Page 4 | Wedding attire - is this ok?

Hi, I have never been great at clothes. I often seem to get things slightly wrong. I am 56, 5' 6 and a size 18 currently (bloody menopause). We are going to a wedding in a two weeks time (family member) and the invite says "Dress to Impress". I am not that confident in myself at this weight but I do care what I look like. I can no longer wear heels so shoes need to be flats. Can anyone with advise me if they think this is a good combination. Thanks!

Thank you. I think you’re right. I rarely wear jewelry apart from rings but my sister is always telling me to wear more.

You don't have to some women love jewellery and love the "statement " of jewellery which is great, but it doesn't have to be your thing .

As a fellow flats-wearer (can also no longer wear heels after an op) I think the dress is the absolute perfect length and that your shoe choice is great! Don’t be swayed by people suggesting a low or block heel - funky but elegant flats like these are far cooler. There’s something a bit aging about clinging to heels - especially a low block one.

I must admit I do look at shoes with a block heel and think they look very frumpy. I love the ones I have chosen, I have been hankering after them for absolute yonks to go with a different dress, which is sadly too small for me at the moment. But then buying the new dress I thought they would work with that one as well so finally I had a reason to buy them.

I think it is lovely but then I now dont understand the comments and negativity I got on my own thread about my attire.

That is a white background dress with colourful flowers on it.

I made my own thread about wearing a white background dress woth colourful flowers on it to a gay civil partnership reception involving 2 grooms. I who was told in no uncertain terms that I could not wear a white dress even one covered in coloured flowers, even pairing it with a not white coloured jacket, so you would only see the skirt of the dress, because I would be usurping the grooms, and people might think I was the bride and congratulate me randomly?!

Pleased to see you haven't got similar comments and i'm assuming there will actually be a female bride there.

Maybe I'll just wear the damn dress anyway, seeing as people have told you, it's okay.And I think your dress is okay and lovely

I actually hid the thread because I was upset and I made some acerbic comments there which i'm not proud of.

I love the dress (am considering a Katya Wildman dress when I am mother of the bride next year) and those shoes, in that colour, are absolutely perfect 👌. I would go with those even if I could wear heels. You will look fabulous.

The model in the photo is Katya Wildman herself. She's 5'4" tall. I've got a couple of her dresses (used to be Bombshell London) and they are super flattering with clever cutting and features for a perfect fit.

I think the dress looks fab.

I have a few pairs of Air and Grace shoes and I love them. I struggle with heels too and find the A&G flats really dressy.
