You pretty much said outside London and major urban area people are automtaically racists - I assumed becuase you think non-white faces are unknown to us because we just do not encounter them because we can not travel persuably or watch any media.

Then point to Portmouth - a sad fucking incident all round - but one that happens in a city an urban area the second most densely populated local authority area in the UK after London.

I don't believe I said rural Britain does not have cars, trains, planes or automobiles.

I feel it, I am nearly 50 and large numbers of HMOs housing refugees across from my granddaughters school, one was seen by some parents with his hand down his shorts across the road from the school causing protests about them being housed overlooking the school gates.
I was walking my Granddaughter back home one evening last week and 3 young men were sitting on a bench and they stared at my 10 year old granddaughter and as we passed them they spat at her.

She only lives 5 minutes away from her school and last year she would walk home by herself but now my daughter will collect her or I will pick her up as it’s just too dangerous.

Unfortunately the teens on bikes with balaclavas is becoming an issue, not just in the U.K. too. Most aren’t even on illegal bikes, just push bikes and very few are doing anything illegal but their presence is intimidating. The police rounded up several here yesterday (leafy fairly affluent town) they weren’t actually from here though, they lived in the nearby city, and apart from a couple of e scooters they didn’t have any things to charge them with because hanging out in a balaclava dressed in black isn’t an offence

That's what I was thinking.

I grew up in a rural village there were a few ethic minorities I grew up with decades ago and they were just part of who we grew up with but hitting secondary in town about half the school was second and third generation asian - and quite few mix race and other ethnicties.

There are fewer ethic minorties in rural britain - partly as there's little work to move to but rural britain have access to cars, trains, planes and TV and internet - we are not completely cut off from the world outside of London.

Here there was an issue with a romanian gang and beggers pre covid - but since then it's mostly native born groups at leasts going by accents - that seem to cause most issues and often drug and alcohol related and petty crimes and assults are up in shopping area and police are reponding with more visible police.

I've no idea what OP area is like and if it's a perception or actual issue in her case or case of more people being more aggressive - which we saw post covid here but has died down pretty much completely now.

Oh, I have. But since the Pakistani under- 19 cricket team was mobbed at Portsmouth by mouthbreathing morons, I might be warier. Or tell my son to be wary anyway.

I have noticed more middle aged white men driving like bellends in my leafy suburban area. Frequently on the side of the road you see them fighting each other.

Seems to increase every year, along with pictures of them in the local paper with their pasty faces being arrested for GBH, SA and drug dealing usually.

Men are acting increasingly unhinged where I live. Hundreds of them from all over the country all put on balaclavas and black outfits and protested not too far away, parking blocking lanes and being very thuggish, which made the national news. Scary times indeed.

The phone thing is normal, I have seen many people have it snatched out of their hands over the years.

On the 3rd one, Ive has similar. Not references to being a refuge but some men get angry if they think you acted as though you consider them a threat.

So if I've crossed the street when there's a man walking towards me they've shouted at me for it and said 'did you think I was going to take you or something', similar comments when I turned into an alley and there were 3 men stoop there smoking and I turned back.

The situations you describe would have concerned me too. In general I don't feel less safe though.

I expect my tall brown son-often dressed im a hoodie- will have trouble moving out of London or a major city. Anywhere else, he might be a dangerous migrant, especially as many of his friends are either black or brown. He also speaks two foreign languages. More fool him!

But that you specifically said you didn’t know if the men were migrants. You seemed to find their blackness intimidating, not their origins, ability to speak English, legal status etc, about which you said you knew nothing, even if you’ve subsequently changed your tune.

How do you know they are not war refugees? So war refugees come with a sticker on their head ?

Is it racist to object to the inflow of foreign young men who have arrived illegally. Don't speak our language and lets be honest are here for the benefits.
They are not war refugees.
Genuine refugees fleeing war and grateful to be somewhere safe I fully support.

You stated young black men are intimidating. You didn’t say young men but young black men. You clearly don’t have an issue with young white men hanging around the streets

Using your phone while walking about, I would have thought you were in more danger from walking into lamp posts or getting hit by traffic than random men.

I think we are just more aware of the dangers so this makes us extra cautious
