We are anxiously waiting for Epsom today as it is our favourite. Constantly refreshing! Need to focus on work but it’s difficult!

good luck to all those waiting for results x

I’m not convinced anything will come today from Epsom, especially given the school is shut now?

HerbertChops · 08/02/2023 09:46

I did all this a few years ago and my ds got a waitlist that turned into an offer the evening the state schools came out. Lots here in SW wait for Tiffin. We applied for two schools this year, two offers, have accepted our favourite and let the other one know this week. I know quite a few in this area who already have a few offers and know for definite one or two they won’t opt for but they’re not releasing any yet. Can’t understand it myself, what’s the point? Don’t really even understand applying for schools you would never consider sending dc to. I’m an ex-Tiffin Girl, the 11+ process was so completely different in the 90s, it’s really quite bonkers now.

Ilikelists · 08/02/2023 09:35

Leh made it sound as if most girls invited to an interview will get an offer or waitlist. If she made second round at leh she will def get a spot at St George’s.

@Gumps , if your dd got to second stage LEH she should get at least a WL from St G's. Girls have more choice in the Twickenham / Surrey area so I'm sure you will be fine. Keep positive!

Gumps · 08/02/2023 08:50

Waiting on St George's and LEH here. Didn't realise I had picked the two schools with the latest offer date 😩I believe St George's email tomorrow and LEH post tomorrow and email Friday. We aren't private school or bust but I keep questioning myself as to whether I should have sat her for more schools. However she disliked Surbition and the other just weren't the right fit. Two brothers at Hampton adds an extra layer of pressure. Has anyone experienced siblings getting into schools whilst other siblings didn't? I know I have given them the same opportunities but it will be very tough for her if she doesn't get any offers.

Nordicmom · 08/02/2023 08:44

Ok thanks , I know Saint George’s said they’ll post on Thu and the other said posting Fri , emailing Sat so I’ll just wait then grrrr .

Can someone tell me please how these portal things work ?

Some schools have you register with a portal and they update that before they send emails out. Two out of the four schools we applied to uses portals.

Saint George’s Weybridge sends tomorrow I think

cerealchange · 08/02/2023 08:14

We are WL for PH. Haven't told DD yet as waiting to hear from Epsom as that's number one choice. And have warned her that might not come today for obvious reasons

SamPoodle123 · 08/02/2023 08:06

The wait continues! I cannot wait until Friday!! Any schools plan to send emails today or tomorrow? Good luck to everyone!

PS I plan to check FHSS portal today and tomorrow 😂If anyone sees portal updates, please let everyone here know.

I’m late to the party but I had one child applying to universities and the other doing 11+ simultaneously so it’s been awfully stressful . DD has gotten 2/2 that sent offers so far but we’re on tender hooks here for the remaining 2 end of this week . One of them is our top choice . We initially registered and looked around 6 but had to forget about Epsom because of Sat school and distance and the other didn’t do deferred places after all so we only did exams to 4 in the end . Going a bit mental by now . We have never had to do this process before since DS 18 did 7+ back in the day to SPJ and Kings and has been at SPS ever since . Thankfully he just got his final answer from a uni and will hopefully be going to Imperial C provided the exams go ok . He’s predicted much higher grades than the offer is so should work out . Lots of hard work ahead of him until summer still but at least this bit is done . We recently moved out of SW London so all plans with DD senior schools had to change . I was always thinking of the SPGS ,G&L ,LU etc . We decided go for a deferred place and she’s actually moving only in y9 so can have 4 y at the current school . I don’t know any of these schools, our top choice I have friends child in , DH liked it and everything I’ve seen and read has been positive . The others are based on mainly DH research from the large list her current school gave .
FX for lots of offers all around and I’m so happy we’ll never have to do this again since only have 2 kids !

Out of interest, did everyone whose DD’s got through to round 2 / Athena assessment of PHS either get an offer or WL? I’m asking out of interest because that is the way it would seem from the posts on MN.

All of the girls at our prep school who got through to the second round got places.

Eighthour · 07/02/2023 22:29

Crossed wires - I was referring to Reeds not PHS

Yarnie · 07/02/2023 21:25

Congratulations and commiserations where appropriate. Oh, the waiting is hard. I’m glad I didn’t have to go through this with my eldest, and that I don’t have any other children!

QuiteAJourney · 07/02/2023 20:31

I think that their comment might have been about Reed's (there was a parallel conversation on it)

Ah yes, I think you are right.

Bromptonmum · 07/02/2023 20:33

Ah I see. I missed that as I was scanning through the messages.

@Peppermintblue I’m really sorry to hear that and really hope you get some good news coming through by the end of the week. It is a knock to get a ‘no’ from your top choice (I know!) and whilst it feels awful at the time, it WILL work out for the best in the end.

No offer for us unfortunately, and no waiting list. Super disappointing as this was our first choice

One person commented previously (peppermint) they did not get a WL or offer. However, they did not respond when asked further if their status was still applied. So can not be sure.

Nobody has come up but I suppose that there is a self-selection bias ... people feel more inclined to share good news rather than bad.

IMHO this question is non sense and a child in a non 11+ context will just respond I want the same school as my friend..

Yes, or some kids might just respond to each school they interview at that they are they first choice. Pointless questions. A better question would be to ask "what do you like about our school? or what interests you about our school?"
