She didn’t notify the authorities, didn’t follow up, didn’t reveal the truth

Everyone keeps saying this, @Atlusvue, but if it comes to it she'll almost certainly insist she tried but was stopped by the palace / those she reported it to ignored it / her communications were "lost"

I’m sure she will try, but when it comes to CSA that won’t wash.

Sorry if this point has already been made, I don’t post on this board usually.

In both Oprah and the Netflix doc, Harry and Meghan blamed the royal family for her “losing” her father. Harry specifically said in Netflix that if she hadn’t married into the RF, she wouldn’t have lost him. She laid blame at the door of the RF for her own decision to distance herself from an alleged paedophile. Nobody would blame her for their estrangement on this basis, but to allege it was for other reasons and actually lay blame in this way is absolutely unforgivable.

Exactly.

Which makes me think did Harry know?

Why would he on national tv, stating he is responsible for the heartache of Meg losing her father…..if he knew 4 years earlier that Markle Snr had been accused of certain crimes and that Meg had cut him off over it.

Is that the actions of a father? To take blame for the end of a relationship, when in fact the relationship ended because Markle Snr was a possible safety concern around children?

Did Meg keep this news from him?

I suspect Meg was informed of this info BEFORE the wedding and Harry may not have been told.

HAM will see this as a huge PR win unfortunately

His private parties featured 13 year old girls. We know Mountbatten abused children every way possible. We know Prince Charles made Savile untouchable. He shielded the pedophile Bishop Peter Ball. We know they tried to ignore Andrew/Epstein. Princess Anne disappointed by standing by Andrew, thinking it was a fuss about nothing, saying that Charles went too far and offering him accommodation. But they have all been brought up around pedophilia. But let's put Meghan and now Doria on trial.

Yes, lets - if it's appropriate. If it isn't, which time will tell, then OK.

Why bring up past issues as a reason not to act on current ones?

It's like saying: Peter Sutcliffe killed lots of women - why have a go at that man who's only killed one?

Thanks @elessar

The letter which was sent to the Duchess of Sussex in 2018 containing allegations about her father has been seen by ITV News.
It is a handwritten note, across several pages, which sets out a series of claims about Thomas Markle.
The letter was addressed to the Metropolitan Police’s specialist unit called the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre which deals with individuals who could pose a risk to royals, senior politicians and other VIPs.
It was then passed to Meghan’s police protection team so they could hand it to her.
On Friday, the Metropolitan Police, said they had been unable to confirm the existence of the letter and were still "undertaking enquiries internally” in order to confirm they did pass it on.
As it contained no claims on illegality in the UK, no police investigation was launched and, it seems, no record of the letter was logged in the police database.
However, ITV News has now seen a copy of the letter. It contains claims about Thomas Markle’s behaviour.
The letter was written by a someone who is close to the Markle family and has connections with a number of family members.

Why would this person who was concerned about CSA send accusations to UK rather than to law enforcement in Mexico or US. Was this person concerned about the CSA or was their motive to besmirch or to warn MM and the UK institutions?

When did Anne say it was a fuss about nothing ?
Being concerned about a sibling’s mental health is not the same as condoning their behaviour .

The stench from the Markle family is stomach turning.

Whoever wrote this letter, whatever M knew in 2018, whatever the brother knew about the dads behaviour in Thailand, it was obviously known for a long time among the family that the dad was at the least a sleazy bastard and possibly a child abuser.

This isn't news to any of them. It's just public now.

It feels like there are some pretty sordid nasty secrets held within that family.

It's really horrible stuff. Due diligence Harry, too late now unfortunately

"As for so many others little of this makes sense to me, so I'll go on waiting until things become clearer"

@Puzzledandpissedoff I'm with you. At first it seemed straightforward but now it's a right muddle.

To go back to the title of the thread, this is why we have 55 threads on PR Disasters. For some reason the Sussex machine can't even maintain public sympathy for Meghan in a situation where most would have empathy for her. I'm sure most people are indifferent but if anyone is reading the articles Sussex PR has turned legitimate justification into disaster.

What doesn’t make sense to me is to now share a letter (important evidence surely) publicly with media - when the approach (which I 100% agreed with) has been for the last 8 years to allow the appropriate authorities to do their investigations.

She’s inadvertently covering herself in shit here and throwing the victims under the bus.

She could compromise any further investigation by her directly contributing to a trial by media.

HAM are the victims here. Not the abused children 🙄 the whole thing is hideous

Justnot · 24/10/2026 12:38

It’s a shit show - if they were clever they would have talked to Met etc before making a statement - the Met will be loving their work! Everyone has got egg on their faces

I think it’s probably a picture taken with her phone. It would have been very easy to snatch a picture of the letter and not be noticed but going away into another room in order to scan one on a copier or printer would be a different matter.

The whole damn thing is a mess. The police should have the letter, no doubt, and it's just bizarre that the press is saying they've seen it. Surely it's evidence of some sort? The picture of 'the stash' is also disturbing. Glad they aren't working Royals anymore.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/10/2026 12:27

Thomas Sr has certainly never been investigated before as even he would not be so stupid with such suspicions hanging over him to leave 100s of incriminating photos lying around in the shared flat lived in with Thomas Jr once he'd returned to the US, leaving the photos for Thomas Jr to find

This is why I'm confused over the picture of his son now in the Philippines, gurning over a huge stash @BunnyBunbunbun - and now the Scum are saying it includes CSA images involving Thomas Snr

So is this supposed to be material recorded over there (where he didn't live for that long) or items transferred from the US - in which case why take them at all and let his son have access?

As for so many others little of this makes sense to me, so I'll go on waiting until things become clearer

It is for this reason and the disusting theories say they are colluding together and caused this why I am not coming back to thsi board. The fact people are still picking apart a woman because of a statement whilst saying why didn't she saying back then oh but now she has why did she and she engineered this. Its just beyond disgusting now and I don't want to be around people who actually think like this. Let's face it if it was their Dad or child who was accused of doing something heinous not a single one of them would be running around telling the press or anyone else to protect others until it was proven it was true. Yet they are hear holding someone to some greater standard and you just know if this was anyone else their reaction wold be the complete opposite.

But it still hasn't proven to be true. It's being investigated (now, belatedly) it seems. So Meghan isn't making a statement now anything has been 'proven to be true' - she's made a statement now someone else has come out with an accusation. Both too late and too early. Schrodinger's statement.

Starryfifty · 24/10/2026 12:23

Anyone could have written that letter. It's from a source close to Markle family. Something is off big time. I don't see how Meg can spin it as positive. She will do of course. Why didn't she and her hubby go to ends of the earth to ensure these allegations were investigated to protect children? Yes I know it's responsibility of relevant police force but this paid pride themselves on "doing good"

If you believed, that a relative of yours was under legal investigation by the Met police and because of this you can’t speak out……why would you not becomes suspicious when you’ve received zero updates from them?

Why wouldn’t you enquire what’s happening with the investigation? She would have discovered within weeks it wasn’t being investigated.

Why did she wash her hands of any involvement?

Edited

Why on earth has this got anything at all to do with the metropolitan police? TM lives in the US!!!

And Chris Ship and others have seen it. It apparently came from either the Mark les or someone close to them.

I’m going to go with my previous guess: around the time of the engagement and wedding, Thomas Jnr and Samantha Markle and Thomas Snr were all saying things publicly, sending letters, going on podcasts, talking to journos. They were ruining Meghan’s narrative (and we know she needs to control that at all times). They were making her look bad and at one point could have jeopardized the marriage itself - Meghan’s greatest coup of her life.

This letter was sent to the Fixated people dept because of that: it was asking the police to get them to back off Meghan/protect the RF reputation from these stalkers who were bringing Meghan and therefore Harry into disrepute. Harry and the machine behind him were the ultimate shield and whitewashing machine. The CSA allegations were in the letter as “proof” of why these people aren’t to be trusted and shouldn’t be allowed near Meghan or the RF. This is my theory, no proof at all obvs, but it makes sense why this dept of this police force in this country.

And who would have most to gain from Meghan’s marriage to Harry? Meghan, and Doria (if only as a loving mum). Perhaps one of them sent it. Perhaps Sunshine Sachs (still on the payroll at the time) sent it (they’d know who this dept is) as part of their brief to enhance Meghan’s PR image.

The point of the letter was to try to enlist state authorities in keeping the Markles out of the press, in particular Markle Snr. No wonder Meghan still has a copy, and I question who brought this to The Sun’s attention right now.
