just been named in passing but as an example. The BBC had published claims made by a transphobe that I was a man. Such a claim is highly inaccurate and deeply offensive. I felt let down by the BBC that they would share such abuse without even speaking to me."

comment about 'transphobe' refers to Miranda Yardley who is transexual

This was in response to BBC article 29th May which was edited the next day:
'Twitter 'bans women against trans ideology', say feminists'

(extract)
"Update: This story, first published on 29 May 2018, has been updated to include a response from the Green Party's Aimee Challenor."
