I saw a great Ricky Gervais sketch about the father of the Jenner family’s driving history....
Totally unrelated to this thread of course.

They’ve booked a meeting room.
Important to recognise that the ability to do this enabled the 'We Need to Talk' meeting to go ahead after Millwall cancelled their booking.

"Transgenderism and the War on Women" hosted by David Davies MP (not the one dealing with Brexit!)

& for which David Davies investigated:

Maybe Riz Ahmed and Idris Elba would care about this, and consider becoming involved?

Terfulike · 04/05/2018 16:45

Perhaps we could send someone to speak to Senate? Any ideas?

the second one, where the children were creeped out enough to set a trap.

Poor kids. Must've been awful seeing your dad do that on camera.

Opheliah · 04/05/2018 16:35

Lol I didn't. Miss perfect.

I meant I didn't see (your message)

Opheliah · 04/05/2018 16:34

Upstart I didn't but maybe you misgendered. It's easy to do without realising.

UpstartCrow · 04/05/2018 16:32

@SpareRibFem the second one, where the children were creeped out enough to set a trap.

Amalfimamma · 04/05/2018 16:31

Ffs. Having Jenner speak about diversity in the Uk is like having peppa pig speak to. Parliament about vegan rights.

LangCleg · 04/05/2018 16:31

It's the Channel 4 Diversity lecture. The two previous, Riz Ahmed and Idris Elba, have been very well attended and reported. (Riz's was particularly good and is on YouTube if anyone's interested). The choice of Jenner looks like a piece of trolling in comparison. I can't imagine what C4 were thinking.

boatyardblues · 04/05/2018 16:29

Given that the talk is also focussing on diversity and homophobia, wouldn’t it be great if Linda Bellos also had the opportunity to speak at the event?

IamNotDarling · 04/05/2018 16:24

Hang on, hang on. Buzzfeed are misrepresenting what will happen here. They’ve booked a meeting room. Some MPs will turn up. It’s not an address to Parliament.

TrumpTrump · 04/05/2018 14:47

Gender season?

I hope they begin by defining the word... something tells me they won't.

I don't know, the words 'conspiracy theory' keeps popping up in mind....

LizzieSiddal · 04/05/2018 14:28

An American rich, white, privileged man who became a transwomen.

Wtf will they know about diversity in the UK?

UpstartCrow · 04/05/2018 14:26

Thank you @Truscum Flowers

Truscum · 04/05/2018 14:24

Since when did saying things, that a celebrity has put out there themselves, warrant deletion @MNHQ?

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 14:21

It's an absolute insult to the many diverse people of this country to select Caitlyn to speak.

And it will be interesting to see what the following 'Gender' season offers!

*Hang on, is this piece of gossip true?

Blame the Director of Programming for Channel 4 then, Julie. Just one thing to bear in mind before you do though, he's called Ian Katz & he's married to Mumsnet CEO, Justine Roberts

Had a quick google and seems to be true.

UpstartCrow · 04/05/2018 14:11

My first deletion.
Mods cant delete the web page where Caitlyn talks about Caitlyn's behaviour, in an after dinner speech.

When your daughters are so freaked out about what is happening with their clothing they set up a web cam to catch you, its not 'cute'.

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 14:06

Thanks for the clicks, Ova!

Theshittyendofthestick · 04/05/2018 14:06

You are fucking shitting me. Jenner? The over privileged white male born millionaire? Helping us to understand diversity and discrimination? Fucking ridiculous!

R0wantrees · 04/05/2018 14:02

There is an urgent need to separate women's rights and concerns from that which is regarded as being 'anti-trans/ transphobic'

The Women's and Equalities Committee must surely be asked to consider the impact of misogyny as a matter of urgency?
www.parliament.uk/womenandequalities

"The not-remotely funny thing is, it is these women and transwomen who are being removed from office, interviewed under police caution, verbally abused, threatened, intimidated, shoved, beaten and surrounded by baying mobs of these terrifying TRAs. This is not a few crazies sounding off on Twitter. This is real.

To our politicians: will you speak up now against this avalanche of violent misogyny? If not, why not?"

Woman's Hour
'The Manosphere'
This week Alek Minassian was arrested and accused of killing 10 people in Toronto when he drove his van into them. Just before the attack, he posted praise on social media for the 'incel rebellion' - an online community of men united by their inability to convince women to have sex with them. The incel rebellion is just one of a number of men's rights groups that have been accused of vulgar sexism, under the umbrella collective of the 'manosphere'. We hear from Mike Wendling an assistant editor at BBC Trending, and Ruby Lott-Lavigna an online journalist who's spent time undercover exploring the manosphere and the people behind it.
