I still think this could be a PR win or her. It vindicates her utterly in her choice to have nothing to do with her father and not allow him to meet her DC, something that she has been widely criticised for over the years.

That statement that she put out, I bet she's been sitting on it - or a version of it - for years. She must've known that the story was likely to come out at some point and she's been waiting for that day since 2018. Knowing how she loves to clap back to any story that she feels is untrue or unfair, it must've just about killed her this past 8 years to not be able to say anything and to just have to wait patiently until the day she got to have her say.

Having said that, the journos have been busy this past 24 hours. The DM has two articles now - one is Amanda Platell asking 'Is this the point where we should all feel sorry for Meghan?' and the other asking 'Why did Meghan describe herself as a Daddy's Girl in the Netflix doc in 2022'. There is going to be a lot of digging and creating of timelines and looking up what she said and when.

I think the door has closed for any RF ham reconciliation.

It’s a shit show. Meghan making claims. TMJr getting photos taken next to the ‘evidence’ like a game hunter.

The Sun and TMJr’s expert all over the evidence before the authorities. That’s never going to end up in court, their actions have made the evidence inadmissible.

Compare and contrast to the measures way that William handled the illegal phone hacking, which resulted in successful prosecutions and the Leveson enquiry

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 24/10/2026 08:56

I'm putting a strictly metaphorical bet on the DM having done a lot of digging and just waiting to release it.

"She’s definitely winning the PR campaign at the moment."

I think it just shows that she had a valid reason for cutting her dad off, although why she played it out in the press is beyond me.

Everything else that she & H have done are their choices & unconnected to her dad & what she knew when imo.

She cut him off before the letter, before she knew.
She cut him off before the letter.

Why does this matter?

Because she is using CSA as a PR tactic.

I’m sorry it absolutely will not be a PR win.

  • she maintained in public for 8 years about press collusion being the reason she cut off her father, protecting his reputation
  • She didn’t notify the authorities, didn’t follow up, didn’t reveal the truth

If info comes out that Markle Snr committed more crimes in this time period………

mysoddenbananabread · 24/10/2026 09:01

@cheezncrackers there cannot be a positive outcome for her on this . She claims she knew, she watched as life carried on for her father 🤷‍♀️ . I mean moving to the Philippines would have been a very obvious sign. Obviously she wouldn't have wanted her father outed for a variety of reasons but to continue to go on about young people on the internet etc whilst harbouring this secret. This is all of course a big IF.

cheezncrackers · 24/10/2026 09:04

But she is saying that the Met police told her they would investigate. How is it her fault that they didn't and that they seemingly didn't share this (AFAIK) single unsubstantiated claim in a letter with the US and Mexican authorities? I don't see how that is her fault or her responsibility? Again, I'm a huge critic of Meghan generally, but in this instance I can't see that she did anything wrong.

The Met police actually told her they would investigate? A US citizen who's never been to the UK and whose alleged crimes were never committed here?.

Why on earth would anyone believe that the UK would investigate an American citizen who allegedly committed a crime in another country?!!?!?

If you lived in France and received a letter that a UK citizen committed a crime in the UK, why would you believe the French Authorities would investigate this?

Other countries have no jurisdiction to investigate another’s crimes!

I think it's a PR disaster for them. The Sun is widely regarded as the lowest of tabloids, the most seedy, tawdry, grubby, sordid, low-rent rag. For them to be so obviously making an alliance with them just cheapens and tarnishes their image more than ever. They've fallen so far. Royal glitter? They couldnt be further than that now, they are giving more Katie Price & Peter Andre vibes. Meghan may garner some sympathy but only the sort of rubber-necking, lost-all-dignity, disaster-zone sympathy like with the "I found out my lover was really my dad" people you see in take a break magazine. They've become a cheap soap opera that people will watch for entertainment. This has changed everything for them IMO.

Harry has spent large quantities of time in court railing against invasion of privacy and newspapers 🤷‍♀️. It's so bizarre but then this is Meghan and I think she is on a very different path from him.

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 09:12

This is going to get messy. She alleging something that is completely impossible- that the UK could conduct a legal investigation.

She makes out that’s why she couldn’t say anything.
There was no investigation and there could never have been such an investigation. So who tied her hands???

Pagesix:

‘It was, however, made firmly clear to Page Six Friday that Markle’s hands had been tied, as she didn’t have firm proof of the allegations and to make public allegations could have jeopardized an investigation or opened her up to litigation.’

Meg didn’t need firm proof to alert the authorities and she didn’t need firm proof to state that she received a a letter with disturbing allegations

Pagesix:

’She could have said eight years ago that some troubling accusations have come to light, I will help whatever way I can,” a source added.’

cheezncrackers · 24/10/2026 09:15

The point is that the letter was sent to the Met Police, who shared it with Meghan. Therefore, it was their responsibility to share with it the US and Mexican authorities, not hers. If the letter had been sent to her, then yes, she should've taken it to the police and received their reassurance that they would pass it on to the correct authorities to investigate.

And I agree that they would not investigate claims made about a US citizen who (AFAIK) has never even set foot in the UK.

As for the PR win/lose angle - most people aren't going to be as invested as the posters on this long-running thread. I suspect most people will think 'Bloody hell, poor Meghan! This totally vindicates her decision to cut off contact with her father' and leave it at that.

My feed is dominated with news about the Storm snd now a second storm (good fhe media love to whip up frenzy about the weatber), Labour wanting to give HMRC more powers to t!ke money straight from people's bank accounts and traitors show. So plenty of other news is getting highlighted more than Williams stint on Graham Norton.

Tell me you don't know anything about social media algorithms 😂

RF are being briefed about this, for sure.

Nope. People have more enquiring minds than you suggest especially when someone - Meghan - is so outspoken about others. It won't be " leave it at that " .

"She’s definitely winning the PR campaign at the moment."

I doubt it. Most people don't pay that much attention and are more likely to subconsciously associate her with chaos and drama and this would just strike them as more of that.

Yes, and also far more people in the UK (and the US and worldwide) read the Mail than the Sun. The Sun is still loathed in Liverpool and beyond after Hillsborough and people like Andy Burnham are well aware of its divisiveness.

This is a current lead story in the MailOnline:

Why did Meghan tell Netflix: 'I've been a Daddy's Girl my whole life' four years after Met received a letter making such disturbing allegations?

https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-16234473/Meghan-Netflix-Daddys-Girl-Met-letter-allegations.html

The Mail is now picking through all the contradictions and hypocrisies. I think the HaM PR is amateurish and clumsy, coming across as offensive, and in danger of making Meghan - the woman who took the piss out of Queen Elizabeth - look as bad as the rest of the Markles.

This is very bad for Meghan.

And where’s Harry?

Why did Meghan say 'I'm a Daddy's Girl' four years after Met letter?

Before their relationship irredeemably soured, the Duchess of Sussex was apt to speak of her father with deep affection. As we were often reminded, she was the apple of his eye.

Dontevenlookatme · 24/10/2026 09:20

I don’t see how this can be a win for her. It tarnishes her brand enormously. She’s gone in the direction of high end aspirational products, there’s nothing aspirational about coming from the family she does.

She may garner some sympathy from people who are already on the fence but it isn’t going to wash with those who are already sceptical about her relationship with the truth.

I don’t know whether any of the allegations will stick to TM but MM is stuck with them now. What a mess.

Ponoka7 · 24/10/2026 09:21

They are also calling child abuse images, child porn, they are just about selling more copies.
The MET have opened an seperate investigation. If it was (and it should have been) an ongoing criminal investigation, then Meghan couldn't have gone public without jeopardising it. Perhaps the length of time was because Thomas moved from place to place and there's always something not quite right when a man flees to the Philippines. The letter was given via the Royal Family Threat Unit, as is usual when there's any form of threat, even towards reputation, to the involved royal member. Have we forgotten how Katherine's brother had to be told to stop his dealings with Russians? Or over the years told to stop using his royal connection to get busines? The MET are to answer questions, it won't come via H&M. Posters are acting faux confused, as though they know the inner workings of the royal family and how they are constantly advised by the FTAC via the MET, which was confirmed via the security court cases.

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 09:23

cheezncrackers · 24/10/2026 09:18

Am I? Why?

I’ve explained.

There was NOTHING stopping Meg contacting any authorities.

The letter, looks like it was addressed to her and was later presented to her.

UK police can pass on information but there’s nothing that stopped Meghan from doing so. it looks like it’s her letter. The Sun and ITV have access to it but the Met have no records?! It’s clearly in her possession.

She says that she believed the UK authorities were investigating. THATS NOT POSSIBLE

There’s no legal advice she would have been given that would say that this was true….and then she let 8 years go by

Or the Royal family, starting with Mountbatten and Prince Philip. Then carrying through with Charles and Andrew. It's quite sickening how widespread pedophilia and child abuse is. People are praising William to high heaven (for existing and being made into a billionaire?) But the silence has got to end. It won't wash with the new generations.

The Met aren’t investigating these Crimes! They are investigating the whereabouts of a letter that Meg claims they passed on.

FancyKitten · 24/10/2026 09:26

Maybe she fell out with RF originally because they wouldn’t help her with all of this…
