From a male perspective...

Can we have a new board where men can come and mansplain, moan about their wife, tell us what an awful woman an ex is and just spout general misogyny.

I'm sure the women of Mumsnet always value hearing men's opinions so having them in one place would make it easier to find these gems of wisdom.

Hello @Gingerkittykat Thanks for posting.

This thread reminded me of this absolute gem...

Men are welcome to post, provided they follow the Talk guidelines like everyone else. We haven’t identified a shortage of male perspectives on the internet that requires a new board...

We would, however, ask male posters to appreciate that Mumsnet is a rare corner of the internet where women remain the majority. That’s something people value, and for good reason. Joining the conversation with a willingness to listen, as well as contribute, goes a long way while arriving to explain women to the women usually goes down like a cup of cold sick.

If you see posts you think break the guidelines please report them and we’ll take a look.

Thank you so much for posting that link.
It's a very good thread indeed. Aren't we lucky to have men available to explain hard things to us.

tumblerforwine · 21/09/2026 10:58

I know exactly what they can do with their opinions, mansplaining and misogyny.
But then again it is funny when they arrogantly post it on here and get piled on and torn to shreds when they didn’t see it coming.
If we keep doing it we can weed them out.

I am everything you hate about people on the internet. I am here to help. | Mumsnet

I am male, mid 20's and grew up with this technology. Wondering what something means? Wondering how to do something? Wondering how your kids did so...

I’m not keen on the “my wife doesn’t want sex” posts, but to say that men can’t post generally is unpleasant.

I am aware of several posters who are single parent
men or 2 dad families. Why on earth shouldn’t we they be allowed to post?

I do like that this is a rare women dominated space, it it is also a hugely valuable parenting resource- probably even more so for dads who don’t have a female partner to provide that prospectus, but I don’t see a massive “man here” influx. Rather, the opposite, men are saying they are outside the norm so almost apologising for that.

anyway, I prefer it to the “I asked dh and he said” posts.

You can be assured they are not apologising for being a man on here, more likely territory marking...

Ahh I get it. You were just scolding us wims rather than being serious. Now I can ignore you knowing you have nothing useful to add.

Btw, where have I said all blokes are incels? 🙄 (Rhetorical question).

Wims 🤢

INeedAnotherName · 20/09/2026 20:00

LuckyHazelFox · 20/09/2026 19:03

That's the civil starting point isn't it. That's why there are forum rules. You're presuming all blokes who post on here are incels? Like I said do what you want.

Lonelycrab · 20/09/2026 19:43

Misandry alive and well I see, as ever, here.

“by parents, for parents” is the tag line of this forum and website. Men are also parents, single parents often too, trying the best they can.

Can any of you imagine a (male dominated) site that says : women not welcome?

No, of course not. That would be awful/illegal and technically not possible to implement.

If a man (shock horror) starts a post..
”man here/male perspective here”..
absolutely pull him up on it,

But to suggest men shouldn’t post here isn’t really feasible is it.

LuckyHazelFox · 20/09/2026 16:24

Opinions should be valued no matter who is espousing them. There already seems to be informal mods on here, who want to censor other people's opinions and then go running off to another forum to slag off MN's users. I thought everyone was welcome. Is it a good idea to single any group out?

Exactly! Amazingly, a lot of us on here have sons as well as daughters, and want everyone's questions/opinions valued equally, regardless of sex.

Theresmagicwheretheflowersgrow · 20/09/2026 16:22

Oh yes, a special place where those posts we all love beginning "Man here" can go.

Or “Hello ladies”.

EmailsaysOOO · 20/09/2026 19:26

I think the logo for Mumsnet is meant to be for parents so that would include men. I don't know why they need to be a special caste

We know.

If you'd read the thread you'd see that it's been mentioned several times.

It hadn't been linked, though.

MyManinCaracas · 20/09/2026 19:18

Sure, I would love to troll those threads.

NewGoldFox · 20/09/2026 19:03

Always makes me chuckle when they throw their two cents in. Like women are posting to MUMSnet looking for men’s opinions.

A thread today where the OP thinks his wife was unreasonable to be upset that his wife was upset over a relationship with a much younger female colleague.

If I want a man's perspective I'll ask my DH, DB or Dman on the street. I come to mumsnet to get a woman's perspective.

Which is exactly why you need the alert that the person posting is a man. It is not possible for prevent men posting and some people do like seeing a man’s pov. With the information that the poster is a man, you can ignore it and move on. The rest of us can read it.

The point I was responding to was not about whether or not men should post but that some people like to read a man’s perspective and wish to know that the poster is a man. As you don’t want to read anything that a man writes, you agree with me that it’s useful to know if the poster is male.

FannybygaslightinGovan · 20/09/2026 17:15

HoppityBun · 20/09/2026 17:10

I do, too. Plus I think saying “man here” is fine because the assumption otherwise is that posters are women. It’s just giving an alert that what follows is from a man. You can ask for different words, but “man here” is short and to the point.

But, I have to admit that I am not a mother, so…🤷‍♀️
