ICP

My 1st at 37w 3d.
I followed Lancet sudies evidence and carried on with pregnancy went into spontaneous labour at 39w 4d. Healthy and fine.
2md baby nothing i mean 0 until 41w. They even did a check at 39 weeks all was healthy. Itching started at 41w to the day!! First blood test was low at 10 but that jumped up to 105 3 days later. I knew anyway it was bad as the itching was equally bad. I was induced at 42w as the levels are above 90 the chance of still birth is 3% up from a normal healthy pregnancy of 0.13%.

I have Gilbert's syndrome in my family my siblings, Mother, Maternal grandmother and grandfather all have it. No one ever had ICP. I am the first. I have had live scans in the past no stones. But since ICP with 1st baby I now have stones. It has been linked to prgestrone pill. Which I took 6 months prior to conception of first. I think for me it was a combo of familia genetics and the Progestrone only pill and lack of Vit D I was deficient all my life.

Insane itching was the initial symptom, especially hands and feet. It generally started in the evenings and lasted until mid morning. I did get udca on prescription and that helped

I went on to develop really severe fatigue and unfortunately I'm still struggling with this a year on and am now under Endocrinology to work out what is going on as I'm a bit of a mystery

I had ICP in the pregnancy with my son.
My ALTs kept raising and ended up over 700. My bile acids bounced around between 20 and 90.
I was brought in for induction in the end at 36+6.
I also developed severe fatigue and was hospitalised at 35 weeks and started with signs of HELLP at 36.

I had a liver scan, although by the time this came through baby had arrived. It was when my bile acids dropped by my ALTs were raised that they wanted to check my liver and gallbladder as this would be another cause of raised ALTs. I also have a strong family history of gallstones - my sister had hers removed at 19 having developed acute pancreatitis and my mum's gallstones were picked up through her liver function going squiffy.

I had regular blood tests, if my levels were stable they did repeats every 7-14 days. If they came back higher than last time they did a repeat 3 days later.

If I had my bloods done in triage they popped me on the monitor to check baby but if it was done by my midwife at the GP they just didn't.
