Great music by women

This may not be the right place or forum for this thread but just in case: I feel music is far too dominated by men. What great songs are there by women? I know most of my favourite songs are by women, I'd love to hear more.

Not had a chance to look at the old threads that have kindly been posted but I wanted to add a few names to the list: Ani DiFranco, Pj Harvey, Tori Amos, Carina Round, Kate Bush, Regina Specktor. If there was a film of my life these would feature heavily on the soundtrack.

Great list, Lass!

Thanks Amy, I'm looking forward to seeing new nominations and revisiting old, could do with some positivity in general world uncertainty!

Yonic, much appreciated, lots for me to work through!

Lass I shall really enjoy listening to many of those, thank you.

You both should investigate the "Wolf Alice" songs I posted...they might be more what my age group listen to but even my mum quite likes them (thanks to bombardment from me).

I am the advanced search ninja!

Though I think all the threads are 4-5 years old so we could do with some new picks!

IAmAmy · 14/11/2016 23:03

I think these songs are going to dominate my listening for quite some time! How wonderful Grin

Jo Mango is an amazing Scottish singer / song writer. I love 'My Lung'.

Regina Specktor's "Apres Moi"

Phoebe Kreutz 'Big Lousy Moon' album is all funny.

"Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap

Tori Amos - "Golddust"

Thank you Yonic!

Not at all - owing to sadly high numbers of withdrawn posts (thank you for nothing, F4J), the threads are a bit Swiss cheese and there's at least one more where I can't remember the OP:

I should have looked that up first!
