purple, when I changed it last night I got the request email with the link immediately, followed by the change confirmation email. The email this afternoon says I have requested a password change which I haven't so am a bit concerned someone has tried with old password and requested a reset.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 20/08/2015 19:31

I logged off and ordered a password reset from my iphone last night and never received a mail. I did it just now from my laptop and the email came through instantly.

Could this mean theres something up with my iphone browser/ dodginess of some kind? I use my phone alot to browse the boards but am not keen on putting my brand new and shiny password into it if its likely it has been compromised... anyone got any advice/ info on this?

thanks and Gin

Can't wait until Jeffrey is found and unmasked the twunt. Did Mumsnet Wendy him and this is his revenge?

00100001 · 20/08/2015 19:26

doggers I doubt it very much! :)

OneLittleLady · 20/08/2015 19:21

i will request a reset as soon as I am able to. i'm on the hop right now with finishing off something really important. ugggh, this is just the biggest most boring time consuming ballache

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/08/2015 19:18

onelittlelady Change your password via the site rather than via email link? (And check URL when you do)

the email looks legit although it does say 'passwords are like underwear, should be changed often and never shared' which i wouldn't expect and i've looked on the official website and there's nothing i can see about it on there

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2015 19:12

Did it go through straight away mrsmcgregor? Mine took a few goes to change and one of the email links was so slow to arrive that I'd already successfully changed my password. I hope that makes sense!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/08/2015 19:11

Is the email definitely legit? Have a look at their website and see if they say anything?

StrattersDairyProductPervert · 20/08/2015 19:11

Pointless trying to swat me, it would take the swat team hours to get here. It would be a total non event.

unlucky83 · 20/08/2015 19:11

Fleur maybe twitter are giving Jeffrey enough rope?

OneLittleLady · 20/08/2015 19:09

has anyone else today received an email from a popular train company asking you to change your password to something more secure? i am concerned that even though i wasnt on 'the list' my email may have been compromised for various reasons and i'm very unsure about trusting any links or anything coming to my email right now

MrsMcGregor · 20/08/2015 19:08

I had a 'you have requested a password reset' email from Mumsnet at 1620 this pm ... I didn't try to change my password today. Does this mean someone is trying to access my account?

Changed pw around 11pm last night when it was forced.

RaspberryOverload · 20/08/2015 19:08

I've got more than one email address, so I've now set up 2-step verification for all of them.

EasyFromNowOn · 20/08/2015 18:59

MrsC - the visit history works off your cookies, so it is basically saying that the cookie the brower is using to remember you and your previous visits here was set on July 26th - this could be because you deleted your old cookies then, or this was the first time you visited the site after you had last deleted your cookies.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 20/08/2015 18:55

no right clicked on page - inspect element and it throwing up 10errors and 1warning.

TheFormidableMrsC · 20/08/2015 18:54

Fleurdelise, thank you for responding Flowers. I have noticed neither, I am going to go out and come back in again and check. I most definitely had the http thing and padlock before, just not today.

GammonAndEgg · 20/08/2015 18:52

Has the new app gone now? Mine is completely blank.

Hassled · 20/08/2015 18:49

All DadSec really had to do to make whatever point it is they're trying to make is post that creepy fucking clown man thing a few times. That would have put the wind up us. Like Ashes to Ashes, except scarier. Maybe Jeffrey is Gene Hunt? Have the police run a search on all Audi Quattro owners?

Pneumometer · 20/08/2015 18:47

"As a fairly sizeable website that holds masses of personal data (even if it isn't addresses and phone numbers)"

Mumsnet's data protection registration (Z1255016) makes interesting reading. It appears that they believe that nothing about users is personally identifiable within the meaning of the act (indeed, the registration doesn't appear to cover Talk at all). I've been a data controller in my youth and I suspect I'd have made the same judgement in 2008 when the registration was made, but the past is another country.

msgrinch · 20/08/2015 18:46

It's so glitchy. Though that's probably just my Internet.

Fleurdelise · 20/08/2015 18:46

Formidable I could remember the same "padlock" but I wasn't sure if it was always there. I have just checked, when I log on (entering my pw) there is a padlock, after that is gone.

I guess is the http/https explanation above. Smile

thenumberseven · 20/08/2015 18:43

On my gmail I also get error but like a pp messages do get through

Pico2 · 20/08/2015 18:41

As a fairly sizeable website that holds masses of personal data (even if it isn't addresses and phone numbers), I'm surprised that external security experts have been brought in too late, rather than as a preventative measure.
