But I think she's completely unaware of that.

She's got no idea because she lacks empathy.

I don't know the details of this but I can imagine this has blown up at a moment not of her choosing and commercial decisions as to ad placements etc are mad long before and probably not done by her either but her team. But if you want to find each and every potential transgression and used it to beat her so be it.

Do you really think it would have been difficult to not add and advert to a piece talking about CSA?

She's wildly out of touch though. Asking that child in a working class part of Nottingham if they'd ever been to California, and shutting down the boy who asked about the car! Not got the regular folk vibe.

But I think she's completely unaware of that.

fridaynightzzz · 24/10/2026 09:49

The more information you share, the more you give for people to pick apart.
Im sure they believe - all press is good press, so much for being private.

If you want to describe using the sexual abuse of children as an opportunity to make money from selling candles and bookmarks as a “potential transgression”, that’s up to you. Unfortunately for the “it was obviously a mistake” argument, Meghan has form for trying to cash in from exploiting vulnerable people. Some may even think it rather convenient that this all emerged to coincide with the As ever seasonal product launch, and that a series of articles including As ever adverts was quite clearly lined up and ready to go.

I wonder if she's decided to try and appeal to a different audience. Her die-hard supporters all seem to be from a very low socio-economic background. Perhaps she has seen an opportunity to expand and build on this with The Sun, the tabloid of choice for that demographic? That could've been behind the choice of the Nottingham industrial estate too. Try to position themselves as the opposite of the RF, the hero's of the council estates? There is money in that market, although she'd have to massively lower her prices, and they could see themselves as morally superior to snooty royals. I doubt Meghan has heard of Eva Peron but I could imagine her trying for that kind of role. Obviously she would fail as it would be an act with no real effort towards anyone. But there are those in society who are vulnerable to blind adulation and hero worship. Which is what Meghan wants. She's never completely given up on the idea of Diana 2.0 'the people's princess' fantasy.

Particularly as she's always tried to position herself as a brave whistleblower who won't be silenced, calls people out and shines a light on things others look away from.

Silence means complicity, right?

The reality is, there will be months of stories, people will question her inaction over time, this will never disappear for Meg,

Families often have to carry the stigma of others crimes but we are seeing inaction from Meghan which carries it own stigma.

you can’t operate an aspirational lifestyle brand, when the reality of your life is pretty harrowing.

It’s going to be drip, drip of stories that will erode her social standing.

I do feel sorry for her kids and having to go to school with all this in the press.

I’m sure Harry was aware of it but I think they now handle family issues separately.

SiegfriedSassoon · 24/10/2026 09:26

There's not much that would surprise me about Meghan but even my eyebrows went up at her using this as an opportunity to flog her wares.
Surely proves that there is nobody advising her because that was an insane decision, to put an As Ever ad in The Sun along with her news story/statement about CSA. I'm genuinely flabbergasted. She's lost the plot. "I'm devastated my dad has likely sexually abused children, here's a link to buy my signature teapot". WTF

I'm putting a strictly metaphorical bet on the DM having done a lot of digging and just waiting to release it.

It’s only a few weeks ago I said that one day in the not too distant future we’d wake up to a bombshell in the press. And here we are.

The Mail were playing a canny game and were I think, lulling them into a false sense of wellbeing after the court case.

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 09:36

I too wonder why there wasn’t a joint statement from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and why it’s just coming from Meg.

Was Harry aware of all this?

LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout · 24/10/2026 09:36

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 24/10/2026 08:56

I think the door has closed for any RF ham reconciliation.

It’s a shit show. Meghan making claims. TMJr getting photos taken next to the ‘evidence’ like a game hunter.

The Sun and TMJr’s expert all over the evidence before the authorities. That’s never going to end up in court, their actions have made the evidence inadmissible.

Compare and contrast to the measures way that William handled the illegal phone hacking, which resulted in successful prosecutions and the Leveson enquiry

I agree re the chances of any reconciliation now being zero. The RF already has a massive problem with Andrew. They are not going to get anywhere near these two who despite knowing about the TM allegations since 2018, didn’t do anything except protect his reputation with their lies about why they cut contact. And now they’re working with the Sun and using this story about abused children as an opportunity to advertise As ever products. Unbelievable.

Or the Royal family, starting with Mountbatten and Prince Philip. Then carrying through with Charles and Andrew. It's quite sickening how widespread pedophilia and child abuse is. People are praising William to high heaven (for existing and being made into a billionaire?) But the silence has got to end. It won't wash with the new generations.

What are you claiming about Prince Philip?

Your post doesn’t make sense.

I very much doubt the letter was sent to a minor police dept very few people even know exists.

As I theorised above, it's much more likely that the letter was initially sent to Meghan, intercepted by staff and then sent on to the 'Fixated Persons' dept. In any case, the existence of said letter should never have been made public. But as we've seen from their 'security fight', neither Harry nor Meghan has any concept of confidentiality and discretion.

Yes. That makes a lot of sense.

Rhaidimiddim · 24/10/2026 09:33

Late to this thread and haven't perused the earlier posts.

But this latest story beggars (my) belief.

A letter "written by someone close to the Markle family" (according to their bestie Chris Ship) was sent to an obscure branch of the Met in 2018.

The Met Branch are scrambling to find the letter.

The Met Branch not only showed this letter to MM but ALLOWED HER TO MAKE A COPY OF IT. How many breaches of police procedure does this involve?

Did I mention that the Met Branch are scrambling to find this letter?

But MM has a copy, which she has shared with them, and with a British tabloid (oh, the irony)!

I'm glad to see that Page Six (that well-known bastion of fact-based journalism) is asking questions.

If our press every get round to asking questions, they might start with asking whether the letter (or the information in it) actually every existed. If so, was it shared with the HoS, since it involved her family and the safety of the children within it. They might then find the answer is no, which undermines the credibility of either MM or the Met Branch; if the answer is yes, then the RF get dragged into the mess and have to start explaining stuff.

This is a mega mess that is going to rumble on for years. If someone had ever decided to plant a disruptor into the RF - job done!

cheezncrackers · 24/10/2026 08:55

I still think this could be a PR win or her. It vindicates her utterly in her choice to have nothing to do with her father and not allow him to meet her DC, something that she has been widely criticised for over the years.

That statement that she put out, I bet she's been sitting on it - or a version of it - for years. She must've known that the story was likely to come out at some point and she's been waiting for that day since 2018. Knowing how she loves to clap back to any story that she feels is untrue or unfair, it must've just about killed her this past 8 years to not be able to say anything and to just have to wait patiently until the day she got to have her say.

Having said that, the journos have been busy this past 24 hours. The DM has two articles now - one is Amanda Platell asking 'Is this the point where we should all feel sorry for Meghan?' and the other asking 'Why did Meghan describe herself as a Daddy's Girl in the Netflix doc in 2022'. There is going to be a lot of digging and creating of timelines and looking up what she said and when.

But what about the period 2016-2018 ?

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 07:58

Timing is weird.

The Sun had the exclusive from Markle jnr and exclusives from Meg.

We know Markle jnr would have more than willing to work with the press. The Sun play ball and get the info they need. Now they go to Meg for a right to reply and work a deal with her that they get her exclusives too. She’s VERY eager to get her side out. She even thanks the Sun!!!!

interestingly, it comes out the week after their pseudo royal visit. So they still got their big day out.…….

Yes, the pseudo-royal visit that Matt Wilkinson of the Sun was all over like a right little squaddie.
