It was horrible, it took me a long time to get over it (or rather, push it all deep down and try to never ever think about it) but I've been largely ok for a long time.
But for the last few months I can't stop thinking about it. The guilt and shame never really went away (and I felt I deserved it so I never did anything about it) but they are giving me an extra hard kicking at the moment. I was 10 weeks and I keep thinking about what that looks like.
I always used to think I didn't regret the decision, it was the right one, I just deeply regretted getting myself into that situation (I was 18, stupid, and took some risks with my boyfriend so it was my own fault). But I now keep thinking I want my baby back (god, I'm crying now). I know this sounds insane 30 years later.
Could this be my age, coming into menopause maybe my body knows no more babies and it's making me think about it? Is this something threapy could help with or has it been too long? Any words of wisdom or experience would be gratefully received, because I feel fucking terrible.
Just to add, I know lots of women have abortions and don't experience any of this and are fully comfortable with their decisions. I am and have always been pro-choice and absolutely wouldn't judge anyone in the way I seem to be judging myself.
