Let's hope he doesn't take Labour down with him.

Ereshkigal · 17/02/2018 11:36

He will slip up eventually. He's not going to stop. And he has no filter in that echo chamber of fawning sycophants. No way to see what going too far might mean.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/02/2018 11:35

Hopefully this "lesbian" party will end up being a bunch of TIMs awkwardly attempting to pretend that they believe each other's bullshit.

CapnHaddock · 17/02/2018 11:32

TBH @AngryAttackKittens, every single lie he tells gets believed by the brocialists so I'm not surprised he thinks he's completely untouchable. I agree it's pathological though.

Someone on my twitter timeline posted a lovely comment from Heather Peto, who on an AWS and on the Jo Cox programme. Heather was looking for friends to go to a 'lesbian' party because he fancied putting his cock in some women. Reading Heather's livejournal page, I'm astounded they have a PhD. I also wonder why they were suspended without pay from their job.

The Labour Party do fuck all due diligence do they?

AstraiaLiberty · 17/02/2018 11:28

Just going to leave this here. Another young Labour member asked Lily for advice on standing as CLP women's officer. His response?

This woman is all of us.
AngryAttackKittens · 17/02/2018 11:28

It almost looks like they anticipated the audience's desire to flee and moved the big bench thing to block the door so they couldn't.

Narcissistic personality disorder, imo.

I wonder if the powers that be are hoping he'll get bored and move on to something else so they won't have to deal with the fallout of firing him.

Ereshkigal · 17/02/2018 11:22

YY. Myunicorn. That pathology is very clear.

Myunicornfliessideways · 17/02/2018 11:21

That kind of lying is characteristic of specific pathology. Mental fitness to be in post should have been considered a long time ago if anyone with actual power in the Labour party had the faintest sense of responsibility

Ereshkigal · 17/02/2018 11:19

Its interesting that the reaction on this thread basically highlights why it is so important to address this attitude outside of *just the transgender community and raise awareness with women in general.

Good luck "addressing" it with anyone with a brain. They are male. Everyone sees this. And they are eroding women's rights.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/02/2018 11:18

His lying is oddly fascinating. You'd think someone that age would realize that nothing you put on the internet is ever really gone, nor can it be effectively hidden.

Ereshkigal · 17/02/2018 11:15

Madigan claimed they were not involved in the purge list in spite of the fact that giving trans identified males more of a voice and purging transphobic women is the only thing he ever talks about. I do not think anyone believes him.

He was a founder member and an admin of the secret Labour Against Transphobia FB group so he is lying. Screenshots exist to prove this.

Myunicornfliessideways · 17/02/2018 11:10

'Transwomen are women' - no, that's just a mantra based on 'repeat it long enough and it'll sound like it has meaning'. Take a look at George Orwell - 'war is peace', 'freedom is slavery', 'we have always been at war with Eurasia'. Its an intentional political tactic, and its not one used by political groups who believe in things like freedom of thought. If you blindly buy into it because it sounds nice you're supporting political ideology that's very questionable. Whether you genuinely support it in its full political meaning or have been nudged into going along with it in an attempt to be a good/nice person is down to you.

A definition that includes Danielle Muscato and me but excludes Jeremy Corbyn.... there's only ever one answer:

A woman is anyone who identifies themselves as a woman.

How can anyone identify as a woman if there is truly no better definition of a woman? If that was true, no one could possibly know what a woman was to be able to identify as it. It only works if we admit to the unspoken dishonesty here. That we all know exactly what a woman is. It's a biological adult female, and 'identifying' means a biological male who has chosen to frame himself as a female.

Nothing wrong with that. Transwomen are transwomen and should be celebrated as transwomen. But they're not women. And we all - them included - know they are not. It's about all of us finding the line between a desire to be kind and supportive, and unintentionally supporting a dishonesty that is harmful.

Terftastic · 17/02/2018 10:45

On a serious note - I think Lily Madigan's twitter account shows a very deep seated hatred of women - unless they're clucking about over him like protective mother hens, and validating him, that is.

It is quite clear from Madigan's own videos that Madigan hasn't the first idea on the reality of being born a woman, but has decided to put on "woman" himself - like a dress - after overhearing someone talking about transwomen in a library.

It is very disturbing that this person is Women's officer, and using this platform, not only to push a trans rights agenda, but to be against women. He wants to be "woman" - so he doesn't want us around - reminding him (by our very biological presence) that he's not.

He's a very troubled young man. I do actually feel sad for him (but then I remember Anne Ruzylo et al) Hmm Outside his circle of adoring Labour fans, he will not be accepted as a woman so readily. That's why TRAs have to shout and threaten so much - because they know it's not truth, and they know we know it's not truth.

picklemepopcorn · 17/02/2018 10:26

Sorry, wrong thread! Blush

picklemepopcorn · 17/02/2018 10:25

I think it would be helpful if fewer gender critical posters answered, so we can't be accused of ganging up on the people OP is trying to talk to. It can be offputting for people who disagree when we all talk at once.

BeyondTerfyCassandra · 17/02/2018 10:13

Thanks for the link, handy for finding GC women I don't yet follow on Twitter Grin

LangCleg · 17/02/2018 10:13

Transgender women ARE women.

They're not though. You know it. I know it. Everybody reading knows it.

Lily Madigan is an MRA TRA. Not welcome in my space. End of.

terryleather · 17/02/2018 10:12

Its interesting that the reaction on this thread basically highlights why it is so important to address this attitude outside of *just the transgender community and raise awareness with women in general.

Why no raising awareness with men?

Because they'd tell you to do one if they were expected to roll over for TIMs in the way women are.

Oh and most women here have had their awareness raised which is how they came to peak trans in the first place.

Transwomen are men.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 17/02/2018 10:11

I did one of those surveys once

I got a biscuit and £10

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 17/02/2018 10:11
Sad

Like a scientology meeting i ended up in once

AngryAttackKittens · 17/02/2018 10:09

Someone promised them cake and instead they got Lily.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 17/02/2018 10:07

The audience look like they were asked to take a quick survey and are now trapped

BitFuckedOffNow · 17/02/2018 10:05

[Transgender women ARE women.]

No, they are not. They have been socialised as men, and face none of the biological issues women face due to the biological sex they were born with, such as pregnancy, additional vulnerability due to physical size, menstruation... the list goes on. They're also far more prone to violence. (Unless you're actually talking about trans men, which is certainly possible since that line I've quoted is a bit ambiguous?)

[There is nothing wrong with a Transgender person running a group for women. There is nothing wrong with part of the alloted meeting addressing Transwomen issues.]

In theory, no, and I would have agreed absolutely with that statement a month or so back. But in practice, it's not working. NAMALT, obviously, but the men who aren't are generally the ones who are aware of the reasons women are at a disadvantage due their sex and so realise that pushing to be in charge of a group that's supposedly about women might be a bit iffy. They're aware and respectful of the fact that that issues that biological women face are often very different from the issues faced by men and trans women.

So the trans women who do push to be in charge (and the ones who tend to be more vocal) are very often the ones who have no problem talking over women, or shouting women down, or in demanding that the group shoult shift its priorities to be about trans issues (and funnily enough the trans issues that relate to trans women and not to trans men). Or that they should stop centreing meetings and marches on women's issues and biology, because that's trans-exclusionary.

Like a trans woman shouting Rose McGowan down when she was trying to talk about her experiences of sexual abuse because she hadn't done enough for transwomen. Or Monroe Bergdorf lecturing about centreing women's reproductive rights at a Women's March (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3145727-Monroe-Bergdorf-on-the-Women-s-March#prettyPhoto/0/) or Vonny Bravo being accused of transphobia on Twitter when she was talking about the rape of an eight-month old baby. Women get shouted down; their issues get silenced.

And to illustrate this, can you please point to one thing that Lily Madigan has done for biological women? Just one tweet that actually focuses on biological women?
