I'll try not to drip feed whilst keeping it annon.
3 kids - 18, 16, 16. Married 20+ years. Age gap relationship (47 me and 59 him).
Mortgage until he is 67 (approx £1.5k a month but up for renewal in next 6 months). Approx £750k equity. Owe approx £200k.
I'm part-time in stressful public sector job. Earn circa £35k. He's was higher earner. Walked away with 6 months pay. He took 6 months to get a job (little-no money left). Took a temp contract now ended. Getting a new job is not easy, as you know. I'm currently the only one bringing any money in and it literally covers the mortgage, council tax and gas/electric.
I have a poor pension as I stayed home to raise the kids. He can take his pension. If he takes it now, he could take £100k+ tax free lump sum plus approx £25k a year. If he waits til 65, it'll be approx £35k a year. If he dies, me and the kids get 1/3.
I am beyond stressed, overwhelmed and cannot see the best option for the life of me. I have high functioning ADHD, am perimenopausal and have 3 teenagers who all seem a little lost. I am a chronic overthinker and catastrophiser. I literally cannot see how this could best play out.
Please don't be harsh. I know we are lucky to at least have some options and security. I cannot help how my brain works. I can't see the wood for the trees.
