“If only the trans-lobby had an iota of self-knowledge and respect towards women who have come by their consciousness through the long hard slog of growing up female rather than by the skill of the surgeon’s knife. And if only the likes of Mumsnet and the Guardian – who are belatedly taking on the trans-lobby – had had the nerve to be feminists five years ago.”

Answering the post about wether Bi-Sexual women exists, yes they do , many of us have been caught out over the years, meeting women who claim to be Lesbians then finding out the lodger is the boyfriend !
and then wants to join in or watch , I don't share my g/F with nobody and certainly not men! which leaves more for the straight women
these days its fashionable to be Pansexual , whatever rocks your boat ?

I have many straight women colleagues and friends they know and I know there is nothing there for either of us , its like straight women falling in love with Gay men
I don't hate anyone , apart from my brother ha ha

but even if I was single I wouldn't date a bi-woman , or mess with one or mess with our straight female friends if she was drunk !

but that hasn't stopped their husbands and boyfriends trying it on , when we have our womens only dinner partys , and their DH turn up early to our house to collect our straight female friends , and get pissed off when my G/F or myself wont let them in our house !

we right all the worlds wrongs ! you should try it sometime !

The article was mostly about Julie burchhill and about how male to female transsexuals can be aggressive and intimidating on Twitter.

It didn't go into specifics on why many people object to the agenda that the most aggressive transwomen are pushing. I read it as how JB and her mates have suffered at the hands of TRAs, which makes it look like a media/internet spat. I don't think anyone not knowing the details of what is actually happening would be anymore enlightened.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 19/04/2018 21:00

I agree that Dittany was waaaay ahead of the game several years ago. I too thought she was too hard line and transwomen just wanted to be who they felt they were, couldn't see the problem with that then. I still don't see a problem with transwomen being who they are BUT I totally disagree with the current trend for self-ID without any safeguards, AND the erosion of women's rights.

I also will never subscribe to being called a cis-woman.

DillyDillyDally · 19/04/2018 20:28

"If y'all want to support a homophobe who only targets female bisexuals, and call yourself feminists"

Found the TRA. What is it with them and that word? Also, have they been back yet after being provided with links about trans women committing assaults in women only spaces? No? Thought not.

They did stick around longer than usual. Perhaps they will be back once they've had their script updated.

so is it really unreasonable to suggest that the industrial qualities of artificial hormones which are vital to male-to-female transition might make the lucky recipients a little, um, excitable?

teehee just watched a very funny BBT episode last night, the one where Wolowitz has been applying oestregen ointment to his mother, without wearing gloves. 😂

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 19/04/2018 19:42

One lesbian acquaintance went so far as to point out that for centuries women have been accused of being slaves to their hormones – many women themselves, while bridling at this, do like to make a right old song and dance over PMT – so is it really unreasonable to suggest that the industrial qualities of artificial hormones which are vital to male-to-female transition might make the lucky recipients a little, um, excitable?

Love the way she turns the daft argument back on it's head here.

Juells · 19/04/2018 19:36

Grin Dream on.

FizzyGreenWater · 19/04/2018 18:22

HollyBee is too busy sitting reading this and other threads, biting her/his lip, and thinking 'I'm on the wrong side.'

Merchfach · 19/04/2018 17:27

I can only presume that HollyBee1 was referring to worldwide statistics, but as we are talking about changes to legislation here in the UK perhaps we need to concentrate on UK data.

But yes, hey, everyone, please stop literally killing transwomen, eh?

thebewilderness · 19/04/2018 17:23

Mamaryllis
Dittany is a peach. We used to talk on forums and at Twisty's blog as well as at the foot of someone's stairs. She always spoke highly of Mumsnet. I joined MN to yell at you for being mean to her. Then, like her, I fell in adorable with the place and have been here off and on ever since.

It is a fact that women were encouraged to never say no to anyone by the corporate media and other unethical people. Bisexuality has been presented as a fashion statement/fad and a reality. Feminists like JB and JB talk about these things because it affect their life.
I am puzzled that peeps like Holly do not see the similarity between young women being told that they are selfish and exclusionary then and now.

ThisisSparta · 19/04/2018 17:23

I see HollyBee was provided with a link to records of violent and sexual assaults committed by transwomen, and has not made comment on it, even after stating that if transwomen had committed violent and sexual assaults then she would of course rethink her position. Funny how much that happens.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/04/2018 16:43

Merchfach
That is interesting information. But hey, we women are literally killing transwomen. Hmm

Merchfach · 19/04/2018 16:37

Holly Bee 1, could you clarify where you get you idea that transgender people 'get murdered on a regular basis' from, please?

It's true that women get murdered on a regular basis, around two a week most years.

But as this opening comment on a Mumsnet thread indicated in November 2017, there is little to support what you say.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3080711-UK-transgender-murder-rate

This post makes the point that of eight reported murders of transgender people from 2008 to 2015 only six turned out to have been actually murdered and of those

3 were sex workers killed as an outcome of their sex work
2 were killed for financial reasons
1 was killed by another transgender person

Of course if you have the facts to support your claim I will be happy to change my view of the situation but as things stand it would appear to be more dangerous to be a woman than a transwoman.

LangCleg · 19/04/2018 16:26

The hills are alive...

... so don't bloody piss off the Julies. They'll set the hills on you.

Teacuphiccup · 19/04/2018 16:25

‘Me juuulie,
I’ll be loving ya truuuly,
From me head down to ma goooolies,
Ya really turn me on with ya big Babylon’s’

Damn that’s gonna be stuck in my head all day.

Weezol · 19/04/2018 16:14

In 'Bad Girls' (on ITV) the 'Two Julies' did allow another inmate to become a Julie. But the inmate eventually returned to her old name and old ways.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 19/04/2018 16:09

Oh yeah

I went there

Fact!

ReluctantCamper · 19/04/2018 16:06
Shock

Oh no she didn't!

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 19/04/2018 16:02

Right

Controversial post coming up

I prefer 'julias' to 'julies'

There ive said it...flame away

ReluctantCamper · 19/04/2018 16:01

But can a non Julie ever become a Julie if they weren't socialised that way from birth?

LangCleg · 19/04/2018 15:58

I'm really not keen on this anti-Julie feminism. Julie rights are human rights.

ReluctantCamper · 19/04/2018 15:57

And fascinating post Mamaryllis

ReluctantCamper · 19/04/2018 15:56

I think Julies are the way forward. Maybe we all change our name to Julie, overcome that nagging voice always telling you to be nice and take over the world.

Mamaryllis · 19/04/2018 15:50

It must be time for me to repeat my apology to Dittany again. Grin I used to argue with her for hours that transwomen were no threat to women’s rights. The ones I knew weren’t. I just felt a bit sorry for them, because they really were trapped in a gendered ideology that most women were trying to break free from. But she could see the new wave of gender warriors that were revving up to erase sex based rights and move the gender debate backwards several decades, enshrining gender stereotypes in law. Sorry (again) Dittany. You were waaaay ahead of me.
The interesting thing is looking back to the parallels of the last time there was a concerted attempt by men to shut down FWR. Same shit, different day. Outing of posters. Hounding in real life. Discussions about whether the board should be hidden for posters protection. People yelling that it’s all their own fault because feminists are evil man-haters. Blah blah.
Give it another ten years, Holly. You’ll be apologizing too.

2rebecca · 19/04/2018 15:46

There's also Julia Hartley Brewer. Also opinionated and DNGAF and nearly a Julie B.
