Anyway, just finished watch W on Graham Norton. That’s probably the longest I’ve seen him on film. What a difference compared to watching H’s numerous episodes of filmed content. No fidgeting, he looked engaged, he looked happy, he let others speak, and he made a couple of funny quips that didn’t sound like he was trying. Most importantly, there was no whinging!

William doesn't mind laughing at himself whereas Harry can't but is stuck in very juvenile humour, often inappropriate physical humour, such as smacking bums/tweaking nipples etc.

William fully leans into the fact that he is now the the embarrassing dad whereas Harry takes himself very seriously. We saw that with his strop when the autocue stopped working a few weeks' ago when he stormed off the stage unable to continue without it - whereas I've no doubt that William likely always has a hardcopy somewhere.

Never was
’Oh, what a tangled web we weave

more apt than describing Meghan Markle’s exploits with her version of the truth.

I’m finding it all horribly entangled and confused, so will reserve judgement (although my earlier comment that it would have been better for Meghan to have said as little as possible still stands). However you slice it, it’s more Markle drama. What an exhausting existence that woman must have, and most of it (although not necessarily the current uproar) self inflicted.

There are elements that the current uproar is self inflicted. Not of course the contents of the letter or the allegations around TM and not IMO her reason to keep quiet for the last 8 years (risk of derailing a conviction, no actual proof at the time etc) and I am supportive of her being NC even with unproven allegations - but to now hijack these recent developments to enrich herself personally (As Ever adverts in The Sun) and to improve her reputation is repulsive.

Starryfifty · 24/10/2026 14:45

FancyKitten · 24/10/2026 14:43

Even if TM is guilty, that doesn’t mean he’s going be convicted. The whole case might be compromised by the MM factor, media interest…

Also, he's extremely ill. A trial may not happen

I would cut M some slack over dates.

My impression is that the clap backs by H&M are done quickly and Ms response to the original article was quick.

It is always a bad idea to write and then send any communication when angry or upset. Always sleep on it, have a critical friend check it etc. A good PR would have advised take your time and double check facts before issuing a statement.

The MIG know this which is why, recollections may vary, was about a perfect piece of comms as you can get. No one remembers what else was said but we all remember that and trot it out regularly with H&M but also for Charles Spencer. It has entered the lexicon of our language and is used about other situations including our own family, friends and work relationships. “Economical with the truth” from the spycatcher trial is a similar phrase.

Part of the problem appears to be H&M don’t take advice or don’t listen to advice. This is a common thread right from the beginning with M and I think H was fed up being “managed” by the MIG and welcomed the freedom of having his own voice. Sadly, this has backfired spectacularly.

If H & M have any sense they would go completely quiet and not brief the press, post on instagram etc. do any “public events” etc. This is what would be best for A&L too. I don’t think they will, but a total media blackout to allow the evidenced facts to come out would garner the most sympathy.

Yes, sympathy for M, no one would want to find out their Dad has been accused of having CSA images etc. No matter when she knew, the media storm about this is not something I would wish on anyone.

I would cut M some slack over dates.

If it was just 'dates' I'd agree. Although you'd wonder why someone who supposedly has her own 'office', complete with 'global press secretary' would not make sure to get the dates exactly right before issuing a statement on such an important matter.

But as I said above, it's not just 'dates'. It's an entirely different year, season and period in her life. You could easily get a date wrong. But this? And for such an important communication? I don't think so.

FancyKitten · 24/10/2026 14:43

Horses7 · 24/10/2026 14:33

I said earlier today on this thread (or another MM thread!!) that the timeline of all these events would come back to bite her.
I’m not convinced yet of Daddy Markles guilt - it just seems unbelievably convenient …..however I will believe it if the evidence is there! I’m not blinkered.
ATM I’m not inclined to believe the Sun, TM junior and especially MM (who doesn’t seem to know the truth on most things).
I’m waiting to see what is under the next stone before I make my mind up on this latest chapter.

Even if TM is guilty, that doesn’t mean he’s going be convicted. The whole case might be compromised by the MM factor, media interest…

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 24/10/2026 14:42

There are allegedly photos of Markle raping a child. How will you lot bend that to make it MM's fault, I wonder.

Given that they're 'allegedly' it might be a good idea to wait until it's confirmed it's him before throwing him even further under the wheels to protect his daughter's good name on here.

Would you care to address the discrepancies between the repeated reasons for her cutting him off and the reason she apparently continued contact for some time after her wedding?

And 'you lot'? who is that, exactly?

Starryfifty · 24/10/2026 14:42

She hasn't explained why she cut her father off. The allegations cannot be the reason now

SiegfriedSassoon · 24/10/2026 14:41

clarissadavenport · 24/10/2026 14:38

It was passed on to her. She assumed it had been passed on within the Met to the appropriate department and investigated,

But by all means get back to quibbling about the date of this letter and whether or not she had it in her luggage when she moved to the states or whatever nonsense you lot can come up with to divert and distract from the fact that her father has been confirmed by fresh sources with what seems a mountain of evidence now - as this letter claimed - to be a pedophile preying on children in the Philippines and Thailand.

Well if the rape happened after 2018, I can quite easily see how fingers will be pointing at her accusingly. It was in her power to protect children from further abuse. Any victims since 2018 are partly on her conscience. You may have a different moral code to me however.

Because everyone is in agreement about AMW. There’s no counter arguments put forward so there isn’t much to say is there?

read my post again. Is everyone in agreement about RF inaction about AMW?

well I guess at least HaM havent paid £12 mln to TMS victims to try to make it all go away, like it happened with RF and AMW/Guiffre

Have you read the (many) threads? Were you on them? I was. There’s huge criticism of how QEII dealt with this and how she fell in many posters’ estimation as a result. Same with other RF members who contributed and those who colluded in the whole Trade Envoy misjudgment eg various government ministers. Obviously the most criticism was reserved for Andrew. It’s still obviously unfinished business.

Kirschcherries · 24/10/2026 14:40

jeffgoldblum · 24/10/2026 14:17

so in other words she lied then!!! And the sun printed her lies without checking!!!
I’m sorry to be so blunt but I’m fed up with the use of watered down language to explain away the obvious facts from this couple! ……forgot….misunderstood…..confused…..memory loss due to time …..🙄

"She can hardly be held responsible for the timing of when the letter she passed on to the specialist Met Protection Unit was passed on inhouse or to where."

What you on about? The letter wasn't sent to her. It was sent to the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, a specialist Met unit.

Her spokespeople have already admitted that she got the date wrong.

Perhaps get some basic and widely reported facts right before you accuse others of being horrific. You could simply have read Meghan's own statement, in which she says that a Met unit showed her the letter in 2018.

I think if you are given bad news (a death, illness, potential criminal paedophile) you tend to remember where you were and when it happened. What is hard to recall is the mundane or routine. I struggle to remember or see the difference between one Christmas and another, but know exactly where I was when news came of the deaths of people I loved.

I don’t keep a diary. But then a public figure would have someone to keep their diary.

Covid is a good marker, isn't it? Was it before or after? As you say, births and deaths, receiving important news, good or bad. So Meghan can remember not being offered a lift by Kate, her not sharing the lipgloss, but she struggles to remember when she got information - shocking and distressing information - about her father?

Passingthroughagain · 24/10/2026 14:37

clarissadavenport · 24/10/2026 14:12

What a horrific cesspit this is.

It is indisputable that the letter she received exists.

Several journalists have gone on the record to state they have seen it.

She was advised to not talk about it, so as not to jeopardise any future legal proceedings.

She can hardly be held responsible for the timing of when the letter she passed on to the specialist Met Protection Unit was passed on inhouse or to where.

She never received the letter. It was sent directly to the Met and because it contained references to her security, it was passed to her and the Duke's office. So no, she's not responsible for the timing, but if she's going to release a statement, she should get HER timings straight. The Met received the letter six months after she claims to have first seen it. That's quite an error.

I'm sorry you dislike people questioning the facts, but MM is a habitual liar and her statement yesterday is another example.

FancyKitten · 24/10/2026 14:37

Justnot · 24/10/2026 12:59

If it was written by someone close to the family, there’s a whole back story there that will have coloured how it was considered - just more bits of the jigsaw puzzle missing

I am awe struck by the stupidity of releasing a statement without thinking through all the implications or even checking shit (playing Devils advocate, even if the Met were wrong, they could have checked all this before releasing a statement)

cross post with everyone else!

Maybe she was being wooed by people from the paper, but still she should know the British press better. Or at least Harry should…

Unless I am confused on dates (a distinct possibility with all the stories coming thick and fast) Meghan would still be in the RF fold and surrounded by staff - all she had to do was ask a staff member to find out what was happening to the letter (s) investigations etc - she did not have to do anything herself.

I get where you're coming from, readbutdonotpostoften, but given her attritude towards the MIGS would she really have wanted to consult them on anything?

Both Harry and Meg have great memories over every little detail and infraction of the RF…..but can’t rem the date of this?

They made a NF docu about things that happened up to 6 years earlier….but they can’t between them, remember when they got this devastating news?

Edited

It's not just the date. If she'd said she got the letter on the 19th September but it was actually 5th October that would be one thing.

But an entirely different year, season, period in her life? The difference between being a newly married newly minted royal to having already done royal tours and being pregnant with her first child? That's something else entirely.

We're only a day in and the whole story is starting to unravel. She really is an agent of chaos.

ilovemykindle · 24/10/2026 14:30

A long time ago I worked in a small office connected to the police and there were a lot of letters.
Each letter was stamped on receipt every day before it went to the relevant department.
Of course these were for driving offences so it might be different procedures for more serious offences.

I didn’t mention anything about the timing.
I wondered why they would bring paperwork from 8 (or 7) yrs ago to a furnished house -specifically this piece of paperwork.
I wondered why you think questioning that makes this place ‘a cesspit’.

Best avoid these threads if you don’t like them dearie.
