How old are the pregnant women that you know? And what baby are they on?

I'm 31. None of my friends have had kids or are close to trying, all the pregnant women I see around look much older than me. The only lady who i know is pregnant is a 43 year old member of hobby group who is having her second.

I know the average in my area is 31 but i don't see any younger mums about and am curious.

47! 😱

I only know a couple of pregnant women, but I work in a male dominated field so not many pregnancies there! Two I know are from my child’s school (Y1), one is 47 and it’s her second baby and the other is 45 (also second baby). Most of my school friends (child’s school) have stuck at one child and have no plans for anymore. One of my neighbours is pregnant with her first and I’d put her at around 45, but I’m terrible at aging people! I live in London and pregnancies in 40yr olds is much more common here. I don’t know anyone who was pregnant in their 20s.

All my uni friends aka educated people

😂

What's so funny? People who have been to University are educated.

47! 😱

A lady at my son’s school was 49 when she had hers! She had given up trying 😂

ThatLoudCat · 21/10/2026 20:06

I'm 23 and just had my second. Lots of people that I went to school with have also had babies. The only person I know who is currently pregnant is early thirties though.

None of my uni friends have had babies yet, most are aiming for pregnancies in their late 30s/early 40s. I wish them the best.

MadisonAvenue · 21/10/2026 20:13

Only one I know at the moment is 29.

A family member had her second child in the Summer, she was also 29.

mondaytosunday · 21/10/2026 20:17

All my current friends had kids at 40 or older. Only know two who also had children in late 20s. Most had their other children late 30s. I had both mine in my 40s. Al our kids are in their 20s now and nine are anywhere near being in serious relationships.

HopAroundLikeKangaroos · 21/10/2026 20:21

I’m 37 and my close friends range from 35 - 41. 3 pregnant friends currently who are all also 37 coincidentally. 2 with their first: one who wasn’t going to have DC and changed her mind when she met the right guy and one who has been trying for years and years. The last friend is having baby number 4 (!). I have one more close friend who may have a baby in the next few years, but I think my friends and I are largely done. I don’t think anyone will be having babies beyond their late 30s.

Frazzled89 · 21/10/2026 20:22

I'm 35 and pregnant with my 4th. Had my first just before turning 28. One of my friends had her 5th baby recently also at 35. DH works with a lot of women who are due around the same time as me, most with their second and they around the early to mid 30s.

All my uni friends aka educated people had kids 32-38
Others I know (3 GCSE passes between them) had kids oldest 22 year old, and even then this uneducated bunch viewed her as over the hill

You sound lovely

UltimateSloth · 21/10/2026 20:25

28 first child.
36 second child (with a 5 year gap)

HopAroundLikeKangaroos · 21/10/2026 20:29

I had DC1 at 31 and I was the second youngest in my NCT group which surprised me a bit. Youngest was way younger than me (26) but she’s still to this day the only person I am friends with who has had a baby in her 20s. I would guess a few school mums I know to say hello to had the DC in their 20s, but I’d say there are more that had their first child at 35 plus than <30.

Detailedakoda · 21/10/2026 20:30

The only woman I know who is pregnant at the moment is 42, second child. This isn’t unusual at my DD school.

princesspeppax · 21/10/2026 20:31

I’m 30. Pregnant with number 4. Most my circle were mid 20s with first but every baby group i’ve attended has always been mixed ages

Freshrain · 21/10/2026 20:33

Counting the 2 who have just had their babies, and then the people I know who are pregnant
32
24
26
28
29
22 (this little one wasn't planned)

All of this are first pregnancies.

27 (this is her 3rd)
29 (this is her 2nd)

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 21/10/2026 20:34

1 who is 31 and it’s her 4th

3 who are 32 having their first

1 who is 29 having first

and 1 who is 34 having her second

DewDropsAndCobWebs · 21/10/2026 20:35

27- on her third
28- her first
36- her second

ConfessionsOfAMumDramaQueen · 21/10/2026 20:36

Its very dependent on local demographics. The people I went to school with? One of them was pregnant with her third while I was sitting my A levels. Most had 2 before the age of 25.

The people I went to university with? I was the first at 30. First baby born just shy of 31, second at just turned 34. Most of my uni friends were having their first when I had my second.

DH grew up in a more affluent area. He was the first to have a child by some margin. A couple had them around the time of our second, most still hadn't had any children at 40.

ProtestantTraybakeQueen · 21/10/2026 20:37

2 of my oldest friends, both 36, pregnant with their first. Both took a long time to find a partner.

Friends I know who’ve had babies in the last year or so: 30, 40, 41, 42, 33.

None of those had trouble finding a partner, but those 5 include IVF, multiple miscarriages, and a stillbirth - that I know of! Always much more behind the scenes. Some just enjoyed being with their partners for years, getting married, house-buying before having kids.

I had my first at 25 and last (of 3) at 32.

Pros and cons to all, one con for younger being that no one else your age has kids! The mums at the local baby groups (all 35+ when I was 10 years younger) looked at me like dirt on their shoe! Now that youngest has started school, all her school pals are first-born and their parents are all our age and it’s so social!! Vast difference to our experience being the youngest parents in the class.

1990thatsme · 21/10/2026 20:39

I had my first at 26 and have four now. I have a Cambridge degree. Most of my friends had children late twenties or early thirties.

Ladybird111 · 21/10/2026 20:44

Pregnant with my third (and last) at 35

Returnn · 21/10/2026 20:46

I’m pregnant right now, 25, my third child.

Was pregnant at 15/16 and 23/24 with my others

Shinyhappyapple · 21/10/2026 20:47

Im not sure this means a lot, but the women I know of who are pregnant at the moment or who have recently given birth are late 20s/early 30s and are either the daughters of friends or the partners of friends’ sons.
