Pancreatitis after injection

I have just got out of hospital after suffering with a blocked bile duct and severe pancreatitis.
I have been on mounjaro on and off for two years and did not realize there was a link.

it may have happened anyway but I lost 3 stone on the injection and it seems coincidental.

Just wondered if anyone has suffered from it and how long it takes to feel more energetic? I am on a low fat diet and will be having my gall bladder out next week.

We were talking about it at SW. One of the lasses is a nurse and said they are regularly seeing the link and wouldn't go on jabs.

Thats interesting? I did not realize how dangerous pancreatitis is. I think maybe it needs to be more well known.

Theres a lot more MJ can do than pancreatitis, it’s pretty common side effect!

My dh work colleagues mum died of this and she got it after starting weight loss injections but I do not know what brand. Its sad.

Yes it is a side effect, I think it’s about 1% of users could suffer from it, so a low % but a known side effect.
When I googled side effects when a family member was thinking about going on them it was definitely mentioned

The risk of pancreatitis is written in every leaflet that accompanies the Mounjaro injection pen and every single online pharmacy will warn people about the risks before prescribing. It is still a rare side effect and I’m sorry that you’re suffering with it.

The people who are already at high risk of getting pancreatitis and gall bladder issues are also the sort of people who are likely to choose to use weight loss injections. It’s very hard to disentangle who would have got it anyway.

To be fair, any rapid weight loss can trigger the same. One of my DC lost 10kg in about 5 months on Slimming World, following all the rules, not skipping meals, using all her points, etc., and even having one day off per week and a complete break for a holiday. She was admitted to hospital a few months later with gallstones and deranged liver function and is on the waiting list for surgical opinion regarding removal.

It’s gallstones blocking the bile duct that trigger pancreatitis — not the weight‑loss injections themselves. Any form of rapid weight loss can lead to gallstone formation, and that’s what increases the risk, regardless of the method used. I've been there myself, fully recovered 18 months later.

You need to be living in a hole to not know that pancreatitis is a known risk of mounjaro use (and any kind of rapid weightloss, could happen on SW). Did you not research at all?

Took me five or six weeks to get back to normal after pancreatitits.

I had pancreatitis years ago following Gallstones. However, it nearly killed me and I now have chronic pancreatitis.
I asks the GP about having the jabs as I’m overweight and pre diabetic. Was told under no circumstances am I allowed it.
pancreatitis is a very well known side effect and can be very dangerous
