DH didn't take a physical card to France, as he uses contactless on his phone, however, the petrol stations there only take physical cards.
I have a Lloyds and Revolut accounts. I only use Revolut to have money for holidays (and at home sometimes). I am used to just clicking the 'add money' button, and it automatically working, but that function seemed to disappear after they became a UK bank (causing me to inadvertently trigger a fraud safeguard by Lloyds when it came in).
It worked fine for the first week, by using instant bank transfer.
Then last Monday DH was at the pump filling up, he asked to use my card. Unfortunately I didn't have enough for the pre-authorisation amount. So he was pressuring me, I was panicking and I assumed it was set up for instant bank transfer. I transferred one largish amount - not enough - so I added a second, larger amount. It worked, the money updated and it took money from my original balance, NOT from the added amounts. DH paid me back, I was glad I had plenty to last the holiday and for at home too.
The next morning I noticed that the two large amounts I had deposited the day before were marked by a minus, and stated "OBA return to sender (and my name)". I checked Lloyds, that just showed the money had CLEARED and been debited from Lloyds.
Google AI said it could take 3-5 business days to return, so as we were away, I just kept an eye on it.
I received an email from Revolut on Thursday (I will attach the screenshot, hopefully it will appear soon), saying there was a problem with their handler, but the money had been returned.
I was unable to access the internet yesterday, due to travelling home.
Today I checked my Lloyds and there was no money there. I contacted Revolut, who said they could see the transfer had been sent back, but as today was the fifth business day, it would appear today, if not I could go back to them tomorrow.
I really do not understand it, it has never taken this long for a refund from a retailer, let alone a transfer that was rejected.
I know how silly this sounds, but I am really concerned where the money went to. After the Booking.com debacle, I do not trust institutions right now. The money is NOT in my account as of now, so it is 8 days since I transferred it and 7 since it was returned to my Lloyds account.
I may be being impatient, the most nightmare property imaginable (mould everywhere, lights hanging by their wires, filth everywhere, opened food and bags of unopened shopping, shower at the back of the yard, the only one to sleep unclothed - on top of our own towels on the top of the bedding - covered in bites after one night - we fled ASAP), then the refusal of Booking.com to even address the issues, it was challenging, and I suffer from bipolar and crippling anxiety.
Is my money gone?
