The letter could have been from an ex gf or DiL of TM.

Entirely possible Meghan didn't believe the allegations at the time.

Don't get too carried away. HAM will spin this. Victim narrative, forgetting of course the real victims

Brilliant article about the position Harry now finds himself in. Some snippets. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/willam-harry-meghan-markle-b3072433.html

The Independent:

‘Forget politics, a week is a long time in the royal goldfish bowl. It began on Wednesday when Harry proved he was still able to stop the press when he let the world know that reconciliation with his family is ‘the most important thing’ to him. Confronted by the British weather (mixed) and a royal welcome (frosty), Harry’s return to England appears to have alerted him to what he no longer has – a seat at Britain’s top table.

As power plays go, the Prince of Wales’s sanitised appearance on high profile BBC1 platform will underscore Harry’s impotence - his GQ interview being a masterclass in what not to do. (Please note the masterclass that Harry was meant to be promoting was on grief – predictably it wasn’t the one the press picked up on).
Instead the Duke’s latest overshare served to remind us of his new found homelessness. A dislocation compounded by the other big royal story of the week - Meghan Markle’s statement about being deeply distressed following the reports of child sex images allegations being made against her father Thomas Markle. While he denies them as ‘sick lies’, it is all a salient reminder that all is not rosy in the Sussex camp.

There is an irony to this impasse. Six years ago Harry left Britain in a strop, flaunting and monetising his inferior ‘SPARE’ status, only to compound his brother’s power base. These days the Prince of Wales, invested with the hereditary trump card from the get-go, finds himself in an unassailable position. Catherine and William are now all the King has got when it comes to star power within the royal ranks.

Harry knows this, which is why he caveated his stated desire for reconciliation with the disclaimer that some ‘scars stick around forever.’ Well quite. As do some documentaries and some interviews. Perhaps he could start with a public book-burning

For Harry fans, among whom I count myself a part-time player, his capacity to emote is a touching reminder of the many similarities he shares with his late mother. Sadly she did not live to warn Harry of the downsides of letting rip.
In his interview the Duke pushed back against the idea he had any reason to feel sorry for himself. ‘I am a prince’ he reminded GQ. Well quite. And one who has done shed-loads of therapy. But no amount of psychobabble can flip the narrative: these days Harry is a prince saddled with a scandal-hit father-in-law, and stuck on the wrong side of palace walls. Small wonder he craves re-entry to the royal firm.

Pitifully he conceded that now he was back in Britain it was nice to be ‘closer to my family’. Close but no cigar. No Christmas invite, no season’s greetings. The safe money has the Sussexes back in America, roasting chestnuts in California with Doria. It looks like Grinch William will get his own way this yuletide. As Harry baldly observes: ‘some people don’t want to work it out’.
*
Publication and remuneration are tempting salves, but the playing field is far from level. William is richer, William doesn’t have to delve into personal matters to make money (Earthshot and only Earthshot), and William can afford to hold a grudge.

Olive branch or not, the Prince of Wales will still become King. And Harry will drift back downstream, praying for family charity and popping up in compromising celebrity iterations, his nose pressed against the proverbial royal window. ’

Brilliant article. Only issue is, Harry doesn't know it yet unfortunately

William has all the power now – and Harry knows it more than ever

The Duke of Sussex is a prince saddled with a scandal-hit father-in-law and stuck on the wrong side of palace walls. Small wonder Harry craves re-entry to the royal firm, says Tessa Dunlop. Just a shame, then, that William can afford to hold a grudge

Oh come on! You know the difference if you are told just after the wedding or if you are pregnant with your first child!!!!!

You can’t confuse the dates that much. And if she has no record of anything….then why say 2018? where’s the evidence you were assured that it was investigated?

the Sun:

‘A spokesman for the Sussexes told The Sun the minor date discrepancy was “understandable” given the amount of time that had passed.
He said: “In recalling events from more than seven years ago, without the benefit of a diary entry or contemporaneous record, it is understandable that she may have been mistaken by a few months.
“If the MPS holds a time-stamped record confirming that the letter was reviewed in 2019, that should be treated as the accurate reference point for when it was received and shared with the Duchess.
“I think it is reasonable to recognise that she is doing her best to recall the precise timing of events that were not diarised at the time, and that any discrepancy of a few months is an understandable consequence of that passage of time.”

Edited

The later the date, the more obvious that ditching her father was nothing to do with this, and her self righteous justification for going NC would fail. But then again, it couldn’t be too early because everyone knows he was originally supposed to come to the wedding.

Trouble now is - is she trying to convince people she forgot why she went NC with her father? Or was that just a lie? Because it’s quite clear now that it was nothing to do with these allegations.

Starryfifty · 24/10/2026 18:21

Would not surprise me if TM junior wrote the letter. Maybe him and the dad had fallen out then over whatever. Absolutely nothing surprises me with that lot

Pinch of salt required, I would say BUT this is all such a shit-show, who knows?

Rhaidimiddim · 24/10/2026 17:30

MM made the link between TMJ's allegations and thevletter. The letter wasn't common knowledge until TMJ made his allegations and then MM's statement mentions the letter containing "troubling and disturbing" allegations about her dad. Why mention this letter at all in this context if it wasn't also about CSA?

True, but she couldn’t even remember when she received the letter, and the Met mention security issues raised by the letter. Would that be the case if it contained allegations about TMsnr? Or did it contain threats as well in which case it would surely have been acted on? It’s all a bit murky. I know the Sun say they have seen the letter which makes it all the more strange. I really havent a clue

True. But the US isn't going to extradite an American citizen based on an ongoing investigation, they would want to see the report after the investigation closed. And in the current 'atmosphere' between the US and Mexico the US may very well have told Mexico to go swivel.

But as I mentioned above, if TMSr had even a whiff that the shit was going to hit the fan he could have been out of Mexico within an hour (give or take) and then been airborne out of the US in not much more than an hour after that. So it's also quite possible that he would have been out of the US before Mexican authorities even knew he was gone or US authorities knew he'd been back in the US.

Mexico has been extraditing dozens of drug cartel suspects to the US recently so I can't see why the US wouldn't extradite someone accused of what Markle Sr is accused of.
https://nypost.com/2026/02/23/us-news/trump-quietly-got-mexico-to-hand-over-100-cartel-leaders-before-el-mencho-raid/

Of course, you are right that Mexico would need to issue a warrant but, if, as you suggested, the Mexican authorities were about to go after Thomas Sr, hence why he hotfootted it to the Philippines, then that presumes that the Mexicans were already investigating Thomas Sr.

Trump quietly got Mexico to hand over 100 cartel leaders — including El Mencho’s brother — before Jalisco raid

Mexico’s killing of Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera is the latest action in a new era of cooperation with the US government that has seen the country bring nearly 100 drug cartel members across …

First off, I admit that I was sooo far behind on threads that I've given up and skipped to the last post. So forgive me if this has been speculated earlier.

Regarding the reverse ferret Megxit in late August, it could be possible that she had gotten word that, as a result of TMJr's discovery and subsequent report to authorities, there was an investigation starting (or going on) into her father and she either had been or was worried that she would be contacted by the relevant authorities as to 'what did she know, and when did she know it?' and was concerned about allegations in the 2018 letter which she kept silent on. I'm not suggesting she would be anything other than her being approached as an innocent party asked to provide information. But I have a feeling that the last thing HaM would want would be for either of them to be involved in a police investigation of that nature in any way, shape, or form, let alone any damning information should that 2018 letter come to light.

The US authorities weren't going to 'protect her' from other authorities, but perhaps HaM believed that, 'as royalty' the UK authorities would. May also be another reason why they desperately want RAVEC protection.

It's also quite possible that 'the 2018 letter' itself was written by a family member (Samantha's letter at the KP gates?) as a plea to M to either 'tell what she knew' or to 'come to their father's defense'. I'm sure that any letters, especially one handed over at the KP gates from an estranged relative, would be screened for contents and then handed over to the appropriate person to give to the Royal involved. If this letter does contain a plea to defend him against CSA allegations, it will be damning.

FWIW, as far as I can tell TMSr's residency dates are:

2011 retired, moved to Mexico
2017 reported still living in Mexico
2025 moved to Philippines
2026 returned to Florida, USA

My feeling is that his move to the Philippines in 2025 may have been prompted by an investigation by the Mexican authorities who may have contacted US and Philippine authorities. US authorities may have been contacted if he had kept any 'ties' to the US. And chances are he still had US bank accounts.

Or it could all be bollocks on the part of TMJr. Who knows at this point.

Excellent. The poster who knows California law is here. I have not posted on this thread, but I did post on the "other" one. And as usual you are making excellent points.

Something I posted about on the other thread, and that might fit into yours, is the concept of Mandated Reporter. The UK does not really have that. I have been through the list of Mandated Reporters in the code, but no mention of Child protection charity owners. But lots of stuff about people connected to schools. School associations, coaches etc.

Could that be playing a part in this ?

My understanding, is that Mandated Reporters are not just tied to a specific organization, but to the greater state. That is they know of accusations against anyone in that state, they legally have to report it.

I think it is a very good law by the way.

The letter may well have been written by a victim.

According to The Sun:
"The Sun has seen the letter written by someone close to Thomas Markle Snr who cannot be revealed for privacy reasons."

I guess "close to" could mean a lot of things, but I'm not sure they would describe a victim in this way.

I get where you're coming from, readbutdonotpostoften, but given her attritude towards the MIGS would she really have wanted to consult them on anything?

Yes I think you are right and is the most likely scenario with the MIG, I do suppose it is possible they were involved, advised and their advice was ignored?

Mexico and the US have an extradition treaty, so Mexico can ask for him to be extradited from the US if they believe he has committed offences in their jurisdiction.

The 2019 letter was supposedly handwritten by someone known to the Markle family. It's an odd way of going about doing things. When the letter writer saw that nothing was being investigated, why didn't he/she make the allegations to a more relevant police authority?

US authorities may have been contacted if he had kept any 'ties' to the US. And chances are he still had US bank accounts.

Could he have moved if there were investigations going on?

Chances are yes, as long as no charges had been filed. His passport wouldn't have to be surrendered until after charges and an arrest. And it could be that Mexico was only too glad to get rid of an alleged pervert and the cost of an investigation and trial, if they even knew he was leaving.

Since he's a US citizen, it would have been quite easy for him to cross the border back into the US and then fly out from San Diego or LAX. Rosarito is only 20 miles from San Ysidro border crossing so it would have taken a matter of only a few hours from locking his front door to being in the air en route to Cebu. Mexican authorities rarely screen people leaving Mexico and US Border Patrol would only have looked at his passport waived him through.

My brother lived in Mexico for about 10 years after retiring and came and went across the border many times, still does to visit friends there.
