So the official Labour position is currently: 'Anyone can self id as a woman unless we think they're taking the piss'? But they don't seem very keen to define exactly what 'taking the piss' looks like, other than making LM cross?

Hackmum - church school admissions do have a set of rules - if you follow them your kid gets a place regardless of your beliefs. You'll sometimes see threads on here complaining about the hypocrites taking the places of true believers. Like the LP, if you have criteria that can be abused, they will be.

The difference is the LP seems to be breaking its rule and not allowing David to self ID. I can't see what rationale they have other than that they're really applying a 'we know one when we see one' policy. Which makes a nonsense of self ID.

I think it is shocking and transphobic that the Labour Party wont acknowledge your lady-hood - are they trying to deny your very existence?

It would be great to see the Labour party put the confusion to bed once and for all, I'm looking forward to them telling us what is needed to be defined as a woman in order to put yourself forward. Maybe it involves makeup, skirts, liking nail varnish? Perhaps you need to be defining as a woman on a set number of days. Oh dear, it's such a mystery!

Ms Lewis, do you identity as female from 0.00 hours Wednesday, or does it start when you wake up. Additionally, if you only identify as female from the time you wake up, do you stop identifying as female at midnight?

Essentially, are you a lady for the full 24 hours?

Honestly, I learned my politics at the knee of old-school Labour women, mostly now dead. They are currently spinning in their graves at the absolute shitshow that the current Labour leadership is making of the entire Labour party.

It reminds me very slightly of those C of E schools that prioritise admission to the children of practising Christians. The rules encourage non-Christians to lie by attending church, having their children christened and so on. This way non-Christians are indistinguishable from Christians - until one of them admits to what they're doing, and then they're presumably out on their ear. So a man hellbent on abusing self-ID can do it quite easily, whereas a man who admits that that is what he is doing is disciplined.

And what everyone else has said on this thread. It is so important, and I don't think the wider world has got it, and for some reason has no idea of the depths that people will go to subvert laws like this (without letting anyone know that is what they are doing).

Councillors are key to this. They run the facilities like public pools and toilets etc.

Now with a suspension, the Party will presumably need to define what a “self-identified woman” is, in order to show that I am not one.

They need to do this but seeing as though they haven't been able define women, I can't see it happening anytime soon.

Also it may have been mentioned elsewhere but the Twitter accounts for Venice Allan mayday4women Miranda Yardley and a few others have all been suspended.
