It really does depend on your council.
For DC1, we got our email at 00:01 - which was a relief as I couldn't sleep anyway

For Bucks (this is 3 years ago), I received an email about 11am confirming our offer, and then needed to log onto the portal to accept.

Magnificentkitteh · 23/02/2026 10:10

If I recall correctly it did appear on the portal a little earlier than the email arrived but I only know that because I was obsessively checking after people started to hear

^ This is how it works where we are too but as local authorities run it I think it can vary depending on where you are. I’m sure last year some people were still waiting to hear in the afternoon.

Thank you both. So we wait to hear from them rather than us having to log on to anything? Good to know, thanks.

Magnificentkitteh · 23/02/2026 08:22

In London I'm pretty sure they don't email until 5pm.

Is anyone on here going to the Latymer welcome event on Wednesday?

The council send you an email. Then the school sends you another email explaining how to confirm your place. I think it was around 8 or 9 in the morning for primary places but can't remember exactly.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Do people know what happens on allocation day next Monday and how we actually find out which school? Thanks.

Plumbernightmare · 13/02/2026 16:14

Thinking of you @DolphinOnASkateboard

Pipsquiggle · 13/02/2026 12:03

Good luck to all Bucks SR folks.
I am crossing my fingers 🤞🏼 for you.

...and, to reiterate, I'm very much expecting the worst as his score was just too low on the day. Which just makes me loathe the whole system as his results through six years of primary school have been exceptional, but everything I've read suggests that counts for very little.

Magnificentkitteh · 13/02/2026 07:57

Good luck today Dolphin. Everything crossed for you.

Thanks everyone... We've been promised an email "after 4pm" so let's wait and see. If it's good news I'll pop back and let you all know. If not, I'll be busy opening a bottle of something.

South Hampstead emails are coming now

Bucks selection review result is due at the end of this week, Friday the 13th, FFS. I seem to have spent a lot of the past six months waiting - waiting for the test, waiting for the result, waiting for the review... Should it be successful we'll be 99% sure of which secondary he's going to. If not, and I'm not hopeful, we'll then have yet another wait for national offer day to roll around.

Remember you from the other thread - best of luck @DolphinOnASkateboard .

Pipsquiggle · 10/02/2026 06:44

Fingers crossed for you @DolphinOnASkateboard

I know a few going through SR and it's been a long old wait.

Oh, good luck, Dolphin!

TeaandHobnobs · 09/02/2026 21:01

Crossing everything for you @DolphinOnASkateboard!
I’m so sorry about your mum @Magnificentkitteh 💐

Magnificentkitteh · 09/02/2026 16:04

Good luck Dolphin. I was thinking about that when February rolled around as I remembered that's what you said.

It's been quite a 6 months hasn't it? Sadly my mum died just before Christmas (if you remember she was unwell around the time of the tests, though luckily we got those out of the way before everything took a turn for the worse). So it feels bittersweet that I won't get to tell her the final outcome for DD, but she knew that it was either going to be Latymer or Henrietta Barnett. We should find out on national offer day but I suppose there's a world in which she's on a waiting list after that. We'll be happy with either though so pretty relaxed now. Next stop: 6th form choices for dd1.

Hi all, not sure if anyone still uses this page, but I’ve started a little FB about surviving the 11+ from a parent’s point of view. It’s called Tea, Tears and the 11+ and it’s full of honest stories, tips, and the occasional panic-induced tea spill.

It's a place for parent's to vent and know they're not alone.

You won’t see my real name anywhere — that way I can be completely honest about the ups, downs, and ridiculous moments of the process.

Does anyone know when the local appeal (is that what’s it’s called) outcomes will be released for Stretford and Urmston?

I heard Stretford review came out yesterday! hope it was good news for your friend.

I wonder what state the Korean version of Mumsnet is in right now...

I got a headache just reading the first question!

BdayQ · 10/12/2025 09:46

IsThatYouPam · 10/12/2025 09:42

@BdayQ Ah that's annoying. But yes, if you're successful you receive a 334R mark and you are in the same boat as someone who passed with full marks in terms of getting a place! So if your friend is within catchment for Stretford they will be fine 😊

Thank you, they will be very relieved if it hopefully goes their way. So grateful we aren’t having to go through it, I don’t think my nerves could take it!
