How old are the pregnant women that you know? And what baby are they on?

I'm 31. None of my friends have had kids or are close to trying, all the pregnant women I see around look much older than me. The only lady who i know is pregnant is a 43 year old member of hobby group who is having her second.

I know the average in my area is 31 but i don't see any younger mums about and am curious.

  1. Friend. Third baby. Fuck knows why. Seems to barely cope with life as it is.
Hotafternoon · Yesterday 11:36

Family member, 29, first baby.

momager22 · Yesterday 10:58

I’m 43 and the only pregnant woman I know at the moment is a family member aged 44. She is in a same sex marriage and they’ve been trying a good few years.
Another friend is 39 (second child)

I don’t know any younger people who are pregnant although my friends are mainly older.

MissyPants · Yesterday 10:46

I was 36 when I had my first and 40 when I had my second, I'm not having anymore now though.

That's interesting. I've not been offered any of that. Unless it comes down to the particular NHS Trust.

It depends on your trust. In my trust, advanced maternal age is now over 40+ vs over 35.

HappyViewer · 22/10/2026 23:15

21-35, I’ve only known 2 women to have babies in their early 40’s (both times it was their 4th DC).

Not me. A friend. She has appts with a consultant and extra scans. She said it was age related because she is classed as a geriatric pregnancy. If there's more to it than that, she didn't disclose.

I'm 35 and pregnant with my 4th and I don't think I'm consultant led. What are they doing extra for you? I'm down as low risk according to the midwife.

Over 35. Second pregnancy. Under consultant led care due to being a geriatric pregnancy.

40,42 and 42

Musicaltheatremum · 22/10/2026 14:50

My daughter is 33. 7 of her old school friends are pregnant just now. Really hard as she miscarried last march and one after the other of her friends announced their pregnancies over the next couple of months as well as a couple who were already pregnant.They started being born in July.
These are her really best friends (all 33 going on 34)so it's really strange but she's 5+ weeks pregnant again so fingers crossed.

T1MumOf1 · 21/10/2026 22:20

Over 35 meanwhile Im 35 with two teens! Couldn't imagine dealing with nappies and screaming toddlers now. Nightmare.

Anxioustealady · 21/10/2026 22:18

I know 2, ones early 30s the other early 40s, both their second children

I was early 30s for my first. At my job I feel like a younger mom but at a baby class I was the oldest, so it totally varies. I feel a bit like everyone either had them very young or 40+ and I'm in no mans land.

I'm quite educated but always wanted to be a mom, but I wanted to be married and have a house first.

yep - 27 here! And I’m not from a ‘less affluent’ area…. I was pregnant at 26 and kept getting waves of ‘do people think I’m a teenage pregnancy’ because I look so young but actually me and my husband are quite happy that our son will be 13 when we turn 40 :)

I am 40 and had my son at 26 too! I remember thinking this when he was little and it’s turned out great. It’s gone so so so fast though! Enjoy the little years, before you know it he’ll be taller than you!

Twoshoesnewshoes · 21/10/2026 22:11

I know two
27 and 29
both on second baby

SallyAnnDrivesACar · 21/10/2026 22:04

X2 = 24
X1 = 25
X1= 29
X1= 35

All first children. One is still pregnant and all the others have very young babies.

In London.

So true! My eldest will be 25 when I turn 50, makes me feel young!

Gothwife · 21/10/2026 21:32

I’m 43 with a 12 and 9 year old. Most of my friends have kids from 16-6. Two women I went to school with have both just had their first at 42. I’m being kicked by frozen shoulder and perimenopause, can’t imagine throwing a newborn or toddler into that mix.

28 to 33 years old is the typical age of a first time mum where I come from (middle class village and small middle class market town 4 miles away.)

Some posters will say everyone they know had their first at 45 though, so be prepared for that!

It's not that weird to have babies in your 20s. Women still do. Much more common than early to mid 40s.

Shinyhappyapple · 21/10/2026 20:47

Im not sure this means a lot, but the women I know of who are pregnant at the moment or who have recently given birth are late 20s/early 30s and are either the daughters of friends or the partners of friends’ sons.

Returnn · 21/10/2026 20:46

I’m pregnant right now, 25, my third child.

Was pregnant at 15/16 and 23/24 with my others

Ladybird111 · 21/10/2026 20:44

Pregnant with my third (and last) at 35

1990thatsme · 21/10/2026 20:39

I had my first at 26 and have four now. I have a Cambridge degree. Most of my friends had children late twenties or early thirties.
