Yeh, if you’re told your dad committed a heinous crime….you don’t get the date wrong of when you were told. That stays with you.

Remembering that Meghan was going through "the worst seven years of her life" she'll probably claim the "suicidal ideation" distracted her, Atlusvue Hmm

BemusedAmerican · 24/10/2026 13:46

@jeffgoldblum As far as I can see;

  1. There were 2 letters. The Met only has a copy of the 2019 letter. Meghan has a copy of the 2018 letter.
  2. OR There was only 1 letter written in 2019, which is why the Met only has one letter. No idea about the 2018 letter.

Thanks bemused …..unfortunately I’m still confused…the more that comes out the more questions there are….of course had Meghan kept silent…sympathies would be with her …her fans would have assumed this was the reason for the parting from her father……
but no ….apparently yet another pr disaster….

Surely this will be the final death knell for their public life ambitions? Surely they will be keeping an extremely low profile in the future?

Not sure if they will be keeping a low profile, but this saga makes them - especially Meghan - seem toxic and I can't imagine too many charities, etc. will want to have much to do with them.

Hi jeff

The Met Police have confirmed that they received a letter:

Following a thorough review of Met Police systems and records, we have confirmed that in January 2019, we received a letter containing a number of claims about alleged offending outside the United Kingdom. It was sent to the MPS Protection Command to raise concerns in relation to the security of the Duchess of Sussex.

To me this suggests that the primary concern they had regarding the letter was whether it or not the writer posed a security risk, hence forwarding it to Protection Command.
I suspect that had some bearing on how seriously they took the allegations of offending within the letter.

They go on to say:

The letter was reviewed and a decision was made that it should be passed to the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their awareness. The details of the allegations in the letter were not shared with other law enforcement agencies.
The MPS is reviewing the handling of this matter in 2019 and considering whether a referral to the IOPC is necessary to review our approach.

So, they are now reviewing whether the letter should have been shared.

The date that the Met Police give for receiving the letter does not tally with the date that Meghan gave for receiving it.

And these allegations could be anything? Not necessarily CSA ?

PammyPrang · 24/10/2026 13:49

Another confused person here - do we know who wrote the letter? I’m sure that letters (or modern equivalent) are received constantly by the police etc accusing people of this and that.

If Meghan was informed of this it was either a) how dare someone say this about my lovely dad or b) I knew it! Omg - I want to know if this is being investigated and will keep on at the police for a progress report. Or maybe c) how embarrassing for me I’ll keep schtum and hope no one finds out about it.

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 13:49

Oh come on! You know the difference if you are told just after the wedding or if you are pregnant with your first child!!!!!

You can’t confuse the dates that much. And if she has no record of anything….then why say 2018? where’s the evidence you were assured that it was investigated?

the Sun:

‘A spokesman for the Sussexes told The Sun the minor date discrepancy was “understandable” given the amount of time that had passed.
He said: “In recalling events from more than seven years ago, without the benefit of a diary entry or contemporaneous record, it is understandable that she may have been mistaken by a few months.
“If the MPS holds a time-stamped record confirming that the letter was reviewed in 2019, that should be treated as the accurate reference point for when it was received and shared with the Duchess.
“I think it is reasonable to recognise that she is doing her best to recall the precise timing of events that were not diarised at the time, and that any discrepancy of a few months is an understandable consequence of that passage of time.”

Just catching up here, but if that letter was handwritten then it didn't come from the FBI (which IIRC was the story yesterday).

Yes it's handwritten. Surely that can be analysed? See who wrote the letter. That would be interesting

Like I said yesterday, I’m lost as a fart with all this. It breaking on the BBC now and it definitely says January 2019 🤷‍♀️

I doubt that very much. They are a couple who live for publicity and being in the public eye. That won't ever stop.

SiegfriedSassoon · 24/10/2026 13:47

Starryfifty · 24/10/2026 13:45

Wholly agree. The entire family are incredibly toxic. Harry is so unbelievably stupid. He didn't even meet one of them before he married her. The Markles will be a shit stain on the RF indefinitely because of his recklessness

He'd have been better off marrying a contestant of off big brother or love island. Much higher calibre.

An incredibly long read but very interesting. An attorney mulls over the TM situation.

That's along read but about the phone I found a really old Samsung Galaxy Mega in the loft clearing out stuff and its from 2013 - plugged it in charged it up and it worked - so his point about being suspicious about charghing up after all these years is frankly nonsense. If that's the level of his arguments he must be a strange attorney indeed.

That’s my point- if she believed they were investigating- she’d quickly find out they weren’t because they have zero jurisdiction

Maybe the letter said it was already reported to the appropriate local law enforcement and the Mets role was compartmentalised as DoS security risk to harassment, blackmail? That would seem the only relevant remit for the Met if allegations were in a different jurisdiction. However if they hadn’t been reported locally then that process should have been completed - probs why Met have now referred themselves.

Their employees at KP were too busy weeping at their desks over the constant media handling demands from H&M, according to Spare. Oh, and being asked to sort out MM’s mental health issues.

I’m waiting for a clapback statement blaming QEII.

Will it not be W and C’s fault ?
If only C had taken M shopping and held hands with her .

Meghan really does come from the most disgusting low life family.

I can actually understand her wanting to keep them away from Harry and the RF and distance herself from them. There is obviously a lot of very nasty shady stuff going on that's been kept quiet by them.

If she herself came across as a sincere, hardworking, committed, generous personality I am sure there would be lots of sympathy for her having to deal with such low lifes. After all we don't chose our family, and they don't define us.

Unfortunately she has come across herself as a lying backstabbing, self serving narcissist who destroys family relationships and tries to take others down. So the impression when her disgusting family are revealed to the world, is that she isn't that different to them.

Wholly agree. The entire family are incredibly toxic. Harry is so unbelievably stupid. He didn't even meet one of them before he married her. The Markles will be a shit stain on the RF indefinitely because of his recklessness

For someone who allegedly has a degree in International relations and wanted to be a diplomat, she’s utterly incurious/incompetent in the matter of separate jurisdictions and cultures. Anyone would think she wasn’t at the very heart of the British establishment, where a few discreet questions about process and what might be going on could be asked.

smilesy · 24/10/2026 13:42

AtIusvue · 24/10/2026 13:40

Maybe Meg is trying to pass off she believed they were investigating Mr Markles crimes when in fact they were investigating if this posed a threat to her security.

She can pretend to be confused and justify why she never bothered to contact authorities.

It does seem like Meghan and the Met are at cross purposes 🤷‍♀️

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/10/2026 13:41

Rhaidimiddim · 24/10/2026 12:49

It smears Doria, too, for leaving MM to be brought up by her dad alone, if it was known that he was "at the least a sleazy bastard". Especially since she was supposedly a social worker.

We've no way of knowing whether or not she had a choice in leaving Meghan with him for years, Rhaidimiddim ...

On this matter the palace will certainly break their silence if she lies about their conduct.

Edited to add I completely agree, but with so many lies exposed already I'm not sure the palace revealing another would make much difference to her, beyond offerinmg another opportunity to suggest they're racist

What does CSA by Thomas Markle have to do with security for Meghan and Harry?

It might have been seen more as a malicious communication and potential blackmail threat to H&M / RF by Met at the time. Q is why didn’t the writer of the letter approach law enforcement in either Mexico or US to report suspected CSA?
