Stop repeating it

You can accidentally defame someone by being careless in what you say. You may also be liable for simply repeating someone else’s defamatory statement if your republication causes the claimant harm.

https://www.brettwilson.co.uk/expertise/defamation/

Everyone but you had probably forgotten about that, but you keep repeating something you claim is defamatory.

I have a theory about the date discrepancy.

Met police receive a letter in December 2018 and it’s date stamped 9/12/18.
It’s put in an in-tray and there’s a delay in dealing with it due to Christmas and New Year holidays.
Met police forward the letter to Meghan in January 2019 and document this in their files.
Fast forward to now, Meghan checks her copy of the letter (possibly saved as a pdf somewhere safe), checks the date and, being American, reads it as 12th September 2018 which could feasibly be referred to as summer 2018.

Just a theory. Or it could just be that she lied as she’s been known to previously.

Her spokespeople have already admitted that she may have got the date wrong.

Following a thorough review of Met Police systems and records, we have confirmed that in January 2019, we received a letter...

That's a very plausible explanation and actually a likely one.

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 15:02

That’s the thing. I do feel sympathy for Meg because the family is utterly appalling. All of them.

This is why Meg was such a risk to the RF. She came from nowhere and no one knew anything about her and her family background. She hid her family from Harry and created a narrative of who she was to fit in with him.

If Harry was going out with the usual posho, the RF would know all about them, their family, who they are friends with, what schools they went to, what scandals the family had. Its a small world they inhabit. Even though Kate wasn’t an aristo, she went to the right schools etc and was easily ‘verified’

Edited

I completely agree about the risks around Meghan "taking on the job", Atlusvue, but not about them being unable to know her background

With the resources they have I expect they had a pretty good idea if not actual detail, and could well have seen the entire mess coming - though short of locking Harry up I'm not sure what they could have done about it

And in fairness that's not to blame Meghan for everything. I'm sure plenty of us would struggle with joining all that comes with the RF, but also that most would have the sense not to try, especially if our background in no way fitted us for it

I think she’s already admitted she got the date wrong (without convoluted explanation) 😆😆

Who refers to mid September as summer?

And is a specialist police dept really going to tarry for a month in dealing with correspondence sent to a high profile member of the royal family?

Always oriented towards the short-term win, and immediate gratification. And that might not be such a big problem if they also did some joined-up thinking, at the very least checking facts and important dates and timelines. And, in particular, reviewing what they've previouslybsaid, to eliminate contractions and outright lies.

The real problem is that they not only forget the previous comments but that they can not stop talking!!!
this was such a terrible own goal because it was completely unnecessary and ridiculous!
now instead of being a source of sympathy she has embroiled herself in more controversy.

What does CSA by Thomas Markle have to do with security for Meghan and Harry?

It's possible that were also threats against HAM for not speaking out or a blackmail attempt.

It seems that the letter was treated as harassment/stalking rather than information about a crime. Given that the statistics produced earlier show that the unit gets around 500-1,000 reports of fixated people a year (and I guess a lot of them write multiple times) - it's not always clear if someone is reporting actual crimes or just spewing hate. Not to mention the allegations being about a non-UK citizen, living in different country but potentially committing crimes in a third country.

Perhaps Harry can't even remember himself. Don't mention the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream 🤮

American media are starting to pick up on the fact that Meghan described herself as a complete “daddy’s girl” in Episode 2 of Harry & Meghan (released in 2022). Some are questioning why she would look back on their relationship so fondly if she already knew about these allegations from 2019/2020, or why she chose to bring him up at all in the documentary. They are also discussing how she claimed their relationship only changed “when the media got involved”.

I honestly can’t believe she’s done this to herself.
