Nerves in tatters here! Good luck everyone.

Are your DS/DD checking UCAS first? Or going straight into school?

Dd has opted to check UCAS first, even though school has asked them all to come in before 8.

I'm saying nothing...there has been tears this week.

Tonight we have been advised this is plan in our house !

Shinyandnew1 · 12/08/2026 21:24

Rather nervous here 🫣

No gift here beyond a LOT of financial support for the next 3 years!

Yep here too, and he was 18 2 weeks ago!

rhabarbarmarmelade · 12/08/2026 21:41

Am hearing of people already getting emails regarding places, eg QMUL?!

bringonyourwreckingball · 12/08/2026 22:03

Dd2 waiting on English language at Newcastle. She worked so fucking hard but the papers weren’t great. I am in bits, won’t sleep a wink. I went through a nasty divorce and breast cancer in the last 3 years and whilst objectively I know it’s not my fault if she doesn’t make it, the guilt will follow me forever more

manywanderings · 12/08/2026 22:49

Daily Mail reporting best A level results day ever with a lot of A's. Whether that's reliable is another matter :-)

EducatingRosemary · 12/08/2026 22:58

Thank you for the thread @SilverBlue4 .

DD has just got home after being round a friend’s playing games with school friends. She seems in good spirits. She’s promised she will do her prep for clearing before going to bed. She didn’t want to do it together when I offered this morning and is a bit eye-rolly and huffy about being expected to do it.

She said her plan for tomorrow is to check UCAS and then, if she’s got her firm, she wants me to go with her to school.

She can get her results on the school portal from 8am and if she gets her uni place she will then decide whether to check her results online before heading to school to get her actual envelope and see her teachers and friends. If she doesn’t get in, we need to get the grades online quickly and stay put to try and get something in clearing in preference to her insurance.

Good luck everyone

There are lots of people who received acongratulations on your place’ text from Uni of Surrey at around 8pm today - seemingly for a a variety of courses - and received by some who had it as firm and some for whom it was their insurance.

Lalux · 12/08/2026 23:10

Just checking in too. Very nervous here. Wishing everyone the best for the morning.

Surrey have now added the following message onto their clearing page:

Important note: We’re aware that a text about offer status was sent to some applicants earlier than intended in error. We apologise for any confusion. If you are concerned please call tel:01483 682222 +44 (0)1483 682222 or email [email protected].

So it looks like an admin error (wrong timing) rather than, say, a hacking incident. No doubt they will be in big trouble with UCAS for breaching the embargo.

Can I just send a few hugs to Ventress, if you are still able to follow x

TeenLifeMum · 12/08/2026 23:35

I thought I’d be a nervous wreck but today put things in perspective. Dd was in a car crash - 100% other driver’s fault, proven by dash cam and admitted etc but quite honestly, while I hope for dd she gets in to her chosen uni and all goes to plan, I’m feeling pretty zen about it all. The phone call could have gone another way but she’s just bruised.

I have been avoiding the news re A grades as it’s obviously great if your dc gets As but many won’t but will still be successful in life. I really hate the news articles around a levels and GCSEs every year.

However, I can’t sleep because it’s bloody hot 🥵

Boreded · 12/08/2026 23:44

We are going to play the clearing roulette tomorrow.

Son has a place at local uni and there is zero chance of him missing the grades, but there is another uni that he would rather attend but who rejected him (25% acceptance rate only), hoping there are places in the morning once he gets confirmation of him hitting the required grades.

Anyone else in this boat?

MyM8Marmite · 12/08/2026 23:46

Eek! Ds had a evening with friends, looking forward to seeing what they all get in the morning.

I'm more worried about something like this than the results at the moment. Son insists he is driving in to college on his own tomorrow and I worry about him driving if he hasn't slept much, but he has refused the offer of a lift.

I think they’re less in their heads than us as parents so he’ll be fine. Just hope there’s no old lady behind him confusing her accelerator and brake 🙈

TravellingSpoon · 13/08/2026 00:03

Good luck everyone. Hope everyone gets the results they deserve.

DD is only getting her Maths Studies result tomorrow but she really suffers with nerves so has been pacing all day. I think next year may be enough to push us all over the edge.

Oops...

Wonder if it was scheduled to be sent 8pm today instead of 8am tomorrow.

I think it's crackers that some schools still make them collect them on paper.

I'm an EO and an alevel mum and my school and DC school do email results on the dot of 8am.

Fyi on the maths, we received an email from Pearson today to say that actually the results were not outside the normal expectations for paper one.

Can you please share a copy of the email, maybe just a snippet of the bit about paper 1

Treviarpelli · 13/08/2026 05:41

We’re awake, ds has set his alarm for 7.45 and will probslby sleep until then!! Lucky him

bluefineliner · 13/08/2026 05:57

Morning everyone,

Just checking in from the other thread ahead of 8am! DD is still asleep thank goodness, she struggled to get to sleep last night. Good luck to all our YP today and strength to us parents in being there for them.

Fingers crossed everyone gets what they want/need and finds a way forward. I will check back to see how the YP have done later ❤.

GirlsInGreen · 13/08/2026 06:04

Morning @bluefineliner - Same here, im trying tto be quiet in the kitchen. Im so nervous for her, my hands are shaking.
I'm wishing all your young 'uns the very best today.🤞

temperedolive · 13/08/2026 06:05

They're both up and doing a workout to burn stress and kill the time. I'm going to get things ready for a fry up for after so that they actually sit, eat and can think things through.

Countrylife2002 · 13/08/2026 06:09

Up at 515 and nervous poo done.

DD still asleep but I notice the laptop has gone up to her room!

what a horrible feeling this is! So much worrying for someone else than it is for yourself !

Kathy286 · 13/08/2026 06:10

Good Luck to all of your dc!
