I agree if they had thought of it they could have made a load of noise away from their positions & created a distraction while one traitor did the puzzle - good hindsight strategy! They were clearly discombobulated.

I like the idea that some players have theories they are hiding even from the diary room.

Acaster did totally blouse the task but Kenny also kind of bloused the murder in plain sight. Did he spray and run away?

Yes, but TBF I don't think they were meant to spray and then immediately murder, were they? Surely by definition boring someone to death is a slightly longer process than that?
I didn't understand the inclusion of the perfume part of the task, actually. Did they just do it because they felt that it needed an image/object? And/or they were hoping that the faithfuls would spin all sorts of theories about the selection of perfume bottles in the castle, as they have in fact started doing?

The real question is, does he?

He has behaved in an unexpected and often ineffective way, fair enough. Other players then respond to that. Nothing is spoiled, I don't understand the anger.

'anger'?
That's a bit extreme.
You realise I was using the phrase with full knowledge that I'm talking about a TV show and not a politician declaring unfounded war, yes? ie in a fairly light way?

Within that context, he is behaving badly; he took an oath to act like a traitor ie participate in murdering and sabotaging.
Not to mention the endless going on about how much he hates being one.
But I'm not 'angry', not like I would be in the going-to-war scenario. I doubt the others on here expressing their feelings about James A are either.

😂 Some people on this thread are so OTT

AlwaysExtraHot · 23/10/2026 15:09

I'm not understanding.

I am aware that we're all watching a TV show and it's not life or death. I think other posters are too, the ones who are saying James A is rubbish, useless, wet etc. Are we not allowed to give our opinions of people's actions just because it's a TV show?
Similarly, I think we all know the oath is not an oath like the one doctors take, or someone appearing in court. But in the context of the show it's important, and so it is worth talking about.

If you look at earlier Traitors threads, there is plenty of discussion along these lines.

You're all coming across as a bit bullying, TBH, pointing and laughing.

I thought they did it like this so that they were confined to a particular room, rather than being able to wander around and find someone yawning and say the words. I wonder if they could have gone to different rooms and sprayed more than once, though! and whether the perfume actually smelled of anything particular (or particularly strong)

Also it was just one more element that the traitors had to do without anyone seeing them, both taking the bottle and spraying it (and hiding the bottle or replacing it afterwards), which adds to the risk of the mission

Yes. That’s casting. Like Alan Carr turning out to be an unexpectedly good traitor, after he’d presumably been selected originally for the comedic value. Like Richard E G turning out to be unexpectedly calamitous after they’d presumably selected him for the combination of mania and camp steeliness he expressed to Claudia in the ‘interview’. It didn’t work out.

Yes, both good points! I'd forgotten that they were worrying about which room to go to and who might come in/if no one might come in.

He took an oath.Grin

He’s not playing by the rules of the game.

He reminds me of my kids when they were younger. They couldn’t play board games without sulking if someone else got the cards/pieces of the game they wanted, and inevitably threw strops and ruined the game for everyone.

As a result, we stopped playing board games.

Joanne’s nails are her personal choice. Not my taste but not my nails. I assume many of them are cos dressing.
I hope she reflects on how abrasive and intimidating she was to Miranda though.
Miranda (who I’m not a big fan of) looked very subdued. It was uncomfortable to watch. If someone spoke to me like that, I’d be very upset and unsettled (and I am saying that as a regular listener of her podcast).

I think Maya was poor at the task as she didn’t understand it but she was also thrown by James A refusing to participate, Pity she didn’t tiptoe to him and make loads of noise!

Totally agree, and I don't know why that pp felt the need to mention the colour, although I agree with their opinion about her picking food out of her teeth while having a conversation <<heave>>

Shedmistress · 23/10/2026 16:10

Ideally they would have just swiped James' whole shield for the prize shield.

peckishcats · 23/10/2026 16:59

A person with autism finding a task difficult is not a disgrace.

Auspiciousminds · 23/10/2026 17:08

PuggyPuggyPuggy · 23/10/2026 12:21

Joanne totally bullied Miranda out of her theory with her psycho stare 😬

I'm actually wondering whether Miranda debunked her own theory because she realised that the noise she heard was from her other side and is now thinking about what to do about it.

I can't see her being easily intimidated. I do worry that Maya has realised this and therefore had Miranda murdered last night.

the80sweregreat · 23/10/2026 17:16

James A shouldn’t have put up a fight with REG and Maya and maybe bowed out gracefully ? He did a good speech , yet uncomfortable being a traitor.
Shows that the survival instinct kicks in regardless !

murasaki · 23/10/2026 17:18

I wonder if he's turned a corner given he admitted to enjoying the murder in plain sight. But then the challenge was after that, so maybe not.

I think Miranda's a gonner. To throw shade on Joanne.

I actually think she is easily intimidated. Her onscreen jokey laugh about her size slapstick thing is just that, she's spoken about being unwell both physically and mentally, and I think she's more fragile than we might think. And desperate for approval. Smart, definitely, but easily cowed I think.

Edited to add i wonder if she was bullied by the cool girls at school and Joanne gave her a flashback. Could be completely wrong, of course

Auspiciousminds · 23/10/2026 17:21

I thought the task was fairly difficult but not impossible. They had the perfect opportunity during the last round because 4 people had completed their shields. They could have taken a whole shield in one go and used that and would then have won the money. But it didn't look as though winning the money was their priority.

I kind of get why James A didn't want to move but he was wrong to just leave it to the other two. And not even taking his blindfold off was a step way too far for me.

I thought the same last night but then she kept talking to Leigh Ann about Joannne being a traitor, after the RT.

The traitors would be really stupid not to murder Miranda.

I think she suspects Joanne and Maya but when she mixed up her right side from
her left side, she knew she’d look foolish accusing one and then flipping to the other.

Recklessismymiddlename · 23/10/2026 17:27

If James had actually taken his blindfold off I wouldn’t have minded so much, I don’t think. He could have given direction a bit. But nothing . Nada. Just checked out. Not really playing the game imo.

I know we won’t know till it finishes but so far I don’t think this series has been a ‘success’ as some other series, have been. The bbc may talk it up, but I am not getting that vibe when talking to people. I also think could be to do with scheduling, as well as editing.

CaveMum · 23/10/2026 17:34

Well at this rate we are going to need a new thread before the end of tonight’s episode! I shall have one on standby, again.

@Auspiciousminds They were only allowed to take 2 pieces each round. Obviously not helped by Maya putting two pieces back in the troughs.

James is getting a lot of stick on this thread, but why is no-one raging about the fact that she fucked it up by not understanding the rules. If she hadn't messed up, the final round would have been much less daunting for them.

Reason or not, calling a ND person (or indeed anyone else) a 'f...king disgrace' for not attempting a task on a telly show is taking things way too far.

Really? Not been on MN long? Using swear words is fairly common on here. Others have said they think he's being an obstructive dick, rubbish and a treacherous little prick, plus telling him to 'Fuck off James A'.
Are those giving you a cats'-bum-mouth too?
