We have 50 copies of Alexandra Heminsley's Running Like a Girl up for grabs this week.

As Caitlin Moran says; "If you've ever wept "Why do I want to run?", your answer is here." Running Like a Girl is an honest, funny and inspiring memoir about Alex's own journey from being certain that she wasn't a runner at all, to completing five marathons.

If you're already a runner, you'll relate to Alex's triumphs and lows and affirmation that running is about so much more than losing weight. If you've ever thought about running but then failed to put on your trainers and get out there, this is the perfect book to offer you both inspiration and practical advice on everything from avoiding injury to buying the right bra.

Watch Alex talking about the book and if you fancy reading and reviewing, apply for a free copy. Once you've read it, join the discussion on this thread or post a review of Running Like A Girl.

Finally, Alexandra wrote a guest blog where she explained how running has transformed her relationship with her body, and helped her find reserves of determination she never knew she had.

I got my copy too, thanks very much.

Got back from a less than fantastic run and there it was on the doorstep.

Can't wait to get reading.

Blatherskite · 07/02/2014 14:44

That was fast. Got back from helping out at a marathon this morning to find it through my letterbox :)

HypodeemicNerdle · 07/02/2014 13:54

My copy arrived today! Very much looking forward to reading it. Did some running last year but I am struggling to motivate myself to get the trainers back on and get back out there. Very hopeful this will be the kick up the bum I need

This looks amazing - I am struggling with my running mojo at the moment so this would really help.

funnyperson · 02/02/2014 17:09

I would really like a copy please. Walking makes me puffed atm.

I've entered. I started couch to 5K on December 28th this year having never been able to run more than 60 secs and proclaiming confidently for years that "I can't run" (and I'm 41!). I'm now up to 33 minutes of running, which blows my mind! Best of all, I'm loving it and how it's making me feel about the rest of my life. I'm a teacher and I feel now that if I can teach all day, come home shattered and STILL get out in the dark and rain and run for half an hour then really, I can do anything!!!

CheeseStrawWars · 01/02/2014 12:03

I would love a copy of this book. I've been running intermittently for a couple of years but something always seems to happen and I stop and then have to start at the beginning of the Couch to 5K again.

TippyHaha · 01/02/2014 11:53

Oooh, what timing - I've just added this to my Amazon wishlist as I thought it would provide inspiration and tips for my 10km later this year. Have applied.

And good luck to all beginner runners!

Southeastdweller · 31/01/2014 08:22

Just got this from the library so marking my place Smile.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 30/01/2014 14:10

I have applied.

I listened to an interview she did for marathon talk which was great, very funny and touched a cord with me.

I do love a good running book.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 29/01/2014 13:08

I've got this on my Kindle and occasionally dip back into it for inspiration, it's a great book and one of the best-written personal memoirs about sport I've read in ages - Alexandra is a journalist first and a runner second.

Standingonlego · 28/01/2014 16:40

Have applied for a copy! Read "Running with the Kenyans" recently, will be an interesting comparison.

highlandcoo · 28/01/2014 15:51

Have applied. Have recently taken up running after avoiding it assiduously for over 30 years. Enjoying it more than I expected to but more motivation wouldn't go amiss!

IAmNotDarling · 27/01/2014 21:38

I need some motivation to get running.

I am fat. I've got big boobs. I need a cheap hobby.

Above all I need to make sure my toddler can't run away from me.

Blatherskite · 27/01/2014 18:54

Oooh, a friend was recommending this book to me just the other day! Have applied for a copy. Looking forward to this chat
