Should they be lucky enough to be holding multiple offers by the end of all this, is there anyone who anticipates real difficulty deciding between schools? We have applied to a mixed bag (all have pros which would suit our son - and cons, of course - no perfect schools!) so it feels like we’re comparing apples with pears. I’m going to need to get a spreadsheet going, I think.

@LondonMum20222 thanks!

@LondonMum20222 no pb we are waiting on lu, g&l, phs, whs, FH and Henrietta barnett

That's a great list of schools still in the offing. Keeping everything crossed for you!

1forward2back · 04/02/2023 12:04

@EweCee i think you said you have all your offers now - well done! Where are you choosing between? A scholarship really does make a lot of difference!

mootwo · 04/02/2023 11:54

@Anno7 - we got our surbiton pack today 🙂

QuiteAJourney · 04/02/2023 11:34

@HerbertChops Congratulations! Sounds like a successful end of the process for you!

@Anno7 we’re waiting too, hope it comes today as will have scholarship outcome included which will be a deciding factor for us.

Anno7 · 04/02/2023 11:06

Congrats all- so lovely to hear news!

Has anyone with a Surbiton offer got it in the post this morning? Post hasn’t come yet but don’t know whether to expect the pack today or not

HerbertChops · 04/02/2023 11:04

We have an offer from Halliford in the post this morning. It’s our top choice so very happy.

Morning, I just wondered if anyone knew of DC getting invited for an academic interview at Emanuel? On their website under changes to the application process it sounds as though some students were going to be offered an academic interview that included not only the group activity but also an meeting with staff from the English and Maths Dept. I just haven’t heard of any DC going through this scholarship process so wondered if it was only for a very small number of DC?

see quote from website below:

‘Those pupils who do well enough in the exams to be considered for an academic scholarship will take part in a slightly different interview process that will also include a small group experience. As well as a general interview, they will also meet with a member of the English and the Maths department.’

@89fomveg I haven't heard of anyone.

@Lolakath19 Ah, I'm sorry if I missed that update earlier in the thread. What schools are you waiting on next week?

Lolakath19 · 04/02/2023 10:50

@LondonMum20222 it was not but we knew it.. my dd did not go to the interview curious to see if they updated anyone else

LondonMum20222 · 04/02/2023 10:48

@Lolakath19 I hope it was good news.... 🤞

Last year some people were able to find out before email were out for a few schools..

Lolakath19 · 04/02/2023 10:41

On the dashboard page you can see the status of application for example applied and then the date sept 28 (shows last time it has been updated). It can move to declined / offered

Daydreamscometrue · 04/02/2023 10:39

@Lolakath19 a few schools use those accounts. What changes on the portal to indicate an offer? Curious as I've been checking mine for another school.

Lolakath19 · 04/02/2023 10:33

Morning all. For those that applied to spgs did you check into your open apply account to see if the status had been updated? Mine was yesterday you might found it before the email comes!

Daydreamscometrue · 04/02/2023 10:19

@QuiteAJourney it would have been lovely to have heard from Ibstock before the 10th but that's not looking likely.

Daydreamscometrue · 04/02/2023 10:17

@kittybloom thanks for the intel re KGS. It's really important to manage expectations so this is useful to know. My only experience of a waiting list place was some years ago at City boys. That never ended up being a place despite repeated phone calls.

QuiteAJourney · 04/02/2023 10:06

@Nottoolongtogo Many thanks, really useful to get confirmation.

@kittybloom noted on the WL being a "maybe". Hopefully, even if WL, there will be (more) movement (this year). And congrats on the Surbiton High offer!

Morning. Long time lurker here. I've become addicted to this thread over time. My DD has an offer from Surbiton High and is delighted! We only applied for two schools (so against the tide of this thread which has stressed me out at times!) and we await to hear from KGS next Friday which is where older DC is. Surbiton is our preference though but KGS is a fantastic school and I'm happy to share my experience of it.

Couple of points which I hope help people:

Ibstock offers - my memory from older DC a couple of years ago is that these came out the last Friday before half term by post (prob post and email now) and on the same day as KGS. So I would expect Friday 10 Feb.

KGS offers - I know there has been a lot of discussion that if your child proceeds to interview then it is a least WL and if general interview then v.likely to get an offer. I really hope that is true for us all. I just wanted to balance expectations and mention that in my older DC year, there was a lovely child from the same school who had a general interview but got WL only and the child was never offered off the waiting list (the mum was v.keen on the school and I know regularly chased up and expressed her interest). It was all fine, child very happy at another school mentioned on this thread. So a general interview may well mean a WL offer which doesn't convert (sorry).

Nottoolongtogo · 04/02/2023 09:55

Ibstock is definitely letters sent out on 9th, with an email sent on the 10th. A while back I was double checking websites for any more clarity of dates beyond ‘early Feb’ and noted it down at the time in the spreadsheet! Good luck all!!
