A small fluffy bundle...

purplewerepidj · 10/10/2011 20:21

I walk to work (about 10 minutes) and this morning spotted a small fluffy bundle on top of a wall. I didn't really have time to check it out, but it played on my mind all day.

I checked it out on the way home, and it's a dead cat Sad I work shifts (which is why I'm posting 12 hours after I first saw it) and have tomorrow off. I need advice on what to do:

a) Nothing
b) Go back with a cardboard pet carrier and rubber gloves and contact the local vet in the morning
c) Call the emergency vet and/or some kind of local council department

I don't think I'm heartless enough for option a. I was incredibly grateful to the stranger who took my cat to the vet when he was run over even though he didn't pull through. Option b seems logical but I would have to store it in the dustbin as I don't really want it in the house, but that seems disrespectful. Option c might be the proper way to do things, but I'd like to know that the owner knew what had happened.

I don't have dc's so am free to go with the MN verdict! Thank you Thanks

And it's going back into Active Convos again after being linked to from this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/a1333307-Thing-I-Read-on-Mumsnet-That-Still-Make-Me-Laugh-Even-Years-Later#28242581

True classic! Love it. Well done Pidj :) and Thanks for the giggle.

Bumping into active convos.

Funniest thing I've read in ages!

OctonautsOnRepeat · 20/10/2011 09:41

So....does that mean someone is wondering why you stole their toy cat? Grin

You are a kind-hearted person Purple.

LizaTarbucksNonSmokingAuntie · 12/10/2011 08:02

You are a legend, just for coming back and sharing the ending.

I'm still chuckling this morning, but trying to work out how to tell the story without it sounding like it wa sme.

err right, there was this woman on...... err the internet.....

wompoopigeon · 11/10/2011 19:37

Thank you. I have had such a shit day at work and this has made me guffaw out loud.
You sound like a lovely person. A loon obviously, but a lovely one.

purpleknittingmum · 11/10/2011 19:30

So you handed in the black bin bag to the vet? I can just imagine them opening the bag all tentatively, waiting to hold their breath for the smell etc. They must have been on the floor in hysterics! :o :o Brilliant!!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 11/10/2011 17:29

(as a member of the profession I can almost guarantee that Purple!)

purplewerepidj · 11/10/2011 17:27

My Mum has a fake orchid flower that she keeps in the real orchid pot so there is always a bloom. Fools most folk Grin

The cat is being dealt with by the vet

Raahh - my DH was looking after his mum's plants when she was ill and diligently watered an artificial leopard lily. (It was quite realistic - from a distance.)

So, purple - who gets the cat? Can it be resurrected with a few AA batteries? Grin

purplewerepidj · 11/10/2011 17:13

Seashells, I did suggest to the nice vet lady that it would make a good anecdote for the next conference she attends Grin

Oldest, I bloody hope so!

Raahh, I'm soooooooooooo glad it's not just me Blush

This is so funny- made my day.Grin

I shared it with DH- the man who looked after a bonsai tree for 6 months, not at all concerned that it didn't grow (they are meant to be small, after allHmm).

It was plastic.

I've had a dreadful day - this has made me laugh my socks off. Nice work, purplewerepidj.

Hope you get the job; karma should reward you for your kind-heartedness.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 11/10/2011 16:39

Grin oh that is superb...you will go down in folklore at that practice :) :)

SephreniaRidesABroomstick · 11/10/2011 16:32

This is absolutely priceless purple. I'm so glad it wasn't a zombie cat Grin

HazeltheMcWitch · 11/10/2011 16:06

Arrrrggghhhhh. You're not an MR-er. I don't even know what one of those is. I obvs meant MN-er...

HazeltheMcWitch · 11/10/2011 16:06

At the beginning of the thread I was thinking that you're a very kind-hearted MR-er. I'd be very grateful for anyone who helped my cats out at the end.

And now? Now I think you're a slightly short-sighted, but still very kind, erm plonker. That is too funny although I can imagine how it would happen.

Well done you anyway.

MmeLindor. · 11/10/2011 15:59

hehehehe

You are my favourite MNetter. How could you not notice that it was a toy?

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 11/10/2011 15:51

hahahahahahaha Grin

purplewerepidj · 11/10/2011 15:42

I'm still giggling three hours later Shock

DNephew was given a ginger FurReal cat last Christmas after falling in love with my pair of real ones (he's DP's nephew, which is why he only met them as adults) so I should have bloody known!

Oh I'm so sorry - what a nightmare but hey at least you have all your lovely friends here to point and laugh express their sympathy!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/10/2011 14:49

mistressploppy - I'm with you on every point!

I actually laughed out loud, for real, when I got to the unexpected denouement!

I'm sorry you feel silly, but oh my goodness that's cheered me right up!

purplewerepidj · 11/10/2011 14:49

It's the curled up black and white one on my profile. I had to pop out for a job interview, so have sorted it now I'm back.

The ginger one is my deceased fluffball, Mango, who was taken to the vet by a kind stranger when he was run over by a car earlier this year - probably why I was so keen to help this one!

I picked it up with gloves, and it was half past nine at night therefore dark.
