As I was saying about the police.....

Wtf is "misgendering"?! Genuinely have no clue what this might be and whatever it is was totally and utterly non-intentional.

To those who doubted - this is 100% genuine.

To those who thought I was being rude that night - I'd like to make the point that nothing I said was directed at the person. I was making genetic statements for the purpose of conversation, not carrying out a personal attack on one person.

If this stays up then I will post a screenshot of the text I received from the PO.

Excellent result, OP. The only thing that would have made this better is if the police said they were going to warn the complainant about harassment of you and waste of police resources.

Can I also say that I am also very happy that this thread remained, and the bullies who reported your other thread didn't get their way of silencing and manipulating you this time. Thank you mods!

LaSquirrel · 08/08/2018 06:31

Good result Winnie, hopefully no more will come of this rather silly episode. Frankly if that person is doing this to others, they could be charged with something like 'wasting police time'.

I brilliant podcast I listen to (all killa no filla) was saying that the complaints to the police from two women are equal to a complaint from one man.

Oh seriously? It takes the word of far more than two women to be equal to one man. As per this case from 2006. Two female teachers vs one male doctor. They believed him, not them.

Or look at the attrition in the cases of Worboys or Mitchell. It takes many many more than two women to be equal to one man, most of those women's voices were dismissed before court.

The figure seems closer to 20:1.

Bespin · 08/08/2018 06:30

glad that all worked out well for the OP.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 08/08/2018 05:11

Rather reminds me of the old joke:

"I didn't come here to be insulted!"
.
"Well, where do you normally go?"

SturdyEarmuffs · 08/08/2018 03:24

Well the original description of events have been described on twitter as "ruining a TW life" by TRAs so on that basis, I'm guessing exaggerating/misrepresentation/hyperbole/'alternative facts'. Any/all of those things.

thebewilderness · 08/08/2018 03:20

I have been puzzling over what claims they would have had to make to get an investigation opened in the first place.
Then I remembered the bogus training of police officers and schools that the transgender organizations do and the fraudulent Equality Act documents they disseminate and suddenly it makes perfect sense.

Igorina · 08/08/2018 02:56

I don't either, bewilderness.

The only way I can rationalise it is that TRA's have created an atmosphere via the press and social media that their struggles are the equivalent of the civil rights movement and/or the Holocaust.

You can imagine the "I am totally a victim of a hate crime - Imagine if I were..." conversation that led up to them going to the police.

JuneOsbourne · 08/08/2018 02:38

I was one of the suspicious people on your original thread Winnie. Sorry about that (so many trolls around here at the moment!). Glad to hear this is all being dealt with sensibly.

thebewilderness · 08/08/2018 02:21

I still do not understand why the report of two people in a verbal disagreement at a friends house would elicit a police response.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 08/08/2018 01:55

Thanks for the update, Winniesalot. It's encouraging that this incident seems to have been dealt with using common sense.

SturdyEarmuffs · 08/08/2018 00:57

What a sensible outcome. Never saw that coming, given the current climate.

Thanks for updating OP.

BarrackerBarmer · 08/08/2018 00:46

I'm relieved it went well, and that you didn't get the West Yorkshire experience!

Hope things settle for you now.

Winniesalot · 08/08/2018 00:18

It wasn't an interview. I wasn't asked questions. I wasn't cautioned. It was an informal discussion of the alleged hate crime, no more than that and there will be no further action taken. Basically he wanted my side of the story so he can tick boxes and close the case.

He said that he was going to tell the TG person about the outcome, but he thought that he wouldn't do it today because he felt that TG would think that it hadn't been dealt with properly.

To clarify, at NO point did I make any direct comment on TG herself. Where I've said "You", it has been in a general sense.

OP posts:
Winniesalot · 08/08/2018 00:09

I haven't read through all the comments yet - my apologies.

PO came round and he was absolutely lovely. He told me what had been said from TG person and what my friend had said as a witness, which was that TG person had been volatile that night, had told me to "fuck off" and that she considered there were no abusive remarks made.
I explained the context and he basically told me that he wasn't going to take it any further, never had been, he was just tying up loose ends. Apparently TG person wanted this dealt with "at the highest level" but it's been dealt with at the lowest. He said that the specified comments made that night wouldn't even be considered low level abuse. He insinuated quite a few times that he felt the complaint was totally unnecessary and not a good use of police resources.

Oh - the other thing that went in my favour was the fact that this alleged hate crime took place 7 weeks ago but it was only reported this week. Hmm

To those who asked about the catalyst thing, they aren't my words but those of my friend. From how she explained it to me, I had the conversation and then quite a few of the regulars in the pub came forward and said openly that they agreed with me. That's what I was led to believe, I never had anyone say anything about it directly to me.

So all in all, it was a sensible conversation with a sensible outcome.

BertrandRussell · 07/08/2018 23:52

"I don't believe at all that OP said she promulgated other attacks on the trans woman"
She said that her remarks were a catalyst for lots of other remarks addressed to the transwomen from other people at the local pub. Those were her words. And she has not explained them.

Sad state of affairs when that is how low the bar is set for "reasonable.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 07/08/2018 20:53

Although as persistent TRA posters on here go, they are at the "reasonable" end of the spectrum.

No. I think it dresses up like that but sometimes its slip shows...

ScienceIsTruth · 07/08/2018 20:49

Would all you women please stop presenting evidence and coherent arguments to support your views, it is most unfair, and extremely irritating to TRAs.

You're not playing nice, and it's most unwomanly to show yourselves to be smarter than a man. I mean, have you no decorum??!!

You must all work on smiling and nodding sweetly and being in awe at the nonsensical powerful arguments that they're presenting us with.

After all, us women aren't meant to have opinions, let alone be good at debating them. It's really mean of you all to show everyone how weak the TRAs arguments are, and to do it in a reasoned, calm manner. You're women, you're meant to get hysterical!

nauticant · 07/08/2018 20:41

It's wise to be skepical about the OP. It might all be true, but we are on the Internet after all.

RatRolyPoly's fairy stories can be disregarded. Everything they say is just to push the TRA line. Although as persistent TRA posters on here go, they are at the "reasonable" end of the spectrum.

NotMeOhNo · 07/08/2018 20:33

I don't believe at all that OP said she promulgated other attacks on the trans woman. Rat is misconstruing things again, in a rather manipulative way.

She said that the police told her that her conversation coincided with other apparent invalidations.

misscockerspaniel · 07/08/2018 19:20

Beginning to think that Winnie has been arrested and handed-over to Stonewall for re-education.

RaininSummer · 07/08/2018 19:15

Nothing from OP yet? Hope all is ok and she did take the advice given. Scary times when facts and perfectly sensible discussion results in police visits.

thebewilderness · 07/08/2018 19:09

As we see from this thread there are still many males as well as transgenders who consider any disagreement or questioning of their beliefs by women to be an attack and if the woman repeats the offensive behavior of contradicting a male they are committing a crime and will be reported for remedial action to the thought crime police.

These are the threads that remind me that narcissists can not see anyone but themselves.

R0wantrees · 07/08/2018 18:57

dark did you really not know about the Samaritans' advice? That talking about suicide promotes social contagion? It's talked about often on here.

Plus the Samaritans relentlessly point out that suicide is never, or rarely, attributable to one thing.

And that talking as though it is, is irresponsible.

and also to add Dark that there are many here who work / have worked responsibly with vulnerable groups of children and or adults and so do understand this.

Furthermore, there will be many people on the boards who have been personally affected by suicide / self-harm / emotional distress.

EntropicTupperwareDrawer · 07/08/2018 18:54

Hey, OP, any update? Hope all is well.

I also missed the sturdy pyjama affair, but what a weird, weird suggestion to deal with anything except a chilly winters night.
