Wedding attire - is this ok?

Hi, I have never been great at clothes. I often seem to get things slightly wrong. I am 56, 5' 6 and a size 18 currently (bloody menopause). We are going to a wedding in a two weeks time (family member) and the invite says "Dress to Impress". I am not that confident in myself at this weight but I do care what I look like.

I have ordered this dress:

And these shoes:

https://airandgracelondon.com/collections/flat-shoes/products/anais-olive-suede-and-gold-leather-pointed-t-bar-flats

I intend to wear a double-layered gold necklace (Mint Velvet) and have ordered a suede olive green clutch bag. I can no longer wear heels so shoes need to be flats.

Can anyone with advise me if they think this is a good combination.

Thanks!

The 'Always' Zip Pocket Dress in 'Charlotte's Roses'

Huge thumbs up!!

(edited because my phone put the word ‘hi’ in😅)

I think the dress and shoes look lovely together. Lots of outfits posted on here don't but these do. I don't think it could be described as a predominantly white dress or remotely bridal.

Love it! I do object to people decreeing stuff like "dress to impress", though...there are people who just can't afford it. Still, each to her own.

I think the dress looks fab.

I have a few pairs of Air and Grace shoes and I love them. I struggle with heels too and find the A&G flats really dressy.

Hope you enjoy the wedding 😍

Absolutely fabulous 👌

Lovely, thé dress is gorgeous and the shoes are really beautiful and stylish, such a well thought out outfit

dont know what you mean about not being good at clothes and getting them “slightly wrong” but it made me a bit sad, it’s not a maths test, there aren’t right or wrong answers, taste is subjective! ❤️ hope you have a lovely time and feel fab xx

I’ve been thinking a lot about these A&G shoes recently - do report back on how comfy they are!

Will do, someone up thread said they’re really comfortable.

I think it's a beautiful outfit, but see how the length looks when it's on. You may find that having it shortened slightly makes you look taller, especially as you can't wear heels. Ballerina length on a model is often too long for us smaller rounder women.

The model in the photo is Katya Wildman herself. She's 5'4" tall. I've got a couple of her dresses (used to be Bombshell London) and they are super flattering with clever cutting and features for a perfect fit.

The whole outfit is lovely OP. You'll impress for sure.

I must admit I do look at shoes with a block heel and think they look very frumpy. I love the ones I have chosen, I have been hankering after them for absolute yonks to go with a different dress, which is sadly too small for me at the moment. But then buying the new dress I thought they would work with that one as well so finally I had a reason to buy them.

yeah, i'd be very happy if someone wore this to my wedding
:)

I love the dress (am considering a Katya Wildman dress when I am mother of the bride next year) and those shoes, in that colour, are absolutely perfect 👌. I would go with those even if I could wear heels. You will look fabulous.

@WeddingDressguest thank you. I'm sure you'll look lovely.

I found the thread. I think because you used the words "predominantly white dress" in the title most people just hooked onto that. Despite you saying it would have colourful embroidery on it. Also there was no picture. Perhaps if you post again with a picture you might get different responses. Also from what you have said, you are not going to be mistaken for a bride at that wedding so it should be absolutely fine.

Thank you. I can't face posting the dress in case I get savage comments but I am pleased to see yours got lovely comments and it is a beautiful dress.

I can't see that thread at the moment - not sure it is just a temporary error. I will see if I can find it via search - I'm intrigued now!

@WeddingDressguest Oh, that sounds strange. Do you have a link to your thread please?

I actually hid the thread because I was upset and I made some acerbic comments there which i'm not proud of.

I managed to find it and here it is.

There are some additional comments on there. That I haven't read and don't want to.

Love the dress and shoes together.. would check the jewellery when on ...think you'll want something to make the most of open collar.... But not too bulky

Thank you, someone else upthread said the same, I think you are right, I think I am just going to wear a small rose gold necklace maybe.
