Why so much hate on MN?

614 replies

@MNHQ
Why so much hate on MN?
Posters hiding behind complaints about the government, presenting themselves as reasonable actors, to push hate about asylum seekers, people with disabilities, benefit claimants..Mostly the same names all day everyday.
I am told to report - MN just not interested.
I am told to hide the thread..
Why isn't moderation better?
I know this will always exist and exists on other platforms but MN makes no effort to even try to anything about it.
You can't really sell MN as a caring, supportive site with all this stuff offered on a daily basis in active.

No idea what you mean there. Sure it’s positive as ever ;

Hope it's not something hateful.

No idea. Maybe some BlueSky nonsense.

Are you calling another nation's language "nonsense"?

EasternStandard · 22/09/2026 21:35

I didn’t look it up in case it was an attack. If it’s a pleasant and happy term then great.

Your posts maybe 🤷‍♀️ if people want to post in other languages they can, it won’t always be translated by the reader.

Oh come on. An awful lot of people wouldn’t recognise that as Irish. I only know it from Derry Girls and I’m of Irish descent.

I just assumed an insult and didn’t bother to know more.

It's goodbye in Irish, with connotations of wishing someone safety. As you could have found out with a quick Google...

Which says more about you than about the poster who just said goodbye. I recognised it as Irish and I'm Dutch!

Fair enough, but best not to call their language "nonsense" without checking.

Nos da. 🌙

I’m not checking stuff on here. If it’s an insult it’ll just annoy and I don’t have the appetite for that.

Great if it’s not.

Ah yes. Disagreeing with you and correctly identifying languages means mental illness. You couldn't make it up.

Labelling another language "nonsense" is a bit narrow minded, but a sign of MH issues? No. Don't be soft.

You don't think Schlossadler's post was ridiculous? Fair enough.

Anyway, it is too early to be arguing on MN and probably not good for one's MH. I am off out for a walk and a ☕️

I think calling posters narrow minded is no help. But good idea.

Good thing I didn't call any posters that then. Now I really am off.
