The bbc are actively promoting harmful and inaccurate medical advice.

M by proxy?

Bowlofbabelfish · 02/07/2018 10:00

These drugs are not harmless

Apart from all the times they are given to other children who are not trans for other conditions in relation to pubity then are they OK

bespin - these drugs are powerful, irreversible and have effects on multiple system. Including 8-10 IQ point loss, cognitive damage, osteoporosis, joint problems, metabolic issues, endocrine issues.

That’s just the ones we know about, because nobody is overseeing this from an ethics/medical point of view.

These drugs also put a child on a psychologically irreversible path - they are far less likely to feel they can stop once any treatment starts.

This is going to be a huge scandal. The bbc are actively promoting harmful and inaccurate medical advice.

Recent article which has some relevence:

"THE rights of Scottish schoolgirls are being undermined by rules allowing pupils to adopt a different gender and share changing rooms, it has been claimed, as it emerged schools are unprepared for the controversial overhaul.

A series of Freedom of Information (FoI) requests have revealed that councils have widely backed guidelines produced by organisations campaigning for the rights of transgender people but have not considered how the new approach will affect children – particularly girls.

The new guidelines tell teachers that if a transgender pupil wishes to share a changing room with "other young people who share their gender identity," they should be allowed to do so.

"There is no reason for parents or carers of the other pupils to be informed," it adds.

The guidelines say young people should be able to compete in the sports events for the gender they identify with, and says if other pupils are uncomfortable using changing rooms or toilets with transgender pupils, they should use other facilities or wait until the transgender pupil is done.

However none of the councils involved, nor the children’s commissioner, nor Education Scotland have carried out an equality impact assessment to ensure the rights and wellbeing of other pupils are unaffected. This means the impact on other students has not been taken into account." (continues)

I tried to comment on the tweet and found it has disappeared. Are the BBC silencing any dissenting voices? Censorship

I would imagine that as so much of the focus of the program is on the Hate Crime that people in the transgender community experience, the show may be taking a pro-active approach to ensure that there is no possibility of allowing anything which may be thought by some in this community to contitute hate crime to be allowed.

If it's not fair and balanced, report it

Is there ever a discussion which does not refer to statistics about vulnerable young people's suicide ideation/attempts?

Samaritans have long established and respected guidelines for media discussion.

I tried to comment on the tweet and found it has disappeared. Are the BBC silencing any dissenting voices? Censorship. Absolutely disgusting.

TheQueef · 02/07/2018 09:28

Is it me or was that just a promo clip? So earnest but so blase at the same time.

Pratchet · 02/07/2018 09:28

It's nothing but exploiting the suffering of gender non-conforming children in order to force the agenda of mainly middle-aged males. This is horrific. Should never have been approved.

R0wantrees · 02/07/2018 09:26

Teenagers on at 10am.

ItIsOnlyAnOpinion · 02/07/2018 09:24

I just can't support this any more. I am going to cancel the TV license, I am not paying for this.

TheQueef · 02/07/2018 09:24

Watching this now.

Hard going.

Pratchet · 02/07/2018 09:23

Me neither. Lots of validation on the timeline for the Mermaids line Confused

ItIsOnlyAnOpinion · 02/07/2018 09:16

It will be footage places like the Mail will use against the BBC once the scandal breaks, I have no sympathy for VD.

Pratchet · 02/07/2018 09:16

Shock I'm watching
It's like a sales pitch Shock

LangCleg · 02/07/2018 09:10

Yes, LangCleg. I suppose my point was that while it's understandable that some parents think in this way, and they can be contained in many situations, it's a different order of things when it comes to the trans issue.

Exactly. The prevailing cheerleading environment is basically validating narc parents when, ultimately, this will not actually help the child in social relationships with his/her peers.

colouringinagain · 02/07/2018 09:10

Appalling article Angry sadly at work so can't tweet, hope you guys can.

Pratchet · 02/07/2018 09:09

Found the new narrative

'Mean feminists are ignoring trans teenagers by worrying about women's safe spaces'

ItIsOnlyAnOpinion · 02/07/2018 09:07

Why are licence fee payers funding the BBC to promote a new religious belief?

I am considering cancelling my TV license. I don't watch much TV anyway. Why should I pay for BBC propaganda so Tom, Dick and Harry can use the public service to promote using the public as props...?

ItIsOnlyAnOpinion · 02/07/2018 09:02

When the scandal comes out, the BBC will have to answer the public as they did post Savile, a different scandal, same culture.
