She won’t listen to any comms team. That was Meghan all over.

There is no 'comms team'.

readbutdonotpostoften · 24/10/2026 13:00

Everything as clear as mud. MET letter concerning "security" of DOS, is it a different letter?

Security mentioned - this will be used to an advantage.

Does anyone come out of this with their reputations intact?

Passingthroughagain · 24/10/2026 13:00

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 12:58

Did a letter arrive in 2018 and it got to Meg ….and then it was forwarded back to the Met?

Not according to the Met. They said it was "sent to the MPS Protection Command to raise concerns in relation to the security of the Duchess of Sussex. The letter was reviewed and a decision was made that it should be passed to the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their awareness. The details of the allegations in the letter were not shared with other law enforcement agencies."

So now we know she did definitely get a copy - but not in 2018 like she claimed, and not in August 2018 like her team were telling Page Six yesterday. But we also know she was never told it was being investigated, if it was passed to her just for her awareness.

TiredCatLady · 24/10/2026 13:00

So, I’m a bit lost. Is she saying she knew about some utterly horrific allegations and did… nothing?

Orvillee · 24/10/2026 13:01

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/10/2026 12:44

She didn’t notify the authorities, didn’t follow up, didn’t reveal the truth

Everyone keeps saying this, @Atlusvue, but if it comes to it she'll almost certainly insist she tried but was stopped by the palace / those she reported it to ignored it / her communications were "lost"

But the authorities notified her, why should she follow up and there was no ‘truth’ to reveal.

These were allegations which may or may not be true - it would be hideously irresponsible to make the contents public as it would compromise any investigation, any subsequent trial and fail any victims.

If there was no investigation that’s on law enforcement - or there was no evidence to proceed at the time then MM couldn’t speak out.

The rupture with her father had already happened for reasons ‘good enough’ for her at the time and before this letter arrived. IMHO that would just be the icing on the cake for zero reconciliation whether the allegations were followed up, proven or unproven.

She was justified in keeping NC with her Dad if these allegations were still hanging in the air proven or unproven.

I think her miss-step here has been As Ever her communication approach. Her message has been self serving around her image and not around the victims. Less is more. If she had solely expressed sympathy and not hijacked this as a reputation management and commercial opportunity the perception of her dignity and integrity would have authentically grown.

She is taking miss-step after miss step. Did she now need to reveal the letter from 2018, did she need to put herself in the centre of it, did she need to share this letter (potentially criminal evidence) with the media. Is it all now distracting from the current stash of evidence found recently.

bluegreygreen · 24/10/2026 13:01

Metropolitan Police statement: they received a letter in January 2019, related to security for the Sussexes. They did not pass the information on to other forces, and are considering referring themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Sky News link

Following a thorough review of Met Police systems and records, we have confirmed that in January 2019, we received a letter containing a number of claims about alleged offending outside the United Kingdom. It was sent to the MPS Protection Command to raise concerns in relation to the security of the Duchess of Sussex.

The letter was reviewed and a decision was made that it should be passed to the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their awareness. The details of the allegations in the letter were not shared with other law enforcement agencies.

The MPS is reviewing the handling of this matter in 2019 and considering whether a referral to the IOPC is necessary to review our approach.

Orvillee · 24/10/2026 12:38

What doesn’t make sense to me is to now share a letter (important evidence surely) publicly with media - when the approach (which I 100% agreed with) has been for the last 8 years to allow the appropriate authorities to do their investigations.

She’s inadvertently covering herself in shit here and throwing the victims under the bus.

She could compromise any further investigation by her directly contributing to a trial by media.

It’s becoming more confusing as the day goes by. First we were told she received the letter in 2018 and now the MET are saying January 2019. Which one is it?

And the poor victims, if these allegations are true, they’re now being abused a second time by Meghan and her low life super fans who are using them to rewrite history.

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 13:04

Meghan had a moral duty to pass on the allegations herself to the relevant authorities.

Im not sure if there is a duty for the UK police to pass on such information ( I would bloody hope so!)

That neither of them thought that this needs to be actioned?

No, I am afraid this won’t wash. Even if she only knew about the letter in 2019, Oprah was in 2021, Netflix 2022/3 and Spare 2023/4. In all these vehicles, they blamed MM marrying into the RF for the estrangement. When this was patently never the case.

Starryfifty · 24/10/2026 13:06

I'm very suspicious as I'm hearing "security concerns " all over the place. Give it a few hours and HAM will be bleating about RAVEC again

Rhaidimiddim · 24/10/2026 13:08

"The letter was reviewed and a decision was made that it should be passed to the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their awareness."

So H knew about this when he was alleging that the breakdown of MM's relationship with her dad was because of the press. (Unless no-one told him.)

HoldMyWine · 24/10/2026 13:08

Sorry if already posted, trying to catch up. The Met are saying they received a letter in 2019. The timeline doesn’t make any sense.
Met Police confirms it received letter over Meghan’s father Thomas Markle

I imagine Royal correspondents are having a very busy Saturday !
Has Caroline Graham (?) said anything ? She is great pals with TMsnr .

Starryfifty · 24/10/2026 13:11

Harry oddly quiet. Probably for the best as no doubt, he'll say something utterly ludicrous

Marmaladelover · 24/10/2026 13:11

So it seems that the reason the letter was written (by a member of the Markle family ) was to justify boosting security to round the clock rather than just when doing royal duties.

The security presumably didn’t think it justified additional security other than alerting MM (and PH ?) about the allegations so they could taken personal action . Though she of course already knew about the threat .

Where have we seen this happen before?

Seems to me MM knew the letter was being written several months before it was sent .

So the raison d’etre was the old story of security and not a thought for the child victims .

readbutdonotpostoften · 24/10/2026 13:12

The different dates and the content of the letter being reported by the MET, does raise the question the MET have found a letter but it is not the letter previously mentioned with the allegations against Thomas Markle - or am I becoming even more confused!

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 13:12

Also if this info was passed to the Duke and Duchess’s office and wasn’t just Meg informed…..then it’s not just Meg that didn’t do anything about it, it’s was Harry that never did anything either.

Why didn’t they release a joint statement about this?

No I agree.

  • Its different departments
  • Different date
  • They say they informed the office of the Duke and Duchess while Meg in her statement points out that ‘she’ was informed….why not say we or our office?
BemusedAmerican · 24/10/2026 13:16

So the office of Prince Harry and Meghan got this letter, which they then clearly passed onto Meghan since she had a copy. What happened next? What instructions were their Office given by Harry and Meghan? No one thought to call the FBI 1-800 number or shoot them an email? My impression is that the employees in that Office didn't have much agency.

Perhaps that Office should have spent a little less time on wardrobe issues.

Where are you getting this from? She had round the clock security from the time of her marriage, if not before.

SiegfriedSassoon · 24/10/2026 13:18

It's all unspeakably grim. The British public have every right to feel disgusted that they've come scrabbling back into Britain before this hit. They are like unwanted guests barging into your home with dog cr*p all over their shoes.

Their employees at KP were too busy weeping at their desks over the constant media handling demands from H&M, according to Spare. Oh, and being asked to sort out MM’s mental health issues.

I’m waiting for a clapback statement blaming QEII.

No. The Met look terrible (again) for receiving allegations of CSA and not passing those on to the countries who would have jurisdiction to investigate. Almost as if they don't really care about this happening 🤔

The Sussexes look confused, at the very least, about when all this happened, and also decidedly strange in the insistence that someone had told them it was being investigated, and then them seemingly being satisfied with that even though they didn't hear any more in the 8 years since 🤔

Boudy · 24/10/2026 13:21

I am glad the MET are referring themselves( yet again) They can be rather cagey regarding the truth too,as we know.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/10/2026 13:21

Alisonsy · 24/10/2026 11:22

There is no way that she was allowed to make a copy of this “letter”.

I think this letter doesn’t exist or was fabricated. Sounds like Thomas Jr and MM are conspiring against their father.

Someone's probably mentioned this already, but the BBC report that the police have indeed confirmed receipt of the letter - only in 2019

So Meghan claiming that she saw it in 2018 sounds like (yet another) inconsistency
